"Guns Blazing" - A Viable P/P Build + Vid
Oh man, now I really want a super pistol :O Great video btw! Seems like a really fun build.
The video you posted shows of a different build than the one you posted – the build makes use of 6 pts in Acrobatics because you get swiftness, 2 stacks of might (one from trait, one from food) on dodge and regain some endurance via Feline Grace, and you gain initiative on weapon swap. You do have 6pts in Trickery because of Thrill of Crime, Bountiful Theft and Sleight of Hand. You also have 2pts in Deadly Arts for Mug.
TL;DR: the build being used in the video is 2 0 0 6 6 with III in Deadly Arts, II and XII in Acrobatics, and V, VII, XII in Trickery. Couldnt find out which other trait you used in Acrobatics.
Gear seems to be full zerker with runes of Strength, Sigils of Fire and Strength on Pistols, Sigils of Strength and Battle on your Shortbow.
That said, its impressive gameplay to watch – we had jade Sea in our matchup last week and that blue haired female elementalist vom Coeur Noir you fought ripped me apart on any build i tried to bring. You also managed to kite and beat a mace shield GS warrior, my number 1 nemesis of all time. Will try this!

Is that really the case? The build in the link is completely different than the one being used in the video?
Also, would this build work with ascended celestial armor/strength runes and zerker everything else?
That is the case, yes. Watch closely. 2pts in Deadly Arts, because the player heals himself, damages and poisons the opponent. 6pts in Acrobatics because the player gains initiative on weapon swap. And 6pts in Trickery because the player dazes the target on Steal, and has a 21 sec Steal-CD. That answers all questions – there is 0pts in Critical Strikes.
I´d say you buff the condi part of the pistol set, but i dont think it´ll justify the loss of damage from Unload. You need to dish out lots of direct damage.

looks like alot of fun to play but in spvp unfortunately it’s no good since we only have conquest mode and need to fight on a very small area…
Thank you A-net!

I used both builds, the one he posted and the one you mentioned. You can also see it in HP pool, when it’s 6 Critical Strikes he has 14k when it’s Acrobatics he has 16k
I apologize for the confusion.
the reason i was using different traits in some of the fights is simply because i forgot to switch back from my S/D build traits ^^
you can see that in some fights i had 15k/14k hp (critical Strikes) and in some 16k hp (acrobatics)
you can run 2/0/0/6/6 for a more evasive playstyle with feline grace and power inerta
or 2/6/0/0/6 for a more offensive style with executioner and pistol mastery (+flat 200 ferocity)
wich one is better? i cant really say, thats up to your preference.
the set stats are Valkery armor + Strength runes + Zerker trinkets regardless of traits.
with Fire/Air on the guns and Fire/Battle on the shortbow just as shown in the build page.
i will add the second build to the topic/video to avoid further confusion.
No problem. I didnt even realize that there are 2 different builds in the video – thought the changing amount of HP is because of different foodstuff fo different fights. Now it all makes sense xD
Interesting and informative, thanks for sharing. A guildmate and I are fond of P/P but I haven’t worked much with my thief until recently. Would it be feasible to adapt this build for PvE?
Guardians of the Vault [GotV] and Guíld of Dívíne Soldíers [GoDS]
Gate of Madness server
really fun to watch
but i dont think its the build rather the player
i also used to run some variant with p/p 0,6,0,4,4 or 0,6,0,2,6 with life steal sigil and runes and food for more life steal
ints nice in 1v1 and gave me some nice result as ppl dont use to fight in so many blinds
but for me i yield about 50-60% winning.
in 1vX not possible at all
and in guild raid nice dmg with ricochet
I run a build like your offensive link on my thief. It works great. Watch out for other thieves though!
I’m also curious about what Tanith asked: is this build also viable in pve, with minor tweaks or something?
This looks so dang fun, dude! Well done!
This build is viable in PVE aswell.
its especially effectives against single target and certein Fractal bosses as u can pew pew them from afar and not worry about getting hit by agony based attacks.
smoke screen also negates any projectiles and if u put it in the right spots normal trash mobs will be perma blinded and wont even be able to land a hit on ur party members.
and you can steal boons from bosses/mobs to make them more vulnerable or hit less hard.
for AOE mob clearing use shotbow’s cluster bomb spam.
and for traits just go for the offensive one but swap the first trait in critical strikes to “Furious Retaliartion” for perma fury.
Took the build for a spin in soloqueue.
As I am a sucker for sigils of leeching, I replaced the fire sigil on the shortbow with a sigil of leeching. Been a while since I had such a blast in soloq^^
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
Nice job you made me play my thief again after a very long pause. P/P is the weaponset why I actually made a thief almost 2 years ago.
Thanks for sharing man nice video . . . make more =P
Its nice to see someone else going outside the box. I’ve been using P/P as my main WvW build for a while now. Totally different trait setup though as I use it for running in guild groups and GvG. Just pick on anything remotely squish and its GG. keep the vids coming.
