Hi all,

IOJ needs you?Yes, yes it does. The story of IOJ is a long one, but here is the short story. We have several top tactic guilds that are dedicated to WvW only. Those guilds spend hours every day only doing it. Where we win in that area, we are suffering from having a server that is under populated in dedication to WvW. Too many only PVE, or just lack of numbers period. We have seen T1 status in the past, and due to free server moves and other things, we have slipped down the charts. With the right coverage we could once again rise up from where we are. We have a community TS where the guilds commanders organize and communicate during raids, we have an alliance in place to work together as well. IOJ has the ability to be a top server, again we lack the numbers.

I call out to those guilds tired of the horrendous queue times, or those looking for a challenge to build up a lower server back to top glory to come be a part of the IOJ server.

We are here fighting daily and look forward to the challenge. We dont back down, we only move forward.

Well, having chicks is a plus, but leaving IOJ is not something we are really considering atm. We have some very skilled guilds here, DRGN, HEL,RUN,AVTR,fist,Jats, ND, QQ and a few others I am sure I am missing. Forgive me for not listing them. We want to build the server up. To do so we need to increase numbers. We are willing to train new comers, help elevate new guilds looking to improve, or embrace guilds that have their own style looking to move to a new home and start fresh. The foundation here is very strong, however skill can only overcome so much. Taking on numbers of 3-1 you can win those battles only so many times, when it becomes an outmanned status in every zone, you have to know when to seek out more numbers. Now is that time.

I would love to see guilds willing to come down or up a few tiers to help build a server to the greatness it deserves.

I am from Sanctum of Rall and I have been fighting you guys nonstop for months, first with Sea of Sorrows and then with Blackgate.

I have to say you guys are some of the most skilled players in any server, period! Small scale fights with you guys could never be more satisfying (No offense to Tarnished Coast, you do a great job sticking together but skill wise Isle of Janthir is simply better). You also have some great guilds, Never Die, Team Legacy and DRGN seem to be the more zergy guilds when we were fighting.

What you only lack is the coverage, particularly in the North American prime time. However, when there is little chance of winning due to insufficient coverage, when wake up everyday and see that waypoint in the keep is gone, less players will partipate in WvW, and that will make WvW less fun.

I deeply respect the guilds and players that hold on to their home servers even during the tough times. But whenever you feel like wanting more activities in WvW, please give Sanctum of Rall a second thought. After fighting so many weeks together, we both know what each other is capable of and what each other’s strengths are. Anytime you want to give SoR a try, you will be welcomed by open arms.

Yeah, you IoJ guys were always awesome. If IoJ doesn’t make the comeback you are hoping, you should move your WvW community to SoR. You guys would be most welcome, and there are plenty of us out there willing to give your guilds gold to buy your upgrades back.

Sure, we respect your choice.
Just if one day you get bored with your current matchup and want a change of pace, don’t forget there is a bunch of SoR folks who value your skills and would love to fight with you side by side.

Now is one of your last chances to come play with top wvw guilds and help work your way up the ranks. Even servers we fought in the past are trying to steal our players away. Now with the new rewards system soon coming into play our more casual wvw players will be coming back and in no time will work our way back up to tier 1 again

As a player on BG, I always enjoyed our matches against IoJ. From our first meeting along with SBI back when you guys were at or close to peak participation, to the final match before you fell to T3, I always enjoyed what you guys brought to the game.

From a WvWer on Blackgate, to the WvWers on IoJ, I wish you the best of luck getting things rolling again. Classy bunch on a classy server.

I can see the tiers roller coaster over the next week, ppl scrambling to use up the transfer while they can for free. I’m actually surprised there is not more recruitment threads atm.

Why because the people on the server actually care about there server? Even top servers like SOS are recruiting you know why people leave the game get bored of wvw ect … If you don’t replace you won’t stay on top for long

I think everyone who plays wvw should choose one server and transfer to that, then we could be the best.

I think you have the word “strength” confused with “coverage”. Getting a bunch of fresh faces on your server doesn’t increase your strength, it increases your coverage. It gives you more fresh zerglings that hop servers on the whimsy of a forum post that probably won’t be in your server voice comms or doing anything useful beside being badges and rally bait.

Moving up tiers also isn’t necessarily a good thing. If you want to be in T1 it means you’d rather have 20v20 zergoffs for a supply camp instead of being able to solo / small group cap camps like you’ll be able to in T4 which you’re about to drop into. Tiers represent different play styles due to the different average populations of the servers in the tier. Therefore, thinking that you’re stronger simply because you’re in a higher tier is pretty ignorant. After bouncing between tiers it seems to me that the general trend is that the average player actually gets worse the higher tier you go.

Your matchup scores indicate that you have good coverage in T3 and will likely be a dominating force in T4, so I doubt you actually need any more numbers. At this point, all more recruits for your server would do is turn the next match from what is probably a good one into another stupid Transfer Blowout. If anything, you should wait a week and see how the scores go in the next matchup before deciding whether you want any fresh faces. It may turn out that T4 is extremely fun and you don’t need to shake things up any.

It’s not that bad dropping down a couple tiers, no disadvantages or anything, and you get new opponents, you only losing to FA by a bit (less than 20k), we had fun with you but it looks like DB wants to come up. Enjoy winning in Tier 4, there is a big gap between T4-T3, so you will have your fun again.

The truth of the matter is, IOJ is being gutted. Hel has left, ND has left, QQ is either leaving or left, from what I understand DRGN is discussing it. Im guessing others will follow suit. You have to make a choice based on what is best for your guilds, its what we did. We discussed our options as we had many offers. We made the choice best for us, to continue to provide the quality of fights we desire, the level of opponents we desire, and the quality of community that we are use to.

IOJ is a fantastic server. We have built a fantastic alliance there with many wonderful people and it was very hard to leave. However with the deadline coming we had to make a choice.

I have to tell you all, we came from IOJ, a server thats taking its last breath. We had offers to go to kaening, BG and others. We have a rep from being formally Totn. sanc etc.

We selected SoR because of the community on this server. They approached us to come over, we didnt approach them. They made a great pitch, we sat here on the server for a day with 2nd accounts watching the communication, the TS servers etc.

We put the vote to our guild, with all the offers we had and the guild vote was 100% to come here. It had nothing to do with placement or score. It was the best choice and best offer to us.

Bandwagon fans per say are those who just make a leap because someone or a team is winning, there is no thought behind it. We made a decision after emails and long talks with SoR.

We have made the best decision for us, sadly not so much for the rest of you

This topic has a guy from IoJ begging people to join his server and talking about how people can help make a difference, and then he turns around the next day and transfers his guild to a different server.

I find it hilarious because he went from being all macho and loyal to just jumping ship at the first chance he could get, and it’s going to be at the expense of the rest of his server. This guy, as commander of a prominent IoJ guild, jumped ship at the same time as something like 13 other guilds from IoJ and basically vacated the server. They literally destroyed Isle of Janthir just one day after acting like they cared. Wherever they go they’re likely to eventually do the same thing, pay transfers or not lol.

They’re disloyal and dishonorable and it sucks for the people that have to deal with the mess they’re leaving in their wake. That’s not funny to me, but this guy? He got some wind in his sails and showed his true colors with very little convincing, it’d seem.

I really honestly and truly do not understand what your point is…

vapor/Isaak is one of our guild leaders in Helioz [Hel] and we are now in SoR.

As for the preceding posts, I would like to say something as a member of the guild. In no way is this the stand of the guild as a whole but merely my personal opinion on the matter.

Helioz (formed by members of Totenreich and Sanctum) is a WvW focused guild and thrives on strategic WvW PvP. That said, the guild had lots of fun working with the other WvW guilds in IoJ.

However, the past few weeks, the guild has suffered greatly due to the majority of the server’s population being PvEers. While to some extent trying to bring in the PvEers into WvW was successful, it simply was not enough to keep the coverage up around the clock. It also did not help that some of the PvEers in the server flat out didn’t care about WvW, majority of the said PvEers citing the lack of rewards in relation to the effort they are asked to put in for WvW as a major factor. That on top of the announcement of the end of the free server transfers, and IoJ being called the unofficial PvE server, the guild had to make a choice.

It was frustrating for us for the most part to have an operation at another BL only to be called back to our home BL because the defenders need help, or at times, there were no defenders at all and we’d have to re-cap a majority of our BL back. And this happens not just once but twice or even thrice during our official raid time.

Don’t get me wrong, IoJ has a great community albeit a PvE one. There is only so much a few guilds can do that can keep IoJ in tier 3, much more to go up the ranks.

One of our guild leaders and former server guilds coordinator of IoJ held a meeting in TS with the majority of NA WvW guild leaders in regards to the guild’s decision to transfer (I was in the channel listening). Although a few of those in the meeting didn’t like, most of the leaders respected our decision.

That said, Helioz has now transferred to SoR, and reiterating what Isaak said, we were approached by SoR and not the other way around. And glad to say, as a WvW guild, we are having a grand time in SoR. The fights we’ve been having are great. And as a WvW guild, that was all that mattered. People talk about server loyalty all the time, but ultimately it all comes down to our enjoyment of the game and for the past few weeks, guild wasn’t enjoying it anymore.

Regarding the original post. Do I think it was timed poorly? Definitely. It could’ve been posted earlier when most of the Janthir Alliance was still intact and fighting. Naysayers will say what they want but that is out of our hands.

No reading comprehension issues here. If it wasn’t glaringly obvious enough, I was just pointing out the similarities between both OP’s enthusiasm and loyalty which happened to meet the same outcome. I’m not allowed to point fingers too? Gee, you seem a little hostile for someone who likes to strut around on the forums laughing at dishonorable and disloyal people. Are you done yet? I’m trying to ask a serious question re: what the official PvE server is. I remember Crystal Desert saying the same thing when we faced them a few weeks ago, so hearing that Isle of Janthir is the official PvE server has me lost.

This is why we need server type designations ArenaNet, it’s just easier for people to find what they need that way.

Nah, I am familiar with him and DB in addition to a few others from TC from previous encounters eg. when we were up against each other and all the following matchup and recruitment threads not involving TC over the past few months. Kinda funny being an “Ebay kinda person” coming from a goonie in Bunzy’s guild.. not sure if compliment.. Thanks for the input though, I’m pretty happy with my server!

You aren’t confused, the Helioz guy is just throwing out generic exuses to try retain respect for his guild. The majority of all servers are PvE players, server caps are around 15,000 players (with several servers full), how many players are in WvW? Yeah, not even close. OP just pulled a Lance Armstrong.

I made the thread in hopes of saving a dying server. It was a lost attempt. We found out that large guilds had already been making plans to move. We had some nice offers from multiple places and we took a guild vote to go. We spoke to the alliance and told them our intentions and offered them a place to go along side with us. Seemingly after this several of them have selected to go to different places, several to FA. While I dont personally consider FA a good choice, it is their choice and I respect that. IOJ was rapidly falling, not because of the work we had invested into, there is a wonderful community there working hard on the wvw front, but really was just shear lack of coverage. With the onslaught of paid xfers coming it was only going to get worse. The server was stuck with a tag of being a PVE server, and to be truthful it largely was. I will greatly miss my time on IOJ. We had many friends there, and a great alliance. I hope one day the server is reborn and can see great prosperity in wvw again. I wish anyone who remains nothing but the best. We did what was best for us to remain in the battles we enjoy and to keep our guild happy. This is a game and if you arent happy playing it, then why do it.
