PVP builds?
Yes it’s actually the build run by 90% of the revenant. The only viable build… Nothing new here.
Just swap hammer for mace/axe if you want and retribution with invocation and you will have a slight variant.
Thanks Gannondorf. Why mace/axe over hammer? Would it not be better to swap the sword/axe for mace/axe? Forgive my ignorance in the question.
I havent PvP much since HOT release, but why no shield in the build? Is Axe that much better?

Shield is a good side choice for Rev in terms of the DPS spectrum. In terms of if you have Healing Power, yes, take shield.
The difference between the two is Axe gives you a shorter range Phase travel, for cheaper with a bit more upfront damage (while phase gives more ‘potential damage’ through unblockables). Axe 4 also chills, which is nice. Axe 5 can serve as a nice group juke. Send it into a team fight, any enemy not with stability or dodging get pulled out of position. Perfect setup into a Jade Wind if you have the energy/mentality.
Shield on the other hand gives personal survival. Only unblockable attacks can go through the shield, such as a traited Necromancer Staff 5. The 4 ability is… there. Both abilities become much better when Healing Power is brought to the table.
There’s one more Offhand you don’t see much often but shouldn’t be ignored. Sword Offhand. The 4 ability serves akin to Warrior’s Riposte, however you control when the counter comes, and the counter is a ~2 second immobilize. The real treat is the 5 ability. You can use it to pull enemies out of a team fight and into the open. Try it, coordinate with your team. You can mess with an enemy if you pull out their squishiest away from the Druid/Support.
Between the bunch I use Axe the most, gives the most reliable options as well as serve as a nice damage weapon. They are all pretty equal in use, with the only time one goes above the other is when Healing Power is introduced (Shield).
Thanks Gannondorf. Why mace/axe over hammer? Would it not be better to swap the sword/axe for mace/axe? Forgive my ignorance in the question.
No it’s only a viable option. I found hammer to be better in mcm or organized teamfight. In Spvp i find myself having more succes with sword/axe, mace/shield.
The axe is a nice weapon with a 900 range shadowstep in. Axe 5 is also good for interrupt and groups. It’s overall the dps offhand, offering both mobility and dammages.
Shield is the heal and defensive offhand option, giving you block and small heal with acces to protection. It also scal correctly with your healing power.
I don’t like sword offhand, but the reason for why you want to take them is the block of 3 seconds on sword 4.
In general revenant still a beta class for now, you really haven’t too much viable choice of legends: Shiro and Glint are the only two viable. Others are underpowered in pvp and very situationnal for now.
Ah.. I wish for the days before BWE3. Mallyx was a good choice back then.
Mallyx was what inspired me to play Revenant.
Then they decided it didn’t ‘mesh’ with condition cleansing classes.
Bleh.
So I think Revenant has become something somebody once said “Can do everything, but not as good as the rest”, meh…
Comparing to what I saw on BWs, Mallyx now feels from mediocre to almost useless, probably only me and other devoted revenants use that stance in pvp now xD Because neither it’s good for building condition damage, nor it’s good enough as a full counter to condi reapers and other BS. Probably because Unyielding Anguish consumes too much energy and Embrace the Darkness…please? Noone uses that elite, even in PvE UnAn is way better. I like the idea of BE though, probably one of the only good things remained in this stance for PvP IMO
The hammer overall feels slow at first, but it offers proficent utility in most situations even though staff as secondary looks better for interupting/blinding an opponent. Just wish it wasn’t somewhat bugged.
The class is new, I hope to see some tweaks soon, as well as balancing changes (oh god DH node trap-bots). So will see what happens on december’s balancing patch

Here is what I run. It’s important to keep Fury up, which is easy as Herald.

Done some great critical hits with this build.
