Guardian Longbow
The warrior longbow might get buffed to 1200 base range as well, I don’t see the range increase mentioned in the only remaining longbow trait.
Our longbow is fine, there’s a reason everyone runs it in pvp (giant fire field, reliable CI procs, blast finisher, immobilize, blind, etc). The guardian one has better damage but less utility, plus they have to give up one of their trait lines.
I’m really not sure what the point of this thread is.
The only utility warrior longbow has over DH is the fire field everthing else the DH can do just as well if not better.
In PvP warrior longbow is good because most the fighting occurs on a point, a point which the fire field covers well and allows for might stacking and synergies well with pin down.
The DH #2 being targetted instead of GTAoE means it doesnt get a blast finisher, but for doing damage its way better; shorter CD, less chance to miss, faster projectile etc.
DH #3 is hard to compare, because it’s a directional attack and could easily miss.
The autoattack is very nice, but really what made me squirm a bit was the traits to go with the longbow… if a melee weapon was given a possible 75% uptime on stability (3s duration 4s CD iirc?) potential for a spammable bouncing cripple it’d be called OP so fast! Yet here’s a ranged one, and couple it with a knockback on a 7s CD? Good luck pinning down a ranged guardian!

And yet shoutbow will remain one of the strongest builds in the game for PvP. You can’t compare abilities directly.
DH Bow 2 also roots you for 3/4 sec.

Literally because of Combustive Shot. That’s why. Not the weapon skills.

Pin Down is quite nice as well.

Lol..
Guardian 1200 range default..
-AA Guardian is stronger
-True Shot VS Arcing Arrow
True shot does same dmg on a 4 sec CD!
-Deflecting shot VS Smoldering Arrow
Both blind your enemy
Deflecting shot 10 sec CD Dmg is very nice! 615 AND reflect arrows
Smoldering Arrow 15 sec CD Dmg is very low.. around 150And then you have “Symbol of Energy” not bad if you think about it > its a Symbol!! (trait that gives 20% more dmg on symbols)
And then OFC
-Hunter’s Ward VS Pin down
Not really sure how this skill works but kitten its a 6 sec ring around 5 targets! sounds very nice in pvp if you setup traps before!! not only that!
But holding people in place + Traps + symbols + the traits that gives INSANE dmg on symbols etc etc.. = insaneIts like they have been looking at Warrior longbow but just made it better
I don’t think that we can compare them like this, they’re balanced differently. I completely understand your point, and this is just my opinion, it’s the same as whirling wrath vs 100b. Whirling wrath wins in dmg by quit a bunch ( I believe ) – for the time for the time being ofc. And u can move. Warrior has higher base health of a reason.
- You will probably not agree, that’s fine, I just think that it’s not unbalanced because of numbers and cd’s on some abilities, and besides, bow makes big fire field for blasts and whatnot.

Lel 8 months later and OP is still sour about Guardian. Gee darn, those mean Guardians still rolling over you?

You would be spamming these threads in the profession balance forums if they’d still exist And no I didn’t read through your history, I remember your threads for getting infracted by replying in them
Speaking from a Ranger’s point of view, I am not sure you have too much to complain about. But i do understand your frustration.
Also, in my opinion, the warrior long bow hasn’t ever really been much more than an alternate weapon to begin with. I think i remember a back line bow build a long time ago, but i rarely see anyone using it.
I should also probably mention that I haven’t played a warrior much, and never at max level or end game content(if there was such a thing).
As the devs say each week in the twitch shows, mechanics are final, but not the numbers. It’s better for them to lower the numbers then try and raise them, in terms of balancing.
All i can say is, just wait till the dust settles, and the smoke clears.
Honestly the DH bow is much more comparable to the Ranger bow. As others have stated the War bow is about hybrid utility. Ranger is about straight up damage and mild control, and DH is in about the same boat.
Also OP, go back and look at the DH lb 5, it (currently) has a 60 sec cd, and those barriers can most likely just be walked through with stability.
My only sad point is:
DH arrows pierce by default (and have annoying anti-melee kb, but Big Game Hunter is just better so I doubt it will see too much use, but it does have passive +10% ranged damage and +10% crippled dam)
Ranger arrows pierce with a trait (that also increases attack speed by 10% and cd by 20%, but they lose 10% damage vs. impaired movement). Btw, that trait reduces the ranger rapid shot cd to 4.8 sec vs. DH 4, but it also is designed to get around blind, Aegis, and dodges more, plus gets a lot more out of combo fields, plus with the Quick Draw you could have the CD be 0.84 sec.
Warriors get: 20% cd and burning on the AA, which I can’t wait to use btw, but…..
Compare the traits and it does feel a little like warriors are left out. Without seeing how burning is going to work with stacks (both damage and scaling) I can’t tell if it’s lacking or not. In WvW with the anti condi runes and food it already feels like condi’s run out too quick, and there has been no mention of what’s happening with +condi/boon duration from trait lines, so 1s of burn will do hardly any damage with the partial tick. On paper I’d still like something. Maybe increased projectile speed, so you can hit with the #3 better, maybe just faster attack speed so it’s easier to actually pin down someone with the trait. But if we get to some crazy burn stacks my war should be happy with that.

Ranged AoE psuedo-Ring of Warding is pretty nice too. Pin down is half the CD, but has much less actual impact on the battle than something like the Guardian Longbow 5 does. Plus, Guardians don’t even need that immob nearly as much as warrior does. Their damage is far more reliably consistent without CC. Basically, all Longbow for Warrior does better is its F1, and that’s not a mechanic Guardian literally even has, so of course it’ll be good. The weapon skills are worse for Warrior, but what really matters are builds. Right now Longbow is on every Warrior build, including Shoutbow, and we have no idea what Guardian Longbow will be good for (Seems like a straight upgrade from Scepter though), so we’ll have to wait and see before actually rendering any judgement on balance.
