I ran a few tests to try and figure out what the optimal damage rotation is for staff.

I did a standard CS/DA/DD build with Bound, Onslaught and all damage mulitpleirs taken.

My utiliy skill setup was Assassin’s Signet, Signet of Agility and Fists of Flurry.

Gear is exotic berserkers armor, ascended berseker trinkets and ascended assassin’s weapons.

I stacked on all boons and all profession enhancements and added 25 stacks of vulnerability to the golem. I wanted to max out as much as possible to make the deltas between the rotations as large as possible. Quickness is no longer an issue with the changes to Weakening Strikes.

Here is what I got:

Autoattacks with one Bound each time buff expired and Fists of Flurry on each cycle: 30.5k
Autoattack with one Bound each time the buff expired: 29k
Autoattack with Fists of Flurry on each cycle: 28k
Autoattack only: 27k
Weakening Strike Spam (Small Target Box): 23k
Weakening Strike Spam (Large Target Box): 24k

This is the averages of each damage report over time it took me to kill a 1 million. Mostly rounded up or down except for one which was dead center.

I always had a suspicious that Weakening Strikes being a boost over autoattacks was wrong, but went with popular consensus, because I couldn’t prove otherwise.

And, hey, guess what? P/P damage still sucks. A lot. But it’s better ranged than shortbow!
