Heya anet,

I really love your wvw and I spend more time doing it than I probably should.

Although I love it, i find myself completely unable to turn the tides of battle lately.
I like being outnumbered and pushing myself. I play on a lower pop server during the night. It’s not uncommon for me to be completely by myself out there at certain times.

I don’t have a problem with the numbers. It’s the resurrect mechanic.
No matter how much gold I pump into a base, how many siege weapons I build, or how many people I down solo. They just stand in it and resurrect each other.
They don’t formulate any strategic plan of their own or go around my defensive setup.

For example :
I was at Redlake keep with one other person. We fully upgraded it, built 3 ballistas, 2 arrow carts, and 2 catapults. About 15 people attacked us. They ignored us, built a couple rams (we quickly destroyed) then proceeded to auto attack the door down for the next 25 minutes. We killed some of them more than 15 times and all of them at least 4 times. They stood in a pile and resurrected each other the entire time.

It’s not going to stop me from playing, but it sure be nice if my strategies had more of a impact.

Sometimes I’m on the fence about resurrection mechanics. I like getting rezzed and all, but sometimes I don’t think it should happen in combat, because it turns the game into a mindless game of attrition.

The only strategy in that situation you described would be to call in reinforcements and hold out till then. Without reinforcements available, any keep will fall.

I think wars of attrition are highly strategic. I’ll give an example.

For several days, we continued to send heavy attacks at the NW tower and Garrison on an enemy Borderlands from the Bay Keep starting position.

This met with mixed results, zergs being even, it came down to who had the biggest guns to push down that north tower. Then we changed it up a bit. We started starving their supply lines, did this for a long time. We’d siege up supply camps, send out YAK destroyers and only small teams to set up a catapult or two to damage the walls of the tower.

Without supplies, the enemy server struggled to build any defensive siege save for what they had. Our small strike teams continually eroded the wall hp and defensive siege, without the enemy server having the capacity to rebuild any of it.

The largest bulk of our forces never had to run all the way back from spawn, because we never engaged in a large scale battle. Instead, the majority of our server was able to keep enemy supplies on lockdown while we upgraded our own.

After one of the skirmish teams reported that the wall had lost quite a bit of HP and most weapons were gone, we were able to blitz through the tower and take the garrison shortly after… without any of the struggles we had days previously.

Starving supplies, as much as starving the enemy of reinforcements brought a lot more tactics then zerg vs zerg. We also got a ton of siege badges as the enemy funneled through various chokes guarded by heavy siege when they did try to get supplies.

Rezzing out of combat would barely effect battles such as you described Scorpio.
It would however, effect mindless head on assaults greatly.

In my scenario : They could have built a treb and cut our supplies. We would have had to leave our defensive structure. They would have likely suffered 0 casualties. The need to develop a plan of attack was unneeded due to combat resurrect+raw numbers.
