Was just thinking about how the Herald represents a Bard type play style. Does the warhorn fit better with this or do you think the shield was a good choice? I really like the actions the shield is providing but wonder if those same actions could have been formed around the warhorn.

If a developer happens to be reading this did you all test out warhorn during early development or was the shield thought of right away for the Herald?

Going along with this there is a weapon on the wiki called Keeper’s Herald that is a warhorn.

Thematically, probably. Warhorn in general fits the theme of a Herald, too. And while I like the idea, in okay with the shield. A, shields look way better. B, bonus armor! C, it keeps Herald from being TOO close to an actual “Bard”. It’s bard-like, not a bard, and I’m sure they wanted to make that fairly clear.

That’s a skin, and a SAB skin, like this one

And ONE skin. The weapon type is still warhorn.

Heralds don’t use a warhorns historically. In GW2 anything could happen, of course, and they’re not supposed to use shield either, but it has the same rights as the worhorn on herald.

Do you guys really have to argue over everything? Shield is fine. For me it can be even a torch as long its not a warhorn – that thing stinks.

Just saying, they could add the specialization Warhorn as a trumpet. Weapons types are all tied to many fantasies. Look at melee Revenant and Thief with staff. Most staves in this game are not combat staves, but ornate magic ones. They will be, however, be adding more combat-oriented staves in wake of the new weapon uses.

No need to get testy, lol. I think the reason it was brought up is valid… Most Heralds are seen with a horn, granted not “Warhorn” but as explained, weapons can have multiple fantasies.

But if you do a search for herald, most are seen with some type of horn. Makes sense to question the lack of horn.

Please God no.

Shield is pretty great and functionally fits better as a support character supporting the line giving yourself defenses.

Nice try elementalists… you can’t trade warhorn for shield.

Yeah that was my intention exactly, not to start an argument but was really just asking. I like the idea of having a shield and the skills fit perfectly with it. Was just referencing the Herald to a type of instrument, which warhorn fitting as close as can be with the current in game weapon choices.

Would be interesting to see the development plans for the new elite specializations. Like do they pick a weapon then design skills, or do they design skills then choose a weapon.

I think that shield does’t come from the name herald. Both name and shield come from the same root that is Glint.

Yup in thinking Glint is like the shield protecting the races. Then the shield fits in nicely with why the Glint legend should get it.
