Thieves are not Ninja or Assassin. This perception of the profession has to stop.

I’m just saying it would be nice to have such weaponkits..
What’s the point? Due to initiative we don’t really swap in combat and defines ourselves by our primary set unlike engineer that has CD and no weapon swap kits should remain unique to them.

Well, thieves aren’t ninja/assassin, but a specialization could theoretically change that. Ranger’s aren’t druids either (yet).
Might as well make Thieves breath fire and every time they use “Scorpion” Wire they yell; “Get over here!” (not that I already do it, but might as well officially add it).

How does it fail you? I mainly use it for interrupt because if I want to get close to my target I just walk towards them. :/

Well i get the point with it looking fancy on paper, but nah in reality imo.
To keep to theme of a new Thief weapon, looking at the weapons/skills we have in the game it would go down to Rifle, Longbow and maybe Axes.
If we look for something not yet implemented in the game then maybe ropes/chains of some sort, not the ninja kind.
If we look at utilities then maybe some kind of self-injected drug, similar to engineer elexirs, giving like superspeed and quickness for a short duration and similar effects.
Or maybe, something not quite like a kit per-se, but something that burns up the utility skill, grants you like the mentioned rope for a medium duration, with new weapon skills etc.. Think like how deathshroud works, shift into a new skillbar without affecting your choice of weapons.
I want a rope/chain utility skill that lets you temporarily pull yourself to objects, tie up people and set traps, along with a medium range auto attack. That would maybe make SB offhand less mandatory.

When I saw the chronomancer, I was happy because it looked cool and totally new. So I began to think how Arenanet could change the Thief. The necromancer is getting the great-sword, so the thief will most likely get an axe. Then I thought:“Don’t know any ninjas with axes”. And then it hit me "What if the thief would get something similar as weaponkits that the engineers have ".

What if thieves actually stole their kit depending on what class they were up against, like they already do with the single ability we get from Steal? Instead of only getting a single one shot ability, we got an entire kit of 1-5 slot weapon abilities?

Well, if you watch that weaponless dueling video again, you can see it happen right around 30 seconds. There is at least 1 short pull against a mesmer later and maybe another obstructed again (didn’t feel like watching the entire video again), but Scorpion wire messes up enough that I don’t usually include it on my bar.

A thief like weapon that mostly fits history’s traditional thieves would be a billy club.

u could put all the junk traps we have in to one nicely packaged kit
and u would not feel like u r wasting a utility slot on a bad skill anymore
While I can see kits working (thematically) with the thief, I can personally see gadgets, stances or survival skills being more likely. That said, Anet doesn’t always do the expected (that’s a good thing).
If they did have kits I hope they can find a way to make kits use the initiative mechanic. Initiative is one of the best things about the thief and one of the main reasons I play one, so would love to see kits use initiative.
If thieves get kits I’m not sure I’m going to keep mine as my main.
I just wish we get better traps, and also, elite traps and, healing traps and… even more traps.
No seriously, kits = well lol poof there goes your legendary, have a generic ugly skin you can’t customize at all forever instead
Ummm, no. Most likely class to get kits would actually be Elementalists and the devs finally getting around to addressing conjures.
