Renegade feedback pve only
I think the conditions need to be longer, like burn and torment for sure they need uptime the conditions honestly
I think the conditions need a bit longer and it needs some chill application. Otherwise from a pve standpoint it’ll be good.
Blood Fury is supposed to grant +25% bleeding duration when you have fury. It does not appear to work. I think it’s bugged.
I was doing far far more dps with my mace axe than my bow.
I felt like my mace and axe was doing more damage than the bow too. Wish we had access to the special forces area though. From the imperfect testing on the targets in the pvp area (the golems and the class targets) things definitely went down faster with mace/axe.
Are you guys seriously did the testing properly?
Short bow is doing so much aoe condition damage with just #1 (pierce trait) and #4.
It can hit up to 25 targets, causes massive bleed and torment, while dealing aoe burning.
This is everything ranger SB wants.
As mentioned by the devs range weapons have their damage reduced to compensate for the extra safety they gain thus shortbow will have less overall dps in comparison to mace axe. As for pve the main rotation will still camp mace/axe unless you absolutely cannot get back into melee range for whatever reason.
The legends will be either mallyx with jalis or mallyx with Kalla.
Currently there being no icd on the the Kalla elite makes it an attractive option, and the bleed spirit will probably be a dps increase on in a raid settings but it will feel like bad to play because you will have no energy.
the F skills are mostly forgettable as they cost too much for what they do. This includes the f3 Citadel Bombardment as it is only useful on a large target. On small hitbox targets you will get an average of 4 burning, possibly up to 7 with rng.
In summation you will take this kit mostly for the 20% condi damage modifier in pve, but it will mostly play the same as the current condi rev meta build. Though I imagine the shortbow will be good for tagging centaur maybe.

Well, it’s hard to tell on these targets because they die quickly. Which is why I said I wish I had special forces. For the class targets my mace/axe definitely killed them faster. And yes, I did use 4 and 1 on the SB. Didn’t go down as fast. I had full ascended vipers too. Plus I changed the spec away from the default pvp one.
Plus there is the real issue of SB#3 being pretty much useless if you are in melee (which if you are raiding, you are in melee most of the time). It only works best at range.
edit: I did not test on multiple targets. Mainly because that’s useless for raiding purposes. The only time you have that many targets is on trash mobs or something and GW2 raids don’t have a terrible lot of those. I care more about my damage on bosses.

Short Bow is thematic garbage. It’s cast times take forever, most skills are clunky/awkward to use, take way too much energy for the long cool downs, and generally all around is just an inferior weapon. I mean the stuff looks neat, bravo to the animation team, but functionally it’s inferior to the mace in every aspect but range. Probably see most use on PvE open world bosses if you’re lazy.
The current condi meta characater basically spams mace 1/2/3/5 while channeling down Mallyx Elite and Jalis Hammers on rotation using a Devastation/Corruption/Invocation build. I can easily see Kalla taking the place of Invocation because it should have more condi damage add with it’s Kalla’s Fervor and bleed damage traits (which we bleed with Geomancy Sigil) assuming you can get side/back hits in all the time to keep buffs rolling.
The Kalla Legendary on the other hand gets interesting when compared against Jalis. For one, the Razor well adds Bleed for each person who hits with it, but the bleeds count for you and take your stats. So if you got 5 people hitting each second it’s going to add a lot of bleed. The Energy drain one is the uncapped damage add which I see getting a nerf because holy crap if it’ll let us add damage on each hit with no ICD. But there’s long cast times on these (3/4) so the damage loss during that time might not make up for it compared to just using Jalis so it’s something that’ll have to be tested. The other two abilities one does okay damage (Ice) and the other one with the Daze seems like it’d be great for break bars.
Sadly I don’t think we’re going to see many buffs for Kalla. What we’ll see instead is a bunch of nerfs to existing Condi builds and Herald to make Kalla fit better.

The max damage from shortbow can only be reached if there’re multiple targets.
It’s literally the new zerg weapon in wvw and pve.
Note that every arrow #1 pierces will do an aoe explosion that does bleed and hit up to 25 targets.
If you take Mallyx they also causes torment too.

Ah I edited my post but you didn’t see the edit in time. Anyway, for pve raiding hitting 25 targets doesn’t matter. There usually are never that many targets in raids. In WvW I suppose I see it being an issue.

For raid, I can see some uses from the Elite and Razorclaws.
I don’t really care about raid, so the introduction of SB for openworld and wvw is a huge plus to me, especially after hammer got nerfed to ground.

Now this I agree might very well get nerfed. But revs are used to nerfs I suppose.

Yeah, I see the utilities being useful. I’m just not sure about the shortbow.

Hammer is still pretty amazing. Got smacked with COR the other day for 12k still on my 2500 armor Ele. It’s also one of the few ranged weapons that’s projectiless on it’s skills. Between reflect and the 900 range on Shortbow it was decidedly lackluster compared to Hammer.
In open world PvE content with waves of monsters, that pierce + bleed will be very strong though like it is on many classes with it (Engie Pistols with pierce come to mind)
Enjoy 3 hours of cripple you can’t remove.
Maybe with legend swap trait, but if you’re lucky enough to get just cripple and not bleeding too.
