I main Warrior, as of recently I’ve seen soo many other players in Spvp as Warriors constantly use Rampage and nothing else.

It’s getting quite ridiculous because it’s become a “press to win button” with the Peak Performance Trait.

I remember before the specialization patch, I was the one of the only few Warriors to use Rampage, back when it was 150 sec cooldown and not a Physical.

It involved timing and skill.

Now, any baffoon that can press 0 and spam from 1-5 keys can use it. I find this to be a real issue, despite myself being a Warrior.

As a suggestion, I’d rather make Rampage into a Stance. So rather than have recharge reduc and dmg increase. It should just get duration increase with some vigor when traited, it’s much more balanced and tactical.

This would put Rampage back in the Fun status that I enjoyed pre-patch, and give it a nice niche rather than “press to win for any build”.

Rampage is a bit strong BUT the warr class is a bit weak ATM. Without it I think we would be lower tier.

I was using rampage for a while now. I liked it cause it gave my zerk warr some zerg pushing ability. Before patch the warr class was a bit stronger and rampage was weaker and most ran signet of rage. I do think that a good player with signet of rage would still win again a average player that use rampage since it’s so easy to counter. Most people does it right now. As of right now the first 6 to 9 sec are the most dangerous when facing a rampage warrior.

There are many downside to rampage. Your condi clearing is very bad and if you can’t land your big hit you are actually doing worst than not using it. Thief hide away when you use it, ele pop everything and move away, good warriors/melee rangers will manage their skill and make you feel stupid using it, mesmers just does what they do to anyone or Moa you. Necro, some engi build and pewpew ranger are the only class that I would consider as an easy win.

Rampage didn’t involve timing and skill pre patch, it just did less (but still enough) damage and was on 30s longer cooldown. It was actually easier to use because players weren’t used to deal with it.

Rampage needs either a reduction in damage output and interrupts or a longer cooldown. Like Battle Standard can also turn around a fight but you can use it only 1-2 times per match.

That warrior can quickly solo the lord in Foefire, even with defending player, should also be adressed. You can actually win almost every match as long as you don’t trail by too many points.

It’s the only good thing about a weak class. Before Eles and Mesmers are left as they are, Rampage remains fine.

The skill is currently the only chance you get as a warrior in the current state of the game in PvP when facing decent opponents that are not completely bad.

It has a SHORT duration – any decent opponent will avoid you for that duration of time.

I’ve had no problem keeping rampage warriors at bay on the other classes i play in pvp ( guardian, thief and ranger).

It’s just that the counterplay with rampage is different then what more players are used to : Warrior pops rampage? Wait it out and do not engage – kite and avoid him for 20 seconds then push in and fight.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

my solution for this is to nerf rampage (just change skill typw from physical to transform back) and nerf mes and ele. Then the game balance should be fine.

agreed everytime i come across a warrior he pops Rampage. I actually went back to signet of rage to experiment with other builds but i feel like i need to go back to rampage so that i can deal with the other rampagers out there.

Oh and @yanoch, you dont need to worry about condi clearing since you get 6 sec of condi immunity if you pop heal signet before using rampage. All the rampage damage is in the first 6 sec anyway.

Such things being said ‘i see it everywhere it’s OP’, ‘its an auto win it’s OP’, ‘warriors suck if they don’t use it’, etc etc. Not really anything concrete at least from a numbers side. The only thing I’d actually consider is what op said about the synergy between peak performance and rampage. Seems like if there were anything that need be nerfed it’d be peak performance synergy with rampage. I remember seeing someone mention making it a stance or something, maybe this would help?

All that being said it’s hard to say without some pretty numbers and a solid comparison to whatever is ‘balanced’ that is: Is rampage meta/OP because it’s a cheesy face-roll and people can’t play warrior without it and because user doesn’t have required skill to play warrior without a cheese button. Or is it because it’s truly overpowered with peak performance via comparison with other similar builds and numbers.

Similar case I’d argue mesmer PU is overpowered now because of the fancy burst, but I’ve come to see that really it’s just my failure to recognize play-style and damage/burst mitigation for me at least. I say this due to I can actually avoid mesmer burst very easily now and can actually kill one if I do my rotations well.

IMO Rampage is a bit OP, but relative to the current meta, War w/o Rampage is a little UP. The class viability is basically propped up by the elite.

Thats not to say the class is BAD, it just seems to me that War power-crept upwards less than the other classes did in the major patch.

In a 1v1 sure. I can ocassionally outsmart a Rampage warrior but if it’s a good player and it’s a close fight, dude pops rampage after landing a hard hit and gg. Plus if you’re running a hammer set, you can just bait out an enemy’s stun break or stab then pop Rampage when you know it’s on cooldown and laugh as you face roll them do death.

Rampage is extremely week vs someone who can effectively use conditions or someone who can effectively dodge or block its front loaded power. I have literally lost to people with rampage but beat them with signet of rage in its place. It is quite strong in team fights though.

It would be cool if peak performance was for something other than making rampage good. All of the other skills do laughable damage so the increase from peak performance is negligible.

For whatever reason A-net has been trying to get to this point for almost 1 year now.

Rampage has been repeatedly buffed while at the same time the other elite has been progressively nerfed (remember the signet boons duration got cut -for no reason- just as rampage got buffed, clearly to try and make people move away form it in favor of the transform).

Lately warbanner even got a quiet nerf by removing the cd reduction trait… which i cant imagine was done to nerf banners uptime in pve…

In short: Anet really wanted us to use rampage for some reason, they finally succeded.

Rampage is only effective 1v1 against people who are clueless to the class (and necros, but thats due to the poorly designed class with ridiculous stability uptime or active defense).

But i’ll admit, in team fights rampage is just being lazy and braindead.

I think they will nerf it soon, since right it does too much damage AND cc. Its just like the previous gs/hammer build that used to shine a year ago, they didn’t want warriors to have both.
Nerfed it, then became unviable.

So yeah, warriors are living their last times as viable, sadly.

Most non power specialization using 1hander has super weak damage for SPvP.

try dual wield without power build. Its impossible. Rampage is the only damage honestly.

Fix the rest of the class before nerfing the few good elements we have….
