Beginner Warrior Tips.
Welcome!
My best tip for leveling is to interchange between two regions and complete hearts as close to your level as possible. The regions are Kryta, Shiverpeaks, Maguuma, Ascalon, and Orr way later on.
For travel, it’s worth noting that asura gates are free within cities and Lion’s Arch connects to all the major races’ cities. The gate for Hoelbrak is northwest of the Great Lodge.
For gear, vendors sell weapons and equipment in level intervals of 5. Once you get to level 10 and every 5 levels, I’d take a look at your gear at these vendors and replace as you go.
Make sure you save 10 silver for your adept training book, 1 gold for your master book, and 2 gold for grandmaster. These let you reach higher levels of traits at level 11, 40, and 60.
Crafting is supposed to be something you do as you level, but in practice the mats require investment that either takes a long time through farming mobs or money that you need for trait books. I’d wait for a while on it, and do some research on GW2 Guru.
For gathering, you get new tools at level 10, 20, 30, 45, and 60. I’d recommend keeping them stocked at all times and gathering everything you see.
If you want to learn combat really fast, then I’d recommend doing hotjoins in PvP. You’ll get slapped around a bit, but once you decipher what’s going on you’ll go back to leveling and laugh at how easy it is in comparison
I’m no expert, but I’ll gladly throw in my two-cents as well for a new player, especially since I was one not that long ago, so I know how it feels!
This game is based on avoiding attacks more often than straight-out absorbing them, yes, that means even as a heavy-armored Warrior. Sure, you can get a few more hits in, but you’ll also take a few, don’t forget to stay on your toes, especially in melee combat.
Almost all professions can hold two weapon sets, and switch between them in combat. As a Warrior though, you have access to a LOT of weapons. You’ll always want a high-damage weapon set (like the brutal Axe-Axe or powerful Greatsword,) a defensive set (Mace & Shield is my favorite,) on your quick-switch, unless the situation ahead calls for something different. For said situations, you should keep a ranged weapon (Long Bow or Rifle, or both!) in your inventory, and a Warhorn for some extra group utility as well. Make sure you get as much practice with EVERY weapon combo, find a few that work best for you, but don’t forget about the rest!
While crafting may not be 100% useful as you level, don’t over-look gathering. You can gather from all resource nodes (plants, trees and ores,) as well as use Salvage Kits on equipment whether or not you have a crafting trade. And you can easily store them in a special part of your personal bank called “Collectibles,” so even if you don’t end up making use of what you just hunted down on that character whenever you get around to crafting, it’ll still be there for any future alts! Account-based banking is super handy.
I’ll call it it for now, a lot of this game comes to you simply as you play, so fart around some (yes, that’s a technical term,) and enjoy yourself. Having fun is the point of a video game, after all.
Dynamic events are more important than quest hearts, so drop what you’re doing to participate.
Don’t fall for the karma gear trap. Buy your gear off of the TP every 5-10 levels.
Don’t overlook map completion.
Greatsword is probably best for leveling, but try other weapon sets to see what you like best.
Appreciate Charr apple salesmen.
For gear, vendors sell weapons and equipment in level intervals of 5. Once you get to level 10 and every 5 levels, I’d take a look at your gear at these vendors and replace as you go.
NPC vendors do sell weapons and armor in these intervals, but they are invariably more expensive than the equivalent or superior equipment you can purchase from the Trading Post from other players. I wasted a few precious silver early on before figuring this out.
First off, use Axe/Axe + GS till level 40. This weapon setup provide you with the fastest leveling speed. Of course always go for equipments that add Power (1 stat eq) then Power and Precision (2 stat eq) then finally Beserkers (Power/Precision/Crit Damage).
Together with Axe/Axe and GS, you can fly through levels. GS HB (Hundred Blades) and Axe burst deal the most damage. Axe 5 and 2 build your adrenaline fast.
Every 5 or 10 levels depending on how much you have, go for Fine (Blue) or Masterwork (Green) eq in Trading Post. Don’t buy them from vendors as they are expensive and useless. Always try to selling your items via Trading Post first then NPC so as to maximize your profits.
Leveling wise, go for dynamic events and personal story. These gives the most experience. Once level 35 onwards go do AC.

Thanks for all the info guys, love the community here !
Going to go now and try some stuff you said.
the most important things:
1) Don’t waste karma on equip. You will want to save it till you are level 80, so you can buy temple armor.
2) Don’t buy expensive equipment. Especially rares are a no-no. If they drop for you or you can actually afford crafting ones on your level, then that’s that, but NEVER EVER buy rares from the trading post and if you do, do NOT buy them as soon as you can(that is, at lev 35) because that’s a huge trap. Level 35 rares(yellow quality items) will cost you anywhere between 2 and 5 gold for whatever you’d consider to be a full set of the right attributes. You can buy full sets of masterwork(often times simply referred to as greens in the forum) equip for 25 silver top, if you spend REALLY much cash and buy weapons and accessories aswell.
Fine(blues), however, can be picked up for about their vendor value from the trading post. This means, you buy some fine quality item, then you sell it to a trader or salvage it, once you don’t need it anymore, so it will come in at effectively one copper per item, because people are stupid and don’t realize, they lose 7% of their cash, if they sell items for resale value on the trading post.
Really. Buy blue quality items every 5 levels, they are cheap and get the job done. Unless you plan on running some dungeons, you don’t need to max out your possible gear for tons of money early on. Just go for the cheap alternatives, you will hardly notice a difference and won’t feel bad for salvaging/selling them after 5 levels.
3) If you want to do crafting, the best profession hands down is the jeweler. While not as annoying to level as the chef, it’s still tiresome, so it might be better to do it on an alt, once your main has hit level 80 and you got the hang of the crafting mechanic, but a jeweler is the only profession which can actually generate cash by crafting rare(and exotic) items with little effort. More importantly, the jeweler can craft equipment for any profession, so having a maxed out jeweler allows you to easily craft accessories for whatever alt you plan on rolling. It’s also considerably easier to craft exotic accessories yourself and buy armor from dungeons/temples than the other way round.
The downside is, to get a Jeweler running, you’d need to do a lot of exploration, grinding ore chunks and killing elementals left and right, hoping for these random crystals to drop.
Some other hints:
-Signet build: If you look for an efficient build, there is a trait, which gives you +40 precision per equipped signet. As warrior has signet skills for all 5 utility slots, that’s +200 precision. From level 30 to level 60, there is no more efficient way to raise your damage output than that… Then, at some point, permanent uptime on Fury will be more efficient at rasing your crit chance.
-High natural Regeneration: Once you got a master’s manual, you can put 15 points into defense, giving you access to a passive regeneration based on your adrenaline level. Slot a healing signet(passive effect: health regeneration) and a dolyak signet(passive bonus to toughness) and any non-champions will have a hard time taking you down.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.

Rule #1 for new players … Don’t read this board. Seriously. Enjoy the game and enjoy the levels, scenery, story and explorations. Try new things and find your own style. There is no ‘right build’ especially from levels 1-20, try all the weapons.
Rule #2, see rule #1. Reread the first sentence above.
I dropped into this thread as a veteran player but Warrior noob looking for advice, and spotted one thing I think nearly everybody could use a refresher on:
When selling on the Trading Post, the price you sell at isn’t what you’ll actually receive. Placing an item for sale involves a Fee of 5% of the price you’re trying to sell for, non-refundable even if you later take the item off the listings unsold. And then there’s a further 10% fee taken off when the item actually sells. So the return you get is %15 less than the amount you list the item for. However, the minimum price you can list things for is the Vendor value +1 Copper. A ton of stuff gets traded for this exact value… which means the Listing Fee and Sales Fee are actually dropping your auction values lower than what you’d get just selling junk to NPCs. Some players are aware of this but consider it an acceptable loss when selling from out in the field, to keep from having to run back to a Vendor NPC. A tiny handful are deliberately seeding the market with cheap goods for various reasons. Most players just aren’t paying attention, and would probably be furious if they knew how much the losses over time eventually add up to.
Paying attention to this won’t make a really huge difference in your earnings, but every copper piece helps.

Also, I absolutely agree. The emotional tenor of the Forums should not be taken as indicative of the game. This is where angry people go to be angry, or to try to make themselves appear smarter than others, and the signal to noise ratio can get a little awful. So be sure to subject any communication you observe here to rigorous in-game experimentation before accepting it as true. The forums can still be a valuable resource, but you have to be prepared to wade through a lot of bullcrap to find the diamonds.

How true! I find it often very painful to peruse the forums. There are some very experienced players who can really provide some very useful tips. I play most of the professions now, and you never know what info you may come across. I often just look and find things I had not previously thought of.
But….the vitriol, the hatred, the condescension….it is awful. And unavoidable if you want to try and learn here.
The personal attacks get nasty and vile, and the absurd exaggerations made by an extremely vocal minority ( who are not representative of the whole; the forums just attract them in droves) to justify their desired nerfs will easily mislead a new player. And not just about the state of a given profession, but about the general nature of the player base as a whole.
yeah alot has been said but for warrior levelling pick up a good ole Greatsword Axe/warhorn for mobility get 5 signet’s and pick up the trait that gives 40 precision per unused Signet…Arms Tier 1 (10points) deep strikes with that u can plow from lvl 1 to 60 Ezmode..60+ is just a tad bit harder:P but welcome to the warrior familly
Use warrior signet build until level 60 – it owns everything.
