Hello guys

I’ve been active for a short while in the forums now, and i really wanted to point out how much I would love to see an arena mode in Guild Wars 2.

I am a PvP player. I basically devote all my time i can spare into PvP.
Especially PvP in MMO’s is a lot to my liking.
I like having a lot of abilities, and being able to play in the third person against other players. For me its the ultimate PvP it’s where most fun comes from in every kind of MMO.

I’ve been playing WoW arenas for years. I was under the top 1-5 Teams basically every time i played actively.

I completely see how sPvP and WwW can be a lot of fun but for the some of us its just not it. Some of us are looking for a non Battleground like PvP mode. A mode where killing the opponent means winning the game. The arena mode is in my opinion really missing here.
I think its great having a mode where capturing points is necessary but i don’t see myself playing Guild Wars 2 in the future because of the lack of arena.

I can only see arenas being very beneficial to the game because it promotes very intense team play, perfection of professions and another option of e-sport.
Its very good for players that want to group with a team consisting of 2,3, 4 or 5 people.
You can join quickly and stop playing whenever you like. The matches can be very past paced or very long and intense depending on the enemy skill level.
There is no need of team organization, player will be able to quickly find two or more others for their team.
It would give endless content to all players relatively easy. Hours and hours of game play.

I really like Guild Wars 2 a ton so far. I basically enjoy every aspect of it but the fact that there is no arena is really giving me a hard time playing the game any longer.
I don’t want to offend here Arena.net, your game is fantastic it’s just not doing it for me at this time because i only really love doing arenas.

I want to ask you all of you guys here in the forums how much you would like to see arena happening in Guild Wars 2. Feel free to bless us with your constructiveness

I’m very eager to hear from Arena.net. Anything at all would be just great. Whether you are thinking about it or there is no chance at all that arena will happen doesn’t matter. Any kind of information would be very satisfying.

Yes arena would be a great addition like add it along with tournys.

It’s a shame that so few people reply and seem not to care about it. I think I’ll be looking for something else in the future. I really wanted to like this game, really.

A very small amount of people come to the forums (compare to a couple of million playing) so there might be support for you, but they are just not vocal. No need to leave because you aren’t getting responses to your post. In fact, I’ve seen ALOT of threads about arena, and I’m willing to bet they will have them eventually. What I like tho, I can leave this game for now, and come back when they implement it and I still won’t be behind others (think of missing a season of PvP in WoW… you’d have a hell of a time getting gear to be competitive)

I would also love this change. As long as they don’t balance the profs around it.

A vote to Arenas and every single mod just adding different type of pvp .

So you are willing to do arena without awards? Because this game does not reward pvp per se…

As in WoW-arena? No thx. This is not WoW, nor should it ever try to be. I am getting pretty sick of WoW-players no being able to let go of “that game” and use a tiny bit of imagination … stop the tunnel vision please. Coming here and trying to make this game fit into the old shoe … making me really sick. Please just go back to WoW-arena’s if you miss the imbalance there.

When I got that of my chests … then yeah .. I am all for some kind of deathmatch. I would by FAR prefer something inspired by the old HoH and hence be true to the origins of the game (instead of adopting a bad design).

I can’t understand why you would want an arena mode, It’d be runied by 3 x pistol whip thieves and 3 x mesmer teams instantly (adjust numbers to the bracket) I played arena to a decnt lvl in wow (2300+) and i’d hate (HATE) to see it in this game

Why? As long as they don’t balance the game around it and the rewards are cosmetic, what exactly would the problem with having arenas be?

Might I remind you, if the rewards are cosmetic and don’t give you an edge over your opponents, you are NOT forced to play them.

Random Arenas in Guild Wars were amazing.
Heroes’ Ascent was incredibly fun to play.
Team Arena and then Codex Arena were also a nice touch.
GvG gave players a great tactic mode.

These were what made Guild Wars PvP amazing.
Now why aren’t these mode or something similiar in Guild Wars 2?

Sorrow, you’re forgetting Alliance Battles, CM’s, and also Hero Battles.

But honestly… The word arena is in their name, how can they only have one form of PvP…. -_-

Well… I’ve just listed the game modes I’ve found more funny to play.

Every class is good at some roles, therefore arenas would just make it “more visible” and more hated for nerfs..

This just make no sense. Guild Wars had arena and it was the most balanced game ever made. Guild Wars 2 has a different approach, since every profession can play every role they want, if a profession can’t match a role, it is simply unbalanced and Arena mode helps to pop this kitten up.

1) tPvP is not balanced. And what balance are you talking about? ANet’s motto was that you could play with ANY setup, that there won’t be cookie cutter builds etc.

2) If something that’s not well balanced becomes “more visible” – isn’t that a good thing? It means that it will actually have to be ironed out.

You don’t need to apologize as you are not the one making the final call whether there will or will not be Arenas. Your opinion is your own.

This times infinity, Just Copy the modes in GW1. i miss them.. At least RA.. Let the matches end in a minute.. it will still be a lot more fun. Hot join pvp is unbearable..

No need for arenas, after anet will implement duels and paid tournaments things will be on track , arenas really kill a mmo with unbalance.

Arena and dueling is needed! This can define the best players! Cmon !

First off, i have to say sorry to you. I didnt get the chance to apologize for my rude post in the other thread since it got locked.

Secondly, i agree with this. A competitive field where people can fight against each other is really needed. I dont know why they didnt put in the same arena style they had in GW1 since that was fighting in its purest form (except for the map with the flags, god i hated it)

Moreso since tournaments arent competitive and sPvP shoul be more of a relax game after playing 4 hours of arena, if you know what i mean

Stupid idea : Can they have an 3v3 arena , where they start with 30% damage done , and every 1 sec the effect is increased by 1% ?

Story: 3 adventures tried to cross the cold northen silverpiks mountains in a search of an ancient artifact , in order to weaken Picachu cause his Thunderball is Op :P
But they caught up in a snowstorm and fainted from the cold .
The artifact sensed their courage , but in the same time rescued and an other party of 3 friends .
Now the artifact , test their courage and let them fight each other , to find out whose worthy holding it .

They do 30% damage , cause they fainted from the cold , but with time + the heat of battle their regain their strength .
Even if there are 3 Thiefs opponents , they cant nuke 1 person in 3 secs . So for the first 30 sec the battles will be slow , but the pace would be increased in the next 30 secs , and give more time to ur team8s to react or pressure the 3 Thiefs in the meanwhile .

Or an other story : They sent u to find an dragon egg , and hatch it to Charmander :P
Examine it and try to find dragons weak spots .
An Asura gave u some heat-coated-cloaths that protect u from fire and increase stamina by 170% .
Ur party wasnt the only one that found the egg , and neither the egg was truly uprotected .
A big dragon shows up at the sides and <<heat up>> the nest with his breath , reducing ur hp by 1% every 1 sec . Edit: A Charr chopa attacks-distract the dragon at 100%

arenas are very healthy for an mmo

I would have to vote yes for arenas. I love GW2 pvp as it is and will continue to play it with or without arenas. But I still throw 15 dollars at blizzard every now and then just to get my arena fix, and I honestly hate WoW.

And to whomever asked if we would play arenas without rewards, yes we would. Most people that played arenas in wow already had the highest tier of pvp gear. They were just there to test their skills.
