Glass cannon and survivability
Mesmers and Engies survive just fine with burst specs.
Guardians are one of if not the the best bunkers. Thieves are the most slippery in burst specs.
All classes can do everything but there is still flavor.
Killing a glass thief is one of the easiest things in this game, especially if they are using all burst utilities.
The nerf is to all burst I would bet and profs that are nerfed will get buffed elsewhere. I don’t care personally since I’m a condition thief. Glass thieves are just lol to me though. They loose or get away because I’m lazy and that’s it.

Straight up lying or just ignorant.
What other burst class with a glass spec can reset a fight the way a glass thief can? Maybe Mesmer, and that’s it. If you catch a glass guard, necro, elementslist, ranger, or warrior after they have blown their combo they are as good as dead because no amount of defenses they have compares to the complete mitigation of being invisible.
A thief can reset a fight easily compared to any other class. It’s not the burst that is an issue so much as stealth itself being too much mitigation for zero sacrifice.
Now before anyone calls me a nerf herder, let me state that I have an end game thief, guardian, and necro. This is from experience.
The reason thief is gettin adjustment is simple:
They have more survivability even when full burst spec than many other classes most survivable specs.
Stealth is ridiculously powerful. A full glass thief can have more survivability than a full bunker guardian if played correctly. Now you may argue this is not the case, but let’s compare a full glass guardian to a full glass thief. That guardian is going down fast under fire if they blow their combo and it fails. They just die. A thief on the other hand, can stealth away. “But just aoe where they stealth” is a terrible suggestion.
No other class in the game can come close to the survivability of a thief with a glass spec when they themselves are glass spec.
That’s why a nerf is coming.Deal with it in dignity.
Can’t take anything you say seriously after this point.
Stealth isn’t THAT strong. Channeled effects still hit you if they were started before you stealthed (such as ranger rapid fire, or warrior rifle channel or aimed shot), allowing the player to at least know the angle you are at in comparison to them (if not the distance, which can usually be fairly accurately guessed). Honestly, this should not be possible; other games with stealth have always broken channeled/casted abilities if you stealthed in the middle of them.
Given how easy it is to stealth, however, I can see how this would be overpowered.
But nice attempt at trying to compare a glass thief to a bunker guard. What about a glass thief and a glass guard?
complete mitigation of being invisible
That’s all I need to know you don’t know how to fight a thief. This is a L2P issue sad to say.
Like I said, some glass are better at some things than others, just like some are better at bunker than others. What is so hard to understand about that?

I should’ve clarified in wvwvw. Going invisible vs a Zerg and speeding away or popping every cooldown and still getting destroyed?
Yeh. Context matters, I’ve defined it. Perhaps you could do more than take it personally.

You’re the one that made the comparison.
Thief relies on stealth because they have 10,805 base health and medium armor. This makes them the second squishiest class in the game, after elementalist.
Being good at running away is what the thief is marketed as. Stealth isn’t even overpowered.

Guardians have the same health and maybe 200ish more armor due to heavy armor. K.
And lol marketed as being beat running away, AND killin people in seconds.
That’s the cake and eating it too.

Guardians also have a ton of heals, which is what their class is based on. Are you telling me Guardians, the hardest class to kill and near impossible to die 1v1, is squishy?
You’re hilarious. I agree with Stiv – this is a L2P issue. The burst is getting nerfed, not stealth.
If you have those characters are endgame why are you comparing completely different profs to one and another?
ArenaNet has stated that the Thief by design is slippery, it’s THE classes that just slips between your fingers THUS that means that you can’t quite kill it before they get away.
Guardians have much more survivability, due to acces to protections boons and innate health regenerations, not too mention a free block every 40 seconds or so (very crucial in sPvP)
A Thief is always glass, it’s just depending on the spec if it’s going to be a cannon or needle gun to the testicles.
Just deal with it that Thief by design will always be annoying in sPvP, it’s the core design of the entire profession. Stealth is here to stay, and FYI even when in stealth we can still be hit.
Just deal with it and move along.
What’s the point of a “bunker” build? It’s to hold control points, right?
Thieves are really good at escaping from combat, but when they do, more often than not it means they’re ceding control of the thing they’re actually fighting for. Seems like the proper “bunker” character avoiding death accomplishes more.
Proteus. Glass cannon mesmers, eles, engis, and necros have just as much survivability as a glass cannon thief.
And idk what you mean by a thief “resetting the fight”. If you mean, the thief runs away while his opponent caps a point then comes back after both players have healed to full to try again, then sure, i can agree that the thief is good at at. Too bad his opponent just capped the point and getting points for his team while beating up the thief again.
Play a thief, then fight a glass cannon dagger/dagger ele and tell me thieves have more survivability than other glass cannon classes.
Point: Sure a thief can run away better than any class, but what does the thief accomplish by doing that?

Not to mention the entire downed state mechanic hard counters glass thieves. Everyone can pop an interrupt, even if you see a hasted stomp coming then friends just rez you up. There is no dueling in this game because they don’t want players to focus on 1v1 in specific setups like the OP is doing.
Thanks for the tips guys. Will review and get back.
i consider thief glass cannon chance to survive in 1 vs 1 after they do the combo to 25%, if they don’t kill the target.
except mesmers that you already mentioned , warriors can reset combat very easy , specialy vs guardian , they will outrun you
elementarists, can do that if they want to, they will outrun you any time
regarding glass cannon guardian , you had mentioned , is not viable, is an wrong concept , guardian by his design and ability’s is made to be tanky, and will shine in defence.
So as an topic creator OP, what would you like to offer to thieves in exchange for the stealth, wich you consider is an broken mecanism. Thieves got no protection /aegis / stability/retailation and regeneraion is only from 1 skill. (compared with guardian that have 1 pasive and 4 active.
OK we cut off thief’s defence mecanism. no more stealth ? what you give them in exchange?
-more damage ? oh noes
- save yourselves and the other shouts from guardian ? (the buble ? sounds cool !!! projectiles and enemy’s cannot enter and you get healed )
-the mesmers clone’s and teleports ( yay i want 3 4 thieves with me all the time )
-maybe we add them an pet
-maybe some stuns and knockbacks?
-even endurance pain sounds cool
Anyway i am waiting for your sugestion
