My thief is under powered. I’m sure you’ve seen some of this guy’s gems from various posts.

God, thief could be a much better balanced class when it never got stealth…

And you guys would still complain because of the initiative system, damage, dodging, shadowstep, blinds. In fact at this rate, by the time anet is confident they overnerfed the thief:
1.) every attack will cost 12 initiative.
2.) Thief can only dodge once.
3.) Blind causes an immunity to blind for 30 seconds
4.) Shadowstepping doesn’t go farther than 200.
5.) Shadow return doesn’t cure conditions but instead causes cripple.
6.) Stealing doesnt do damage, heal or steal anything.
7.) Thief DPS gets reduced to that of a ranger pet.

That is true, some classes can be freaking powerfull making 15k or more if all conditions are met, on a character close to 4k armor.

Thief if well played and well builded can kill anyone in2 or 3 skills

Yes, and I gently correct it on occasion. They understand the “this class desperately needs reworked” feeling.

I think thieves are in a somewhat decent place. My only concern about them is they strongly discourage s/d or staff roaming for elementalist.

Well everything has got to counter something I suppose. If thieves didn’t counter s/d, something else would come along and find a way. Although I’m pretty sure staff has been an bad choice for solo roaming to begin with since it really shines in zergs or in large roaming groups. Thieves make nice roamers because if you look at their traits and skills, most of them are pretty selfish in that they usually will only benefit the thief. Sure there are exceptions like the steal traits and venomous aura but apart from those most of their traits boost the thief’s power while other classes can have even entire trait lines centered around party support.

Ya the shortbow always seemed… incomplete to me. Just off memory, I think there is only one trait in the entire thief profession that affects shortbow specifically and all it does is a 5% increase in damage. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a nice weapon and can be used to great effect, it just can’t be built around like you could other weapons.

That perma stealth for only appears for 1 sec to hit you for 6-12k and go stealth again and if you are about to lose reset the fight. … perma vigor and perma dodges.

So since last patch thieves are able to perma stealth, hit for (mean) 9k damage, have perma vigor and can perma dodge? I didn’t know 25/30/30/30/0 build was so strong!
