toughness stat questions
Toughness is helped by more vitality. First priority should be vitality and second should be toughness.
What kind of build?
wanted to run trapper theif with dragonhunter runes.

It worth revisiting this build with damage back in traps. You might be able to pull of a workable hybrid build going this route given there that might coming in.
Toughness does seem to help if your planning on being in each fight a bit longer outside of the standard stealth—>burst—→reset rotation, but yeah, try for vitality as your defensive stat first. I generally have only about 200 extra toughness on the set I use, but it does seem to cut my inc damage just enough to make a difference (especially against initial d/p bursts).
well this is why i orginally asked.
because i wanted to play around with uncanny stats
I have looked at and toyed around with Vigilant myself and really did not find anything I felt could work when Theorycrafting. The idea of the expertise for me was to try and extend the lenth of cripples, immobs weakness and other CC rather then the damage component from the bleeds and poison.
I see you have BT and RS in the build. That in fact works quite well at stealing boons.
Good luck.
this theory build is really easy at getting 25 stacks of might. thus turning your non problematic condi’s into actual dmg.
might end up switching to improvisation, sleight of hand, and using 2 different trinks for more vitality that still offer a combination of both expertise and concentration.
soon as i cross the matts i’ll craft the ascended gear and give it a go
*side note, vigilant stats might be more op on trapper ranger/druids with their trapper traits
