Sorry if I have to rant a little bit about it

but, yeah, seriously, what happened?

We fought hard, we defended zerg after zerg for the past 72 hours, and was able to keep up a good fight.

I was for once kinda happy to see how Kaineng has been holding, but now?

Within 24 hours, we suddenly lost, like badly.

This is like a de javu - we win during weekend, and just lose horribly bad during weekdays, and it has appear that way since two weeks ago.

Was it because of the weekend?

I honestly don’t think so

As like all of the players, I’m sure we are all equally distributed.

People have school, people have work, people have lives.

The reason about "we have a life" ... really isn’t going to cut it.

Was it because "Kaineng has less players than DR and FC"?

I HONESTLY I don’t believe that as well, as we were able to handle zerg after zerg, at weekend, where technically speaking, is the time where MOST of the players are online.

As someone was saying proudly, that Kaineng is united, which I believe so. Especially when I saw the fighting spirit during the weekends, it moved me alot, especially after we have returned from the shadow for the past two week.

So, really, what is the problem here?

The enemy has better tactic? I don’t agree on that as well.

Ferg - bombarding with treb on the north wall, which has been countered countless times
DR - mass zerging from the south - counter with siege at choke point + keep knocking down Klovan + Wildcreek from SM is enough to keep them busy 24/7

Golem rush? still counterable, we did alot of counter golems during the weekend as well.

I’m personally frustrated about this, and this is kinda the reason why I’ve decided to vanish into the shadow for about two weeks.

Total disappointment.

I loved Kaineng as much as all of you do, but seeing this, is rather demoralizing, and this root of problem need to be identified and resolved asap if we were to hope to win again.

for one, e trebs in sm disappeared after kaineng occupied almost all of eb. when dr started coming into eb in doves 20hours ago, its about e same time as our pop decreases. coincident? tts y they can cap everything without much resistance.

as for why our pop seems low in e weekdays, really dun know. seems to have enough for only 1.5 maps.

Its just a population problem Chaster.

Stonemist on most tiers flips every5mins. We held it for… 3 days? Thats with both servers banging on it repeatedly nonstop the whole time.

DR does have alot more manpower in WvW than either Fergs or Kaineng.

It was odd that during the weekend thier population went down to where it made the fights EVEN where one side didnt completely outnumber the other.

On top of that, it might be that thier leadership doesnt play weekends much either…. whereas we in Kaineng do play weekends but less during the week.

Almost every server in the game is on these forums recruiting guilds to com help them during thier off-times… every server has offtimes where they get thier stuff taken due to low population.

DR’s offtimes are weekends and primetime. Kain’s is daytime afternoons and nightcapping unless SoS is slowing them down in thier time bracket.

Dont let losing Stonemist get ya down man, nor let DR gaining on us either get you down. You and your guild are vital to Kaineng’s ability to bring a fight in each matchup.

Chaster,

I know you probably dont care about a DR opinion but I can tell you what we saw from our side.

Starting at reset Friday Kain and Ferg both had huge numbers. You guys had as many or more in WvW as DR.

We actually a few times had the outmanned buff in our own BL.

Then somewhere around 1pm est on Sunday you guys disappeared. I mean it was weird. It was obvious you guys lost about half of your force.

I have no idea what happened at SM, I caught wife aggro and had to put up the Christmas tree…sigh.

Thanks for the fights this weekend (and kicking our kittens) it was a blast.

Let’s see here…

1pm est on Sunday … that’d be 1am Monday.

Yep. Most of us has gone to sleep = instant big drop in defensive/offensive force

But the problem is …

NO ONE IS COVERING DURING THAT TIME PERIOD

I’ve been sacrificing myself to stay up as late as 3 am (as of this post), which is 3pm EST. I don’t really think that this time (also noon for pacific), is a bad time for people to start taking over.

See the problem here? if not, here’s a hint.

Why it isn’t happening?

Sounds like a time zone coverage issue. Outside of stacked T1 servers this is quite a common issue. Also general burnout and a shrinking PvP community are not helping in general.

We’ve noticed the same Chaster. It truly is disheartening to see such promise at the onset, only to have the continuity of it become problematic. I myself was wondering what had changed over the course of the past few days leading to us actually taking the lead.
On the one hand, I feel like DR is never, ever in full force at the get-go. They usually work their way up over the course of the second day. That appears to have not happened this week.
On the other, we finally have some semblance of organization. WAR, iSpy, SoS and krew working in EB allowing for KAIN, KR, Thor and our ilk to focus on KBL. Not having to diversify guild interests across 2-3 maps concurrently, as we in KAIN had become accustomed to, really makes it much easier to act with more precision and sustainability. I just hope that DR doesn’t play anything unexpected this week. Just know that we are keeping, to some semblance, a 24h force at home.

I saw what happened actually…. It was early morning last night, and SoS came on in full force, 30+ easily. 2 of us in my guild were harassing em for fun, and there were no Fergs on, so not much else to do, lol.
Then while we were harassing…. 20+ Devona showed up and hit em from the other side while they were on a tower. The SoS zerg got wiped once, and never came back, to any map. Those 20+ Devona took everything undefended last night.

Chaster,

Perhaps take a “break” and do something different instead of trying to win the points game. Unless you can guarantee 24/7 coverage, these gaps in play-time will always be something out of your control. Those of us who have been on Kaineng from day 1 have seen many players and guilds come and go: those who stay are the ones who can get beyond the numbers game. Your primary goal should be having fun and cracking open some Sun Tzu to self analyze the technical aspects of your apparent frustrations.

Take your boys and develop your Zerg vs Zerg skills – I know you have a lot of PvE players in your group and there is always room for improvement when it comes to fighting. Look at the Envy guys from Ferg or NoQQ from Kain: they do more with a few players than just about anyone else out there. They have fun and don’t care if they are outnumbered or are winning the scoreboard race.

Maybe you can start mentoring another player from your crew to help do some leading and take some stress off of you. One tactic we have found works well is to load up a 5 or 10 man group with your most aggressive players and have them run interference. Players that have no interest in leading a large zerg (this is NOT a fun task most of the time) may jump at the opportunity to flex a bit of their creativity and develop smaller unit tactics as well as zerg busting.

Take a break, do whatever you need to, and get back having fun soon.

Not to take a stick .. but.. EB commander… wow.. Toot toot.. your horn sounds like a bull farting. If you continue to take credit for things in a public forum you are going to sound more like a commander full of arrogance vice skill.

Just to fill in the blanks, Kain/Ferg he is the one who lead the Golem zerg into SM over the weekend when a door was already open.

You do some good things Morning and I have no squabbles with AoD, but sometimes you need not take elephants over mountains.

On a note to the original poster. Keep strong, don’t cut and run just because weekday coverage is low. DR was in the same boat for about a month after our bigger guilds left. We have had some come in and other DR loyals have stepped it up.

It is a team effort any way you look at it.. Put up agreat fight this weekend.. and it will continue to be a tug of war no matter the numbers etc.

I’d say we have more NFL fans or church people that were absent during the earlier part of Sunday which resulted in us losing SM. Friday/Saturday was fairly even with even very short queues in EB and Kain BL at the same time. My speculation is that we have more casual players on the server that hop out on weekends, then they stop during the weekdays due to whatever reason it may be. You’ll then see the same guilds out there during the nights of the week trying to do whatever they can during our Prime-time 7pm-12am EST followed up with SoS at 6am-12pm EST or around there.

We have 2 big 6 hour gaps during weekdays, so until we get more people I would suggest playing for pure fun instead of points. I burned myself out 2 weeks ago playing 6-8 hours a night for 4 nights straight and ended up still losing to DR’s day/night capping. There’s only so much you can do point wise when the other server has better 24/7 coverage which is why I only try and play 3-5 hours attempting to have as much fun as I can out during US prime-time.

We’ll be playing Eredon’s Terrace in 2 weeks not because DR’s rating is going up enough, but because ET’s rating will drop that much. Keep your chin up and have fun everyone.

Meh, guess the world guild leader conference, and the lead during the weekend, was really sprung me high in hope I guess. And seeing how DR’s one-night-cathcing-up-300k points slams myself really hard on the ground.

I guess its just work/school/sleep issues on weekdays. And the fact that many people go all out during the weekends to somewhat boost the score a bit.

I represented KR on Friday night, it was Saturday afternoon for me. But many of their guys stayed up late till 3-4am where they lived.

Our WvW population isnt that big. On weekdays it mostly goes like this. A bit outnumbered during US prime time. Could barely hold out Devonas. Usually Devonas get 100 pt lead during this period. During the transition between US and Asia primetime. (Primetime in my definition is 7-12pm of a place) Theres a pretty big gap to fill in our population. Mostly you dont get more than 10 people defending or attacking and you lose a lot of points. In Asia primetime, our numbers are actually still quite low and SoS guild is the only thing which salvages this timeslot. With them, we can take most of EB and get a surge in points. But without them, Devonas get a lead also. And i know these numbers from experience since i dont work on all weekdays.

Id say not to get discourages Chastor. SoS is VERY important to fill Asia primetime timeslot.

But of course theres the fair weather players who dont come out unless theres a huge zerg train capping objectives so that they can get easy xp and karma. Cant help with that though.

Chaster – I’ll give my 2 cents, for what its worth.

I think Japan is maybe +1hr ahead of Taiwan, so I live in a similar time zone to SoS. I noticed exactly the same phenomenon as you from the the end of the weekend, and us losing SM.

I don’t mind mentioning two glaring issues (I think DR and FC will be aware of these, so they are hardly top secret strategy) with Kaineng’s WvW game atm:

1) There is a leadership vacuum in your absence. Nowhere is this more obvious than in EB. Other commanders, when you are not on, do not appear to like stepping into your place and bossing people around (I am not trying to flatter you here dude, that is just the truth).

2) We have almost no presence in enemy BL. Something that DR are really good at is not only having teams in EB/defending their own BL, but also getting out into KBL and FCBL and flipping big objectives. On Saturday night our time, through pretty much luck, Xiir commanded a WAR+ zerg in DBL that went pretty well, it just grew naturally from a small group flipping camps to us flipping Dreaming Bay etc. That was really great, but it was completely organic – therwe seem to lack a strategy or appetite to further this. I think it is a fact that Kaineng lacks the numbers to defend its BL against the DR-grudge-zerg and hold SM in EB, AND get out in enemy BLs.

In relation to 2) above, I notice there is a lot of hesitation in Kaineng to attack FCBL, even though it is likely to be significantly easier than DRBL to flip (sorry FC readers). Whilst it has the smack of a bully picking on the weak, I think some extension into FCBL is going to be necessary to get back to the top of our tier.

The reason is simple. The enemy of my enemy is an ally of our own. FC didn’t like DR as much, as they are the major ones that are invading into their BL. So dispite the fact that, yes, FC is a much easier target, making their attention on to us is not really a great idea.

This being said, yeah, sorry to you Chris, as I wasn’t grasping the full picture, you know what I’m talking about.
