I think warriors are not in a bad spot atm with the condi S/S LB build or the M/S
GS which is a bit OP in wvw because of food but how about the people that prefer more defense and control builds like hammer or axe/shield example. Thats where the problem comes from the kiting issue : the strongest classes in tpvp like necromancers
and engineers can kite us with ease we do have some gap closers but its not enough
i think the range of our skills should be slightly increased it could solve many problems and lets face it we still an underdog class in pvp . And the m/s /GS build is just meh there is an incoming nerf for sure to this thing but at least give us something else in return .

Gotta get mobile strikes. Axe, shield and hammer all benefit from it.

Sadly mobile strikes doesn’t work on chill. I’ve been spamming the forums for months asking for it to include it. You can also be immobilized while using a leap that has mobile strikes.

I actually had some bad warriors saying mobile strikes is fine ! I guess they like being kited and slapped around.

The problem isn’t kiting, it’s your build.

Both Hammer and Axe are currently the bottom feeders of the weapon’s list in PvP. The problem here is that you have 2 weapon sets, but you chose to fill them with weapons that both share the same exact problems – Mobility and range. Together they suffer horribly. What can you do against someone at range? Nothing. Hammer has no way of closing distance or even any relevant amount of defense to use while closing the gap. Axe has 1 ranged very mediocre cripple and that’s it. Of course you’re going to get kited to death.

On top of that both weapons are competing for the same resource – Adrenaline. The only reason to use either lies in their burst skills (AoE stun from hammer and single target burst from axe), but you can’t use them together. So when you land that juicy Eartshaker stun you’d want to follow up with some big damage, but you lack the adrenaline for Eviscerate… Without Eviscerate there are far better options for damage in PvP (like Sword). Meanwhile, if you land an Eviscerate first (for…some reason) that also temporarily denies the hammer its only reason to be…

The whole point of having 2 weapon sets is to have complementary sets. In this case both weapon sets are fighting each other over the same flaws and strengths, resulting in a dysfunctional build akittens core.

So the problem here is not the Warrior class, or kiting, but your build. You need better mobility or ranged capacity.

agree with above poster. you will need to chose either 1h sword or greatsword for gapclosing or use a rifle. longbow offers a decent immobilize, but that alone wont cut it either. leg specialist may help with gap closing for axe.

i fear we will look back to this day and remember the good old wvw as it is now – Jan 2015

Personally, when I was running around with Axe in WvW, I found myself using Axe/Warhorn for the Swiftness a lot. That changed with the buff to Warrior’s Sprint.

And as Proxy pointed out, the issue is that you’re choosing weapons that are notorious for lacking in mobility. The most mobile weapon combination on Warrior, Greatsword with Sword/Warhorn, is ridiculous with its getaway ability. Heck, even Greatsword alone gets you a lot more than what some classes have access to.

Hehe they stopped kiting when I skullcracked them >:) I had 4 seconds of stunned no kiting with them with my greatsword and they shut up xD but in all seriousness, I agree, some extra range or more gapcloser options would definitely benefit us.

I’m finding that relying on LB and rifle are easier than melee weapons -rifle needs more work as a weapon-.

I mean..all the classes in this game are ranged if you think about it:
Mesmer,necro,Engy,Ranger
Thief is ranged since they have zero problem closing in on you
Guardians bunk in effective spvp so you have to reach them

So why should you be the only class that struggles with chasing targets that teleport and stealth all over the place?

Did you guys read my post i know some weapons offer a better mobility but i dont use them . Thats why i think the ranger on some weapon sets
Should be increased . Im not gonna run the cookie cutter skullcrack
Or S\W+GS just to run away .

Then run LB+rifle with some physical utilities to create a gap

or

GS and axe/shield

You either go ranged, mobile strikes, dogged marcn or take GS

You clearly didn’t read ours.

You’re using a knife and a fork to eat soup with, then complaining it’s not working. When we tell you to use a spoon you tell us that you don’t want to use spoons, cause “e’rrybody doin’ that!”. Well, then… you’re kittened buddy.

Warrior has some of the best mobility options in the game outside of a Thief. If you’re not using them that’s your fault.

i.e.: The problem is you.
