TL:DR – Human, Sylvari or Asura for a sword/dagger duelist kind of thief for my first alt. Don’t like Norn Thieves and would like to avoid making a second Charr but thats my fallback :P
Sorry for the wall of text…
I’m happily addicted to my Charr warrior and am close to hitting cap for the first time since playing GW2 (yay) but as ever I tend to like to make an alt or two when closing in on the level cap like I did on World of Warcraft.
In my earlier GW2 days I loved my old Charr thief. The Ash legion story was fantastic, my personal story (Honourless Gladium) fit with his nature with what I chose and now I find myself drawn back to the class for my first alt.
While it’s easy to say, ‘Just do what you did before if it was fun,’ I’d like to give another race a try while I’m experimenting I like building my character with a backstory as well but without following too many cliches while not being a special snowflake as well.
As an example my Charr warriors RP is that he is Iron Legion, he specialises in rifles but is also trained in sword and shield combat to help protect the Engineers and their war machines. He’s open minded, not seeing Blood as thick headed or Ash as dishonourable but still believes in Iron above all and won’t suffer any unfair insult or treatment on his Legion and, most importantly, his Warband.
My idea is a quick footed duelist, a sword/dagger build with a focus on being too quick for the enemy to hit. On the other hand he still fights honourably, he just believes more in avoiding hits than taking them. He doesn’t employ dirty tactics in a duel but he isn’t beyond gaining the upperhand on those he himself calls dishonourable (Bandits, Seperatists, Flame legion, those kinds of people).
What race best exemplifies that though? Norn is a no go because they just don’t fit the class (I have a friend who plays one and he’s enough Norn Thief for me) and I’m trying to do anything but Charr (even though I want too, but kitten the world is bigger than Ascalon) so that leaves me with Sylvari, Human or Asura?
Sorry for dragging on, looking forward to the input
