I have 80 warrior, all exotic weapons, 3 exotic armor sets (power+crt.dmg/vit+tough/and condition). So, condition war with sword with main hand good in pve/wvwvw? And what better for offhand?

80’s: Sylvari Necromancer (Main). Human: Thief, Warrior (PvP Main), Engineer. Charr Guardian

i used sword/shield warrior for quite a while and it worked beautifully. unfortunately, i moved servers (from tier 7 to tier 3) and now that im running into players who are actually smart enough to have condition removal, my bleed build doesnt work as well anymore.

it definitely has the potential to do a lot of damage, but literally 1 condition removal can negate it

Maybe it works better in a team, where other classes can cover your conditions with other different conditions?

I use Sword/Sword and have had no problem whatsoever. I like swords. Although I will say that I only do open world pve.

Condition loses out to pure dmg.

Tried and tested.

Was a full bleed warrior, switched over to full zerker.

Direct damage > conditions. It will most likely be balanced in the future but for now, direct damage is superior

Notable pros of a warrior bleed build:

  • The sword applies 8 second duration bleeds (one of, if not the highest, auto attack bleed duration in the game)
  • Adept trait in the Arms tree for a 50% increase in bleed duration; spend 10 points and the sword auto-attack bleeds are at 12 seconds in duration, off-hand sword bleeds go to 18 seconds. IMHO, this level of auto-attack duration mean it is less important to find bleed/condition duration bonuses through Runes/Consumables/etc.
  • Easy access to lots Might which buffs condition damage

My issues with bleed builds in general is always:

  • The maximum of 25 stacks of conditions on any single target and what seems to still be unknown mechanics of what happens when the max is reached
  • The ramp up time to apply bleeds to have enough stacks where the damage is finally at a decent level (making bleed builds almost pointless in general PvE farming, since the trash mobs are dead long before you can apply any significant damage)

My issues with bleed builds specifically for warriors is:

  • Pigeon-holed into using Either Sword and/or Rifle; I find sword to be the better option, but this requires being in melee combat which means the need for survivability
  • Has zero non-weapon/on attack skills to apply bleeds; the only non-weapon skill that applies bleeding is the Minor Adept trait in the Arms line, which is only a 33% chance on critical hits. This means the warrior MUST be actively attacking targets with a weapon to apply and maintain stacks of bleed.
  • No true AoE related bleeds skills. Yes, the sword has a swing arc that can hit multiple targets and a rifle can be traited to pierce allowing multiple targets to be hit. But these are best case scenarios for both weapons, and PALE in comparison to some of the other AoE bleed abilities available to other classes

Do I enjoy my hybrid bleed/direct damage warrior? Absolutely. But, too often it’s not as effective as either my DPS or tank build. I used to carry each set of gear in my inventory full time. I eventually put all my condition damage related items in my bank… I just wasn’t using it enough.

If you are going sword bleed build its terrible. Try LB burn build. I regret building a full rampagers set for sword/sword bleed build it was horrible. The rate of bleed stack is horribly slow on war.

I have yet to try a fully burn build but it seems fun. Or you can do both sword/x/bow

Also rifle needs to loose the random bleed on auto atk. It is no where near to being a cond weapon.

I hope so because I am a fan of condition warriors.

The only class in PvP that really feels the effect of bleed would be probably a thief, and your fellow warrior of course. And it has already been said that direct damage is always higher anyway.

That said, bleed is very useful with 25 points into Arms for the 10% bonus to bleeding foes, but stacking becomes unnecessary, as long as you have one bleed active. Further, with that kind of investment into Arms, you’ll be applying bleeds on 1 in 3 crit hits with any weapon.

Problem with bleed for warriors is the rate + factor that we need to be in melee range to inflict them. Its kinda gimpy to focus on condition dmg, but if you spec a bit evenly with power/condition dmg, you become hybrid, and potentially can be succesful in some areas. Otherwise, bleed needs fixing for warriors atleast. Too difficult to apply not to mention apply other conditions, and too easy to remove on other classes. Warriors seem currently stuck to using just Direct dmg currently, cause full zerk/direct dmg gear, works better with sword currently than does condition dmg. Same with bow/rifle.

The main effectiveness of it is that it allows you to be mobile and tag opponents. It is effective against thieves specifically because their invisibility doesn’t necessarily remove the conditions you stack. In essence you gain the ability to tag enemies and run.. control the battles pace. The thing is, so can the other builds. Sword needs to be improved.

It is my opinion as a min/maxer who enjoys checking builds and comparing them that the other warriors have some sort of strength and some sort of weakness. Sigil and foods can allow you to cover up the holes and become competitive. The other warrior builds are balanced and other builds such as sword condition damage should be improved to be on the same plain of power. This would improve the amount of viable options as warrior.
