Runes for my condi thief?
Perplexity for ultimate cheese
Wait until April 15th before you make any rune decisions.
Personally I use Runes of the Noble. Lots of fun for a hybrid build wherein you can pick and choose emphasizing more condition damage or more direct damage as needed. (I just switch up foods/stacks and consumables as needed )
It fun to have that flexibility and works well in WvW .
That said I would wait a bit. The new Balthazar look interesting and the type of set you have wherein you mix and match will not be seen as much IMHO.
Balthazar+withdraw will be really strong after the patch
Well, if you are running full dire, grab rune of the undead. They are awesome runes and only 89 copper.
Scavenger are a better bet, more extra +condi damage, and the healing procs from the rune set are nice.

Agreed, many runes are going to get a major overhaul and probably become more effective as a result.

Again, rune of the undead cost about 5 silver for a full set, grab those since the patch is coming!!!

~150 extra condi dmg is nothing compared to almost 5 sec of burning or 13 stacks of confusion

I am toying with the idea of both using Balthazar and the new Trickery Bewildering trait. I did use Balthazar for a bit in current form in my condition build and it was not that difficult to withdraw IN to your foes. (Conversely you can give the appearance of running away and then withdraw back into them with a nasty surprise)
I have the feeling we are going to see more weapon sigils used that clear a condition such as Purity so a condition build thief will need to be able to get more types on.

I still think it’s stupid that on-heal procs dont go off until after the heal is over.

Yes that would make the proc on heal even more effective. That said I did have an occasion where I was near dead and withdrew and the Guardian fighting me leapt right after me, the proc on heal went off and he was downed by the fire.
I am a big fan of any proc on heal skill as a thief given we have withdraw.
I’d like to see more people abuse Perplexity so it can get nerfed asap… Glad it’s getting into sPvP for this exact reason… that’s one place where balance isn’t completely ignored.
The Balthazar changes are great but it still can’t compete with the cheese that is confusion spam.

Perplexity is not being added to PvP. They reversed the decision.
