Either way, I love the idea of pistol/shield that engies enjoy. Such a cool combination of weapons you don’t see elsewhere.
GW1 didn’t have pistols, guns, torches, etc, so it’s gonna be hard finding a fitting legend. Also if the pistol is released with an elite specialisation you will never be able to play pistol/shield because you can’t have 2 elite specs at the same time.

Was unaware of the inability to double up elite specs.
Of course new weapons don’t have to be tied to elite specs, but it sounds as if that’s the direction it will go in.

And Mallyx didnt used mace/axe set i believe. Glint wasnt using shield either.

Mallyx main passive attack is blunt attacks by his hands which was smashing with his hands and slashing with his claws. I think the Mace/Axe is a representation of how he attacks with his fist, being the Mace, and claws, being the Axe.

Ya I don’t see Revy as a Profession that would use the newer weapons to GW2 lore. The Lore of Revy is to follow Legends of GW1 which they didn’t use guns.
A Torch may be possible depending on who is the GW1 Legend chosen since it a Torch still existed in GW2 but not as a weapon but a Pistol and Rifle is at the bottom of the barrel of being a Elite Spec in my opinion.
The Shield is meant to represent Glint’s Wings.
Each weapon seems to represent each of the Legends in some form though it would require knowing the character’s lore to know what part the weapons represents.
I’d love to see a greataxe in the game…

Bonfaaz Burntfur would be the best candidate for a torch. He may not have used it himself, but the Flame Legion were all about setting things on fire. Bonfires were a religious experience for them. I can’t think of a better weapon to invoke his spirit through.
Both Burtnfur and Fierceshot would be excellent candidate for a pure condi legend that we actually need (mallyx is not a pure condi).
Burntfur I think qualifies for scepter (even if, as of now, no main hand elite specs has been introduced) or torch OH.
Fierceshot can have any ranged like longbow, shortbow, rifle, pistol. I actually hope for rifle (predator FTW) or pistol MH (since we still need that ranged MH/2H condi); longbow would be cool and i feel shortbow a bit…dull.
Also in the whole discussion I’d still like a MH condi raged axe, but I have an hard time to find a really good fitting legend…
Who know maybe the rule of no main hand with spec was just for this generation, the next one could break it
I think the rule for legends should be if one culture explains the story to another the other culture should still be impressed.
eg. A human explains the deeds of shiro to a Norn, they will drink to the man who refused death and brought a country to its knees.
A sylvari who explains the purity of Ventari cleansing a major minion of an Elder dragon.
Anyone who honours a good prey in Mallyx and understands the history of pure dedication to Abbadon.
Regardless of how much you liked them I really don’t think any of the Char deserve this position, they lead wars they used powerful magics but they just kind of relaxed after their job was done, nothing godlike about any of them.
Kilbron is pretty much the only suggestion I think fits from this whole thread.
Kibrun sunk orr with the Cataclysm, Burntfur pretty much wiped ascalon with the Searing, Fierceshot basically freed the whole charr race from the shaman cast changing for sure the history allowing the charr to able to ally with the other races in the later years.
Yes maybe Fierceshot is the weakest of the 3, but all left a huge scar in history, imho

I want to see some range weapon or pure caster weapon.
1. Rifle/pistols – What legend? I don’t know. Maybe a random pirate.
2. Scepter – Togo/Razah/Xandra legend – deal lightning damage with your weapon, use ashes as a bundle to gain new skill.
3. Scepter – Mhenlo/Tahlkora/Dunkoro/Ogden – offensive monk, cast Ray of Judgment (this one from GW1, not guardian focus skill).
4. Spear – Morgahn/Kerian Thackeray – songs, throw your spear
5. Scepter – Gwen – domination, AoE interruption skills
6. Focus – Apocrypha – use Reform Carvings to change yourself into Dervish (lol)
7. Greatsword – Veresh, Melonni, Kahmu, Mox – dervish skills that can be used for greatsword, AoE damage
8. Scepter – Saul D’Alessio – use spectral agony
but what Legend in GW1 would have a Gun represent them well enough that the Rilfe or Pistol represents a part of that legend.
Maybe Kuunavang as a Legend for Rifle or Pistol to represent how Kuunavang attacks by shooting her scales at the players back in GW1 with the Utility being the Celestial Skills.
The Weapon skin may be a dragon type look. Of course the look may work better with Rifle due to how Kuunavang appearance is.
Molachev was the de facto leader of the Dredge during their time of Rebellion against the stonesummit dwarves. Since then the Dredge replaced the Dwarves in the Shiverpeak mountains and being a main antagonist for the Norn for supremacy over the Mountains.
The Utility skills you can see on my post on the first page, based on Shouts and Revolution. The Weapon Skills could mimic dredge technology. Sound based attacks. So the Rifle don’t shoots bullets but sonic waves. Main Condition on the Weapon AA would be Confusion+bleeding(bleeding ears), with fire and Torment on other skills

but its also a nice way for Anet to dig deeper with dredge lore, and explain what exactly happend after the revolution, what become of Molachev and so on. If we ever get to Primordius underground lair i can see this legend be fitting the setting
btw, i doubt we will see another human as legend any time soon. Thats why i don’t support the Khilbron idea since he is actually a human who become the Lich.
I’ld love to see a balanced kormir/spear Elite Spec. Medium Range spear throws with some supportive skills and shouts. Or maybe you remember Archemorus from GW Factions, a Luxon Legend. But this one would be completely physical with physical utility skills.
Another idea would be Focus Offhand that picks up the idea of enchanting you weapon like in gw1.

That “hammer” and the staff look weird enough on plate. Feels like some sort of light armor character.
Revenants need a slow melee option imo. Mixed damage maybe, like warrior swords.
As much as I hate the idea of an Eir legend, she is pretty much the next one.
I doubt they’d make her a legend. It’d basically spoil the plot of Heart of Thorns for future players doing it for the first time, and it’d be really weird to channel her while talking to her still living self.

Twohanded sword is far too overhyped anyways.
If two-handed sword elite spec ever get released you can bet majority of Revy players would only use two-handed sword and that one elite spec for the rest of their GW2 character life and never bother touching any of the future or current elite specs. :p

How about channeling Turai Ossa for use with grate sword.
The thing is every other class has a greatsword now: reaper, base ranger, warrior, guardian, and mesmer. Rifles and shortbows on the other hand need more use.
If revenant does get greatsword then maybe shortbow for mesmer and rifle for necro?
The way these legends are situated, I’d honestly expect the next legend to be Massive HoT Spoilers here, be warnedTrehearne. After all, he helped revitalize a fallen, currupted continent, then also coordinated and led an army that killed an Elder Dragon, which is something both Glint and Jalis became legends for TRYING EPICALLY to do, but ultimately failing. At the end, he then gave his life to ensure the brain death of a SECOND Elder Dragon. From a lore standpoint, he died as one of the single most influential heroes in Tyria's entire history, if not THE most influential. He was literally instrumental in finally breaking a cycle of destruction and recreation lasting longer than anyone knows. That...Is pretty legendary, and with his time using Caladbolg, Imwould assume you would get a greatsword. Also, I'm reasonably sure Braham burned Ehr's body. She's gone forever. This is the biggest spoiler my lord.
He to close in GW2’s storyline to ever be a legend, since new Revenants will play storeline with him in it, which would break immersion.
Hence why all the legends been GW1 ppl or older.

With Weapons based on a Legend the Rifle skin can be designed based on Kuunavang’s appearance similar to how the Herald’s Shield is based on Glint’s Wings.
The Utility can be Celestial skills that Kuunavang is known to teach the GW1 characters with the rifle skills based on Kuunavang’s attacks but the non-corrupt version.

By GW1 lore standard Kuunavang is considered Legendary standard since she was the Glint of Faction storyline. While not as big influence as Glint due to Kuunavang’s background still mostly a mystery but just enough to become part of history in GW2 timeframe.
Kuunavang has been living around the Harvest Temple for centuries long before Shiro caused the Jade Wind and trapped her under the Harvest Temple and eventually become free during Factions. Her role in Factions allowed the Heroes to save Cantha and stop Shiro with GW2 historians in current GW2 timeline still telling stories about it.

Greatswords are not the iconic weapon of the heavy armor class. Its the Hammer and Mace. All heavies can use hammer and mace baseline but no other class besides 1 elitespec
Greatsword on the other hand was still in use by Ranger and mesmer
I REALLY like how the offhand axe works. The “rift” style attack is super cool to me. I would love to see a mainhand weapon that works in a similar attack. Like making lines that pulse for heavy damage a moment later. The kind of weapon thats highly telegraphed. But has heavy impact on the fight. A weapon that can force dodges for MORE reason than just its super high auto attack dps (looking at you sword 1 spam)
Something like the axe master in DS’ Attack where it drives a blade into the ground which creates damaging dark red lines on the ground that slowly spread out and impact more and more area. Just the concept of that combined with the whole rifts into the mist is super cool to me.
We do need something more than just the hammer for ranged attacks. The obvious choise is the bow long or short. However the Revenant does not use weapons in the traditional way hammer for range, mace for conditions and staff for close combat. So I was thinking why not use twin daggers as a 900 range quick attack condition weapon?
