I’m super excited about the changes coming in! Awesome work Anet ^^

Only thing I noticed in the whole traits of warrior is how weak the adept trait -Armored attack- is. We had 10% as a passive when going into defense and now is it reduced to 7% while being a trait we must chose… especially if you look at the traits in which it is paired with.

Dogged March is considered one of the best wvw/pvp trait for warriors. It grants a passive which heals you when impared with movement restricting ability while reducing the duration of the soft cc itself. You can look at the many builds on Metabattle for warriors, Dogged march is almost always there -> http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki

Shield Master is really situational, but does wonder when the requirement for it to be used are met (it still gives a cooldown reduction and might stacks as a passive which is not to be overlooked).

Armored attack : 7% tougness converted to power. On a full ptv build it can amount to maybe 150 power or so (did not do the maths). It can be considered pretty useful, yet in comparison to the 2 other traits mentionned above it seems fairly weak.

My suggestion : makes some change so the adept trait in order for it to give you the hard question of : ‘’Should I take this or should I not?’’

Ideas on how to obtain this kind of feeling :

1. Merge -Armored attack- with -Thick skin-. Gives a static 5% of your toughness as an increase in power while maintaining the passive from thick skin and bring forward a completly new trait for the now non-existent Adept trait. The new trait could be more in the line of -Cautious dodge- : At the end of a dodge roll, heal yourself for X amount of hp OR increase toughness by 150 for 2-3 second. Basically something which is the opposite of -reckless dodge-.

2. Just replace -Armored attack or -Thick skin- and bring forth a new trait which either bring an interesting mechanic with dodge roll (if a dodge roll successfuly makes an ennemy miss an attack, increase toughness and power by X amount for 5 seconds -> make it rewarding to time your dodge rolls, yet the reward is higher.

3. Just replace -Armored attack and bring forth a new trait that can compare with Dogged march or Shield master (in need of ideas, please share).

Those are my thoughts on the subject. Let me know if you disagree with me (maybe I am wrong and -Armored attack- is seen as an incredible trait) or if you enjoy my ideas. If you have other ideas, feel free to share them!

I agree. Armored Attack made sense as a Minor.

But it’s stupid as a choice, especially since it competes with Dogged March, and Shield Master. Well, competes is the wrong phrase… more like gets destroyed by.

Merging it into Thick Skin would actually make perfect sense. It might need to be nerfed down to 5% but it would solve two issues at once: Thick skin being useless, and armored attack never being picked.

Some self copy/pasta:
I also dont see why they nerfed armored attack from 10% to 7% either. Assuming you have a toughness of 1800 or so from soldiers gear, which is fairly high, thats +180 power at 10%, or 126 power at 7%. Blech, 126 power for yourself only? Empower Allies is =150 power for EVERYONE, 150×5=750 power total. Armored attack in its current form and location is not a choice, it’ll never get picked.

Indeed. I did read a bit of the others users thought on all the warriors changes. Most of them are positive and I am also seeing the changes into a positive way. Most of the traits that were not used will now have a chance of being used depending on the build you run.

The only other trait that seems to recieve almost no love is -Death from above- as an adept trait in strength. But the traits it is paired with doesn’t seem to utterly overwhelm it. The 2 others traits are more combat oriented while Death from above is that utility you might enjoy. 50% dammage reduction from falling can be utterly fun in a wvw scenario where you have people following behind as you jump down… for you it is safe, for them it is not… they follow and die -insert evil laught here- :’) Also take into account the new WvW map coming with HoT which is more vertical, it could very well become combat oriented

I’m not asking to bring an OP trait. Just something which could make me want to try it. Basically, if the trait allows me to leave behind Dogged march or Shield master with a heartbreak OR make me choose Shield master/Dogged march with a heartbreak.

Because right now → you use a shield? Shield master. You don’t? → Dogged march.
