Why are you guys so frustrated?
BS builds were barely touched and condition builds were not touched at all.
because this change to DD doesnt affect those BS builds, it affects */D builds in general. and for most of them DD was the main source of damage.
They talked about toning down burst dps and giving them defensive abilities to compensate.
They did pretty much none of that short of buffing a few defensive abilities and beating on S/D.
Mug still does up to 6k dmg and applies basilisk venom leaving the instagib spike completely intact, shortbow #3 is still blatantly OP, nothing really changed in the spec short of not being top tier pew-pewers from off BO to boot…
They said they knew d/d-shortbow was over the top yet didn’t actually fix the issues about it in question…

This right here is your problem. They didn’t touch those builds. They took a baseball bat to everything EXCEPT those builds.

How the hell is shortbow #3 blatantly OP? It does like autoattack damage and the cripple lasts an instant. It’s an escape tool, nothing more.
go try pvp with ranger…or wvwvw. My thief actually is much more fun to play than is my shelved ranger.

This single patch stomped on multiple thief builds, and worked towards shoehorning them all into either condition, or glass cannon backstab thieves.

they didnt get totally stomped on literally come on and aswell most people they are going full condition or full glass cannon anyway from the get go. honestly ive been on my thief for a while in WvW and spvp and i can hardly see a difference in damage. on the things that were. nerfed. its true that dancing dagger got hit hard. but if u go glass cannon spec. u still can hit pretty kitten high eithier way so u really dont notice it.

50 % damage reduction is 50 % damage reduction, regardless of what kind equipment you’re wearing. Being a “glass cannon” does not automagically mitigate the effects of a base damage decrease.
The fact is that the patch caused S/D to lose its only burst damage skill while heavily weakening its control factor. S/D now relies solely on auto attack for damage but is less able to wear down opponents even via auto attack due to C&D→Tactical Strike nerfs. That is definitely “getting totally stomped on”.

S/D is now completely worthless. CnD hits like a wet noodle, Tactital Strike is dazed for half of what it was, DD is now worthless (4 ini for a short cripple, no thanks), and FS still wasn’t fixed.
I’m starting to lose faith in ANet.
and ima be honest with u thier i RARELY see S/D thiefs outside of pve. thats just wat i see. idk might be my server ? FortAspenwood but yea. most are eithier D/D or P/D for both WvW and spvp. thats why im not really worried about it to much at all.
And i nvr said it automatically mitigates anything if u have been ingame like i was for the past 3 hours. every single. thief. was glass cannon build now. its pretty rediculous so expect the QQ to begin tomorrow ^^

It alone makes glass cannon thieves survivable (instant evade) and nigh uncatchable giving them as close to a free chance to pew away before spiking as possible.
For roamers that is godsend.
It probably cause I am condi p/d bit the CnD nerf doesnt mean much for me. Then again I Only use it to stealth and sneak attack or stealth stomp someone.

so ur basically saying glass cannon thiefs should instantly die with no survivability? hmm verry selfish thier while mesmers can pretty much be the same way uncatchable. and half of them are glass cannons too so that means ur saying they should instantly die aswell !

- No P/P buffs (the bodyshot thing is completely worthless)
- Flanking Strike still blows
- Pistol Whip still does about the same damage as auto-attack (which is crap)
Basically a ton of nerfs, a couple of buffs that really weren’t needed aside from maybe 1 or 2. P/P, S/D, and S/P still have massive, glaring issues that were overlooked
Overall, terrible patch considering we have been waiting THREE MONTHS for this.

I’m personally frustrated since my favorite weapon combo, S/D, was the one hit hardest by this nerf, despite being one of the least used weapon sets, while D/D burst was left slightly nerfed.
Secondly, I’m annoyed that P/P continues to be sub-par.
