Hey there! I’ve decided I’m going to come back and starting playing again, except I want to roll with a different character. I’ve been looking at the Thief (specifically the D/D and S/D builds) and was wondering how strong they are right now?

I’m highly interested in Pvp so I wanna know how strong they are in that regard? Please give me insight as to how they will be when the newest patch is suppose to hit to. I just don’t want to roll with a class and then they are extremely weak.

Hotjoin PvP is the non-tournament matches, up to 8v8. It’s where skill matters none, run whatever you want and murder people for no good reason.

In tournaments, high-level Thief builds have either been D/P trickery builds or S/D evasion builds, one of which (the 2nd) is being held back extremely harshly next patch. So, I hope you like D/P, being extremely glassy with no condition removal or simply love spamming 2 with Shortbow to AoE a point. It’s unclear exactly how badly S/D will be butchered, but it’s not looking great.

What do you think about D/D eles? I’ve been done some reading on them?

Eles are pretty much non-existent in the meta (Dec 10 changes might do something about that). They just totally melt in tourneys, and any attempts at bunkering are better done by other classes.

Destroy S/D and S/p builds, take away a great cc mitigation skill. You might look into running a Mesmer they have great utility, and dps. They are seeing some really good buffs

Honestly, if you want to play thief play thief. It is a ton of fun regardless of the fact that anet is butchering it piece by piece each patch. It feels like a hard time to learn it right now (I’m really glad I was able to slowly build up skill while we were still powerful and the meta wasn’t so crazy). If you want some build advice (assuming you stick around) just let us know

You will have fun in wvw regardless if you wanna roam or zerg up. I recommend starting with d/d and shortbow. As for pve s/p is decent for all trash encounters and d/d is good for the stacks on bosses.

I wouldn’t worry too much about nerfs or patches just now cause wat harm could another 80 do.

decent thieves still do really well in this game. it just takes a little work.

I would rather do better on a different profession without putting any effort into it.
