So I’ve been using full Berserker’s equipment until I noticed that I get downed extremely quickly when I get attacked, and I end up dealing less damage overall. I’ve been trying to find a different set of equipment that would help me with survivability, but I want to keep my damage close to what I had before. My old stats were 3195 attack, 51% crit, 13k HP.

I switched my accessories to Valkyrie’s and replaced one of my runes and now I’m at 16.8k HP, 38% crit (using SoA for the endurance regen and to add a bit more crit and is 42%) and 3170 power.

However, my armor still remains at a mere 1980, and I’m not sure if I’ve sacrificed a lot of potential damage for just a slight increase in survivability. I’m considering getting Knight weapons to increase my toughness, but I might just wait for P/V/T weapons (which will probably take a while).

Are there any suggestions? Also I’m using 5 Scholar 1 Rata Sum runes, Fire/Bloodlust sigils on S/D (I only use my SB for mobility and blast finish) and my crit damage is currently at an even 100. I’m considering getting Divinity runes in the future to increase all my stats as much as possible but I’d like some input on if I’m just wasting my money on a build that probably won’t work, or if I might be able to make something out of this.

I’m running a 10/30/0/15/15 on traits. Build is for PvE/WvW by the way.

Sorry for the scrambled thoughts, it’s 6AM here.

EDIT: If it matters, I’m using HoS, SoA, SoS, Refuge and Thieves Guild for my utilities.

You’re just having the same problem every glass cannon Thief runs into eventually.

How to balance offensive and defensive stats in the more challenging PvE environments?

There’s really no clear-cut answer here. Everyone has to find their sweet spot.

Some things to consider though:

1. The ideal ratio of armor to HP is about 1:10. So unless you have very little Toughness, then Vitality is almost always the better option.

2. Once you’re above 16.000 HP you stop being one-shot by most things in PvE. There are still exceptions, but they are rare.

3. A Valkyrie focused build synergize well with Hidden Killer. Most other builds are better off with Executioneer
