Q:
Assassin's Signet?
So I’ve been playing around with a new build, one which uses the above utility.
I’ve been doing some testing with it and I’ve noticed that 15% damage increase isn’t much more then the passive effect. It does maybe 100-200 more damage per backstab (even less with other attacks) but with the hefty cooldown of 45 seconds is it really worth activating?
Or maybe I’m missing something, could be testing it wrong. Would anyone else be willing to share their experiences with the signet?
I don’t know the exact number but it does indeed make you hit harder. 300 more damage is roughly 780 more damage if crit on a zerker build.
In pve, I would just use the passive effect. In pvp, it comes down to knowing when to use it (target at 50-75% heath and you want to ensure a down).
Mm, because of the way the damage formula works out (everything is multiplied) generally you need over 1200 power at level 80 (1200 * 0.15 = 180) for the active to give you more damage. But you probably have at least 1800 power, so at that point the passive is a 10% boost while the active is 15% (Equivalent to 270 power).
At least, that’s how I think it works. If anyone has knowledge to the contrary, feel free to correct me.
In any case, a lot of the point of Assassin’s is using it when you need a spike of damage, like to ensure that someone low on health gets finished off before they heal, or to maximize the spike damage potential of something like a Hidden Killer enhanced backstab.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
I think the active effect needs to be reworked. At 2K power you have almost a 10% damage boost all the time, don’t see it being worth activating to get 5% more damage for 5 attacks on a 45 second cool down.
Not sure what they could do. Maybe make it like Ranger’s Signet of the Wild and give a 20-25% damage boost for 8-10 seconds
or they could make it ignore a certain percentage of the enemies defense, or ignore protection, or something else interesting. I like what they did with the warrior’s signet of might, would like to see our strength signet get some interesting situational effect.

The main reason I can see for activating it is to use this trait:
