Stronghold builds
For sure Stronghold will open up new builds. Sword/GS builds will probably be one of the first that gets popular. You can quickly down other roamers with Sword burst+HB, aid in downing NPC’s with GS damage and move around the map at an almost uncontested speed (only thieves are faster). So yeah, a warrior roaming spec will probably be viable in that game mode.

I can see GS/Hammer get more popular than Sword/GS. You will move faster for sure but the CC Hammer provides gives more to the table than the mobility Sword gives

It brings more to the table in teamfights, the question is if that will be the focus. Sword gets you incredible speed, and you can combine it with Warhorn for vigor, permaswiftness, weakness application and a blast finisher for teamfights. This game mode will be like a GW2 MOBA, so a character that can push and still be there in time for the teamfight might be essential.
All speculation, but it seems GS will definitely have a place in Stronghold.

Sure you will get in team fight faster but what you will do then? GS/Hammer has been meta for Roaming either solo and small group because it help in team fights with damage and CC. GS/Sword will only help with GS damage and some boons. Sure Vigor is good and a blast finisher too, bu Hammer has blast finisher too with CC. If you want to help more with GS/Sword you will need to go Warhorn and have to go with condi removal, which will make you lose damage. Flurry is hard to land and 100b has never been the primal source of damage on GS in PvP. GS damage come from all other utility because 100b requires setup, and even then Hammer does that better than GS
Anyway we will also get specializations and a F2 skill so it is harder to speculate which spec will be better but IMO it will still be GS/Hammer and I am just happy to see GS and damage Warrior might became a thing in Stronghold. That and seeing some cheese builds like Turret Engi going away there. Basicly builds that suck in Conquest might become good in Stronghold and builds that are really good in Conquests might suck really hard in Stronghold.
Anet better get a system so we can swap builds fast since maps will be all the in same vote page or this will suck as much as Courtyard :/ having all maps with different play modes all together in the same vote page might destoy some games if ppl don’t have enough time to swap builds …
Well, I guess it boils down to how important added speed will be.
Anyway, I am looking forward to it. Regular PvP is incredibly boring to me.

Agreed. The mode is a bit late but might be just in time to make GW2 PvP go to some sort of next level if it gets sucessful and it’s done well. IMO a mode like this at launch and PvP would be much different, and Conquest could be introduced now has a new mode
Yep. The only thing that worries me right now is that they say there will only be two lanes. I’d say three lanes would be more challenging and would open up more diverse tactics.

I wish they’d take the MOBA idea further. Three lanes, like Cygnus said, would be a start. But also, slower pushing. Judging by the demos, you can really easily push the lane out till their inner gate in less than 5 minutes.
I’d wish Arenanet made the span of Stronghold around 30 minutes, with slower pushing, longer death timers and proper objectives. This way when you can get a kill onto someone, it can actually mean something, but not give huge advantages because there’s slow pushing.
I dislike how one half of the team pushes for victory and the other defends. You don’t really know what’s going on at the other half of the map unless you’re on TS. If they’d make bigger objectives and longer death timers, it would mean teams would try to stick together more.
