Thief WvW spec, Angry Chihuahua
I’ve fought a few thief’s with this build, there was 2 of us and we couldn’t even target him. He would come out of stealth so I would tab to him, but he would still be rendering. But the time he rendered he would stealth again, I find that the rendering issue plays a big role. He probably used stealth 5 or 6 times during that fight. Pretty impressive, my other team mates were calling nerf.
Though with that said it’s a good spec, not the one for me though.
Never actually faced a thief like this, so I’m quite curious on how effective the build is. However, your primary defense is focused around stealthing and regening while stealth’d, so I don’t see the purpose of using dagger storm and exposing yourself for such a long period of time. If anything, thief guild provides you with more distraction for regen to take full effect and creates openings for you to attack. As for going S/D, you’ll lack damage simply because you’re not relying on quickness, but autoattacks. In 1 v 1’s, it might be useful against certain classes, but cloak and dagger is very initiative-heavy and it provides very little room for chasing capabilities. the build looks good from a defensive perspective, but not as significant from a offensive perspective.
I prefer dagger storm because, from my perspective, Thieve’s Guild is more of a 1v1 duel winner rather than large scale, multi enemy ability. The 8 second projectile reflect is quite potent in WvW.
As far as Cloak and Dagger being a high initiative cost, when you land the skill you get 2 initiative back from the talent Shadow Arts V. So 4 initiative for your stealth/ health regeneration /and a daze opener is relatively conservative for the performance.
As for not relying on quickness… I welcome not relying on a 45sec cd to kill people. The main hand sword attack and regular Dancing Dagger and Cloak and Dagger attacks bring potent damage along with staying power.
I regularly kill multiple people at the same time and I can fight right in the middle of large groups of enemies with well timed dodges along with the stealth and healing.
I welcome comments from people who have experienced this build, either playing as/with/ or against it.
