Original thread closed. Keep it clean and represent our server in a better light, Ehmry Bay. Our server is known for its mature community, and the posts of the same few whiners are an embarrassment. Previous history, night capping, or mechanics are irrelevant to complain about since there is no point discussing them.

I’ll get the discussion started to set the tone. Ehmry is behind a significant amount of points and are getting suffocated by upgraded fortifications and constant defenders. Our organized guilds aren’t giving up though, and will keep making headway.

We can beat any server below us, and Maguuma is the stepping stone into the next tier. Learn from our losses and keep improving what’s within our control.

After some of the fights today in the Maguuma borderlands (possibly the most impressive large-scale siege I’ve seen since launch), I know we’ve got what it takes to take back what we’ve lost so far. Maguuma is good, and the week is only half through. Show them we are as well without the finger pointing and name-calling.

It’s definitely not just my imagination, the population of thieves is steadily rising. I’m hoping the next big patch will help with that in some way since the culling fix is effective for SPVP only at current time.

Seriously. I’m a Mag and I’m sad this is already happening. I’m glad we’re learning what we’re learning from Ebay. Also, Ebay is probably the funnest nickname I’ve had for a server.

As for ET. Good job having server pride guys. Its those who abandon their server for “winning” servers that makes me sad

Good job ET on the map. We have some good commanders that stuck with the server. It’s nice to see the low man whoop the bullies arses. We do this good with 25 ppl against 70+, I can imagine when we get to capacity. I can see where people get butthurt on WvWvW. I wish we had more functions on reporting questionable players. I have noticed a few players bouncing back to life after they had a finisher thrown down on them, only to take out 10 people AFTER they are dead. A guardian that blink warps around the field 1 shotting people, and a few other things. I guess you will always have someone take the easy way out to look leet. If that is the case, I feel sad for ya. But to the rest of you guys on the other servers fighting fairly, I salute you. Hope to see you on the battlefield.

Due to the way the score system works there is virtually no difference between winning by one point and losing by one point.

As long as we keep fighting for points we can still compete for rank.

If we stop fighting though we are likely to plummet down a few places.

I’m telling a poster to give up this masquerade that Mag is some big night capping server. His last 3 posts have been the same.

I want EB to fight harder.

Yeah, it’s really a perception thing, honestly. We’ve made the same complaints before and received the same response…we just happen to be on the other side of it now.

But we don’t often complain about it. We just wake up and take everything back. Really, it’s better for karma/money/exp when you’ve got a whole borderlands that’s takeable anyway. You’ve also got nothing to lose so you can go purely on the offensive, which is always easier to get numbers for because it takes less effort.

The only memory I have of Mag complaining about night capping was against SoS. But it wasn’t a complaint about the loss of property or points, it was a complaint of never seeing the enemy. SoS literally didn’t play at all during normal NA times. Can’t have fun if you don’t have anybody to fight.

He’s not disputing the fact that we have more points because of nightcapping. He’s just saying if you think we have a ton of oceanic guilds/players then you are sorely mistaken. You are the only server we’ve been able to do this to so far.

Read graphs, EBay increased their point income at night during their last matchup. That means Ebay are night cappers. Man I love facts.

I’m not sure why people are saying Ebay got night capped. The first day we controlled the match well into the night.

Historically it’s always the mornings that give us our biggest issue. Many of us who opened Friday stayed to defend until 8 AM EST (we were still leading) until we had to go to bed, but there was simply no one to replace us. I wake up 8 hours later and the entire map is green with everything upgraded with full supply and tons of siege.

No, we don’t have a ton of people on at night, but generally our opponents don’t either. Mornings are another issue entirely, most servers have some form of a morning presence while ours is virtually non-existent.

I mean that graph is pretty much the story of our server. Huge losses for us and huge spikes for the opponent around in the morning until the afternoon when start to take stuff back. (also keep in mind that chart isn’t the most reliable thing to trust given how that site is pretty slow to update at night so the results likely aren’t that accurate around the time they aren’t updating as often).

This shows that EBay kept their lead from Friday night to Saturday morning until 11am and Mag didn’t hit the potential point lead until 12pm Saturday afternoon. Then we’ve maintained the potential point lead since that time, like I said.

Maguuma started to lead in potential points at 6am EST which is still not night capping meaning Ehmry led at night. That said, I doubt many North Americans woke up at 6am to play GW2. Most likely candidates are the Europeans. Does Maguuma have any European guilds?

no, their time scale is using PST. you can see it starts at 5pm on the 9th.

emery bay was over taken between 9-11am saturday morning. then it seems the many of their players gave up, instead of retaking the map. emergy bay slowly started retaking everything throughout the day, however from 8pm to 2am lost everything. that’s hardly night capping by magerna, infact that’s primetime for US players.

i feel sorry for those guilds on emery bay that are still trying, seems like half your server have such a defeatist attitude.

the site lists every matchup starts at 1700 for me, however it doesn’t include daylight savings. so you just have to move times back 1 hr. so emerybay was first overtaken from 8-10am, then again from 7pm-1am. that makes my point even clearer actually.

edit: the site lists it starts at 8pm for you because you’re east coast, so it does detect your time zone and displays the time it starts for you.

The graph starts at 8pm for me as well, which is 1 hour off EST. Atlantic time or something? Regardless, certainly isn’t CET. Nothing to indicate that at all. 11am or 12pm EST is when Ebay started losing their lead.

Oh detects time zones, makes sense. The site simply isn’t updated for DST.

I don’t know why you are posting those screenshots as if we don’t have collective thick headed moments. Every server has them and everyone should be using it as a learning opportunity, not a chance to roast people who don’t know any better or troll people that should.

Yesterday I couldn’t actually build a treb in the correct spot in Garrison because my own players kept building one closeby that was on the edge of the cliff. those trebs could be targeted with iBerzerkers who would kill the correctly placed treb. Yesterday we wasted a grand total of 4 trebs doing that.

You can tell yourself w/e you want, the only reason you win is because of nightcapping+more bodies.

On day one you had more than enough players to kick our kitten and it was a great fight. Where are they now?

It’s hardly our fault your side has decided to stop turning up, is it? We were losing by 20k points, we came out in force and fought for our honour. Where was your response when we went 20k ahead of you in the middle of US day time on a weekend? Why didn’t you claw back your lead with the massive organised offensive you showed on day one??

Being outnumbered has nothing to do with it. You’re only outnumbered because half your guilds are only interested in playing if they’re already winning. Fix that and you’ll have plenty of numbers to take us on.

Come give us a challenge, it’s more fun for everyone that way.

Props to all the EBayers who’re putting up a good fight rather than making up excuses. We’ve seen some absolutely fantastic tactics from you guys, from dedicated thief teams taking out heavily escorted yaks to back door mesmer portals while we’re all focussed on a different wall being down. I hope you fix your morale problems because there’s some serious talent on this server.

Our commanders are forged in the chaotic fire of mid table battles, it is why they are strong! (you should get the commander icon even if you’re never going to wear it btw, your leadership has been great!)

I don’t need a commander icon. When the other servers play really well, I just need a freaking cigarette…

P.S. After Ehmry stole our entire Borderland yesterday I needed many many cigarettes.

You see, it wasn’t one or two trebs.
It were 20 or so trebs in range of our mortars or trebs. I personally killed about 10 of them.
And those people are complaining about us night capping? Here’s a screenshot where we have outmanned buff (btw, there’s another treb on the road).

I am actually tired of fighting one on one battles.

Just like to thank Jamaz for a great OP, and hope this thread doesn’t go the way of the last one.

I don’t think we’ve ever had a queue time on more than 1 map at time.
I feel we’ve been out-numbered in EB a vast majority of the time during “oceanic” times.
The only time we have a queue on a map is: 1) first day after a reset, and 2) right after 1 map was zerg-captured, having an influx of our players to the other map that is doing better.

Everyone in the mid tier bracket’s population will grow over time due to high queue times from the top tiers. That is to be expected. How you perform in-game, and react to things determines whether a guesting player will stick around or not. This match we have a few new guilds that seem to like our play-style, and it’s helping us out a bunch. On Maguuma we handle ourselves well vs being out-numbered, but if it appears even we tend to dominate. If we have way more than the other team, (because they left after we completed a map,) we send (or we spontaneously switch over) players to other maps. We have dedicated players who stay behind and build up defenses. Maybe you don’t have this?

Yes we have a lot of dedicated people on Mags that run supply and defend in smaller groups.

A good 5 man group can defence a tower or keep for a long time against most zergs if the keep is upgraded and sieged up.

I have noticed a worrying trend this week though. We seem to have a lot of new players popping up that are mouthy and just plain painful to deal with.

I don’t mean any offence to Ebay, you guys generally do a great job and the fights are always fun when you have the numbers out there, but I suspect we are getting a few of your crappier players transferring over.

I really loathe the whole transfer thing and wish they just put and end to it – just leads to the worst elements moving from server to server and ruining it for everyone – I realise that there are cases of good people transferring for genuine reasons but they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

Hey, looks like ET is getting a stronger group during the middle of the day! Wish I could play at work lol

I’m sure KISS + friends will help Ebay get a better presence. The current score seems to reflect that.

So far the first day at Ebay I have been having a great time! Not only the server is nice, also in the borderlands I have been Pm’ed by Maguuma which are gave me advise on things. I really love the mentality from both servers and hope we can have some fun and great battles!

The folks from FINE loves to portal bomb and I love to take part in those portal bombs. They are well versed in WvW tactics so looks like we got some quality folks coming over.

I don’t think Maguuma got any EU/Oceanic people transfering over so it’s still a weak spot.

Actually, you guys got a rather large influx of NSP this week as they had a mass exodus after a string of losses. We’ve been seeing their guilds playing on your server (specifically FINE).

And considering they are the type of people to make this () and transfer off after they lose…yeah, it’s probably them.

It was never about winning. NSP has never been a high winning server. You think we stayed on NSP for winning? We’re at the bottom and have been there for quite some time. It was a rally for PvE guilds to join WvW, and it failed. I would prefer you not judge my guild, when you have no idea who we are or why we came here.

We’ve only ever moved once and it was because a community didn’t come together. We’re happy here on Maguuma with it’s more WvW based community. We joined a server that was 3 ranks up as well, thats maybe a handful of wins more. It was never about that, we joined here because of Mag’s community. So I would prefer if you didn’t harass my guild. Thanks

Anyone that comes to Mag to win is in for disappointment anyway. We’ve only won once out of however many match ups there’s been. Mag’s about the murder.
