Hey guys I am warrior since Guild Wars 2 start and I am sad because I see that Axe in the off hand is really ugly. At the start Whirling Axe made 5000 ~ 10000 of damage and Arena nerf it , after this Arena put reflect projectiles and nerf damage wich was very good but it was not for a long time now the Axe in off hand is ridiculous and now it is a weapon that nobody use so I am here to find people with my mind and to see more opinions about it because I am certain that Arena Net read the posts and we can change it.
The principal problem of axe in my opinion is the low damage when u see the another weapons but I am here to see the opinions ^^

Reflect projectiles? Isn’t that the ranger version?

I actually really like whirling axes, but I admit it’s pathetic. The single benefit of that skill is that you can dodge while it’s up without interrupting it. Otherwise all it can do outside of farming is build adrenaline, and axe does that pretty well with just the auto attack.

In WvW on my tankier builds when another warrior does this, I actually run into it on purpose and start hitting him because the little damage it does is worth it for a target that won’t try to run away.

Yes it was in BWE 2 ..
I really love use double axes because it is beautiful and style but the damage is ridiculous, the autto attack is very good but lets see the rest:
Cyclone Axe = 4 vulnerability for 8 seconds with 6 seconds of colldown
4 s of Cripple with 10 seconds of colldown
Fury for 2s in each hit 12 seconds colldown
Whirling axes with a ugly damage

Axe will disappear.. this way longbow will do more direct damage than axe lmao.

The axe autoattack does way more AoE damage than Whirling axes and most warrior builds have permanent fury anyways.

I agree, the offhand axe needs to be reworked completely imho, couse at this point it’s useless for any decent warrior.

All the benefits of an axe build but with more vulnerability and a knock/down interrupt. What’s not to like.

Plus all the traits that add benefits to using an axe in your off hand also work with mace so you don’t even really need to switch anything up as far as that goes.

Oh yeah man at the moment I use warhorn but I am telling that axe in the off hand need a rework very fast or nobody will use it more. The thing that makes the Warrior different is the bunch of weapons so anyweapon need be great option.

I know that mace is very good with axe in the maind hand but I am not here to discuss about axe in main hand because I think that in the main axe is ’’okay’’ but in the off – hand it is ugly and need rework.

Is the whirling attack different for thieves? I was wondering why warriors never used it because as a thief, when I steal that skill and use it, with an all glass cannon build the max I’ve gotten is 10K. I’m assuming anet nerfed it for warriors but not thief steal?

Since WvW is pretty much Zerg vs Zerg axe 5 can really shine. use a gap closer to get into range then start spinning on the clump of enemies, just be ready to swap to sword/board so you can shield block out and leap away when that ends because you will be focused after that initial omgwtf moment the enemy has.
Now I’m not saying the dmg isn’t weak, because it is. But its a our one real melee AoE attack that hits everything around you, lets you move, and lets you dodge which is a lot considering most other power attacks root you/are super slow. You cant ask for it to be a high single target attack because if it was it would just snowball out of control vs groups of enemies.
The move itself does need tweaks though. maybe a shorter CD, or a small dmg boost, or an added affect. A 20 second CD with no bonus and so little damage is just a joke. But Anet is of the mind that we’re the most balanced class so any changes to us are very unlikely

I agree with you but in one hand we know that you can dodge do damage in aoe melee etc but why you will do it ? the damage is like 5k in players full berzekers so is a ridiculous damage because if you want to spin in the zerg you need put vitality or toughness or something like that so you lose in damage too.. the skill need a boost or will be more useless..
Anet is of the mind that the classes need be balanced so I think we can show to anet our opinion and they will understand ! Lets try, no pain no gain!

Its a pity that axe offhand is underpowered, I wanted to be dual-axe warrior but it doesnt seem feasible for now. I’m currently looking for a good offhand alternative

i think number 5 is fine the dmg isnt great but its dmg and its fun number 4 needs some work its lacking big time i think they need to add a leap in with it as a gap closer that would totally make it usable and not mess with dmg

Agree if they kept 4 the same damage but made it a leap and add something more to the 5 like reflect projectiles or have it throw its own projectiles while spinning then it would be used a lot more.

As Spifnar said, Combo Fields can increase the damage a fair amount, and the other thing you’re forgetting is that, for a meager 10 points in Arms, you get a 33% chance to inflict meaningful bleeds on every crit, and Whirling Axe hits a LOT. It’s not a bad choice for a condition build, and you can even use it to build up stacks of vulnerability, too, which is pretty nice for groups. I could see a Rampager-geared Warrior going Sword/Axe instead of Sword/Sword for a more AoE oriented condition build.

Interestingly, (and I’m not sure if this has been changed) if you do whirling axe you can actually push enemies around. It was very handy in a jump puzzle when an enemy thought i had used all my knockbacks, only to find that i was pushing him off a cliff with my axes!

Easy, small damage bonus for every successful hit on a target with Whirling Axes. Buff up the damage a little but not to much. Problem solved!

I like it as is though. It is a little less powerful than the hundred blade strikes, but its good for mobs and turning around really really fast. Mind you I am only PvE at the moment and not very far into the game so I will probably revisit it all at the end once I max out.

I was thinking about experimenting with a pure power & precision build dual axes and a GS but upping the Crit% given how many times you hit with cyclone & whirling surely that ould have to make a difference. But as I said, fairly new to GW2 I am probably putting a fairly silly suggestion out there.

That number is the total damage it’s done to that target. It adds up each hit the skill makes.

Skills that do multiple hits all measure that way as far as I know. Most average mobs would be dead by the end of it if it was displaying per-hit damage.

I think that skill 5 of axe need a bonus of 50~100% in damage right now because when you use this you are vulnerable to Control Effects and you will hit 5 guys because have a cap of players or reflect projectiles.. another skill that need remake is 4 of axe. Lets go guys I am happy about alot of opinions

Actually, you can use dodge during the skill to avoid control, without cancelling the attack. So in that respect it’s no worse than anything else.

Oh of course that we can dodge but I think that this is not sooo good because in the zerg for example you will receive alot of attacks doesn’t matter the dodge I think that actually this skill just works in pve and in my opinion the focus os this skill need be in a group of monters or in the zergs or to broke balistas etc so if arena up the damage or put projectile reflect will be a good option to use ( double axe ) if arena will not do it our choose will go to greatswords that can do a huge damage with hundred and the spin do more damage than the axe..
