While i don’t care so much about new aka “more stole ideas from another game” stuff (yes they stole WvW idea from DAoC) i do care about the tons of bugs and wrong stuff related to WvW to be addressed by the people who are responsible for them since those guys/girls don’t even show up on forums at all (how about you man up and face your demons finally?)
Even showing up once in a while to drop few lines on this forums and answer some questions is something really.I dare to say that PvE and sPvP gets a lot more love on forums and other media channels than WvW ever.

It means they are giving a significant amount of love to WvW, which is only a fragment of the total population, that is a good thing. It doesn’t say they won’t make any smaller changes or balance changes/fixes between now and then.
Perhaps you should be more constructive and less ragey?

Given that the December event is in the works and tying up a large chunk of the team… and then you have Christmas/New Years holidays… February sounds like a good plan if there’s a significant update to be done to WvW.
Give it time to be tested and tweaked before being released. I’d rather have a solid update come out February 15th than something cobbled together over the holidays when everyone is busy with other things and coming out January 1st.

‘stole’ the idea? Many Daoc people like to see WvW the way it is because they have good memories of Daoc, February isnt that far removed, just a few months and WvW is still adjusting itself to match up changed. I think its good they dont make hasty decisions or add-ons in WvW, an area that is very easy to unbalance.
Best let WvW settle a bit, THEN introduce new content. I dont agree with your post about either the stealing or the fact that there wont be any new WvW stuff till February. Considering Guildwars 2 is free to play as was Guild Wars 1 Im happy to see that they release any updates at all, in fact, Anet usually delivers very good upgrades to their game.
But like you, I would like to see new things in WvW and am eager to learn what they might add. Just be patient a bit and dont rip on Anet for using good ideas from other games.

Looking at their current track record on big additions they will probably introduce instanced wvwvw that makes the current wvwvw zones a total ghost land then a month later make a post says “oops, that was a mistake LOL won’t happen again” then do nothing about it.

This. The people/person in charge of the Gem store has done a terrible job. Random forum goers have provided a wealth of ideas that completely outclass the money making potential that the current gem store has.

Fractals are poopy because they are useless for me as I don’t do dungeons and I play GW2 for WvW. Infusions mean nothing to me. Therefore, I don’t care how much work went into them. I can only hope they put 2x the amount of work into WvW because it is a massive part of the game and they, supposedly, love it soooo very much.

Yeah I agree, with free transfers the server populations will continue to shift so it wont settle. With free to play games I mean you dont have to pay monthly subs.
I’m perfectly ok with it. Maybe if they take the time between now, and February to work on it, it won’t be full of bugs, and potential exploits.
While they’re at it, they should really encourage people to be in world vs world;
— like enhanced expeirence rewards for participating in a defense by giving the experience each time the timer ticks down, and the attackers havn’t taken it over.
—item, and/or crafting supplies per keep/tower take.

Is it weird, one of my biggest complaints on the game is the seemingly poor monetization?
Where ARE the vanity items? Loadouts, etc.
Minipets do not make my character look cooler.

Fractal in general is fantastic.
However the leveling system for it is a giant mistake.
Have fun trying to get a level 1-5 party, 3 days after reset. Completely opposite of the downleveling to enjoy the game with your friends design of the entirety of the rest of the game.
If I’m level 10 in fractals, my level 2 friend should be able to join my level 10 fractal. He will probably get his butt kicked, and hurt the party overall, but that is the nature of the beast. if we can finish it with that underprepared person, guess what, we deserve to finish it.
They are busy making holiday events, i don’t blame them, because i honestly love wvw, but i can’t do it all the time, so when new pve events come i go enjoy it.
LOL at the “stole” comment, anyone who played DaOC has been crying for years for someone to bring something similar back. The studio head openly admits the influence and what they were aiming to do with WvWvW.
In reality, WvWvW doesn’t need much anyway. First and foremost it needs a method to achieve ascended gear and removing kitten jumping puzzles (make the siege drop thank you very much Anet) but if people are going to suggest stupid things (like flying mounts for kittens sake) then I for one can wait a lot longer than February.

It’s not so bad. Obviously they’ll be doing a Winter event, than take some time for the holidays. Likely start back to making new content in January, so it will come in February.
I’m just glad they’re working on it.

People interested in WvW is actually a large number, but unless there is a focus to keep it interesting, they will never capture that audience to it’s full potential.

No i predict that they great feb update will just be 5 more jumping puzzles in all 4 wvw pvp zones. With more loot than playing wvw for a few hours will give.

A couple tower/keeps that are jumping puzzles themselves. I would honestly be willing to look past the Ascended/gear treadmill thing for a bit for something this awesome to be implemented.
Other ideas that have floated around the forum have been that there could be a DAoC style giant PvE dungeon that one server has access to based on some predetermined requirements. When the server loses the PvP objectives that give them control of the dungeon, the dungeoneering players are not kicked or anything, but they no longer have access to re-enter the dungeon, but the enemy server will… leading to all kinds of PvP inside what otherwise would be a PvE dungeon.
That would be just as awesome as WvW jumping puzzles giving the benefits of towers/keeps.
Give them more time, this is one time only paid game not a monthly. They will have less resource than those big MMORPG. Beside, they’re going to invent something that give them cash for their upkeep anyway so look forward for more shiny stuff!
However to treat WvW like a small part is wrong approach. Im sure WvW population aint that small. Not everybody PvE or sPvP you know?
This game we pve to 80, look in google for awesome model shirts, get some badge grinds for it, and done, rinse repeat if u want more awesome look but if u dont, i think they will stop PvE and start look for the next end game which is WvW and sPvP. If u dont have private team for sPvP then WvW is the end game goal. Dont treat it lightly! Fix it! Improve it!
It is unwise to have your hope up in anticipation of Feb WvW update. Going by past records, it is likely to be more a disappointment than a pleasant surprise.
I hope Anet has learnt from Sony Online on how to make a successful WvWvW implementation. Sony Online’s Planetside 2 is probably a wakeup call to Anet on the value and positioning of WvWvW in the game end-play. Planetside 2 revenue model could also be something Anet can COPY to monetarize its WvWvW model. Copy if you must if you are clueless on how to make WvWvW works. I don’t give a kitten whether you copy as long as if it benefits WvWvW gw2 players.

Any touchup before Feb is probably be some bugs fixed or skill rebalancing, I reckon.

Same reason some people buy a hamburger and ask them to hold the mayo or lettuce or w/e. You still pay the same price, but some things you just don’t want.

You’re angry because there isn’t change for the sake of change. There are some areas of WvW that could use improvements, but it’s not broken and it’s not like PvE.
WvW is almost sandbox; the content is player driven. I don’t understand what you want. WvW doesn’t really need an expansion, WvW is WvW. The essence of WvW is going out there, fighting other servers, and taking and defending locations. That is not broken and doesn’t need improvement.

You are coming from the perspective that there is only one game that player can play. The truth is, it is not.
Players who want to pve will play in the best pve game. Players who want to pvp will play in the best pvp game. That is why you tend to see players engaging in only one type of game play within a single game. That does not mean they don’t pve or pvp entirely. It is just in different games.
Game developer who don’t appreciate this fact and focus on their core competency but spread themselves thin trying to be best in EVERYTHING is just asking for trouble.

i do 90% wvw cause thats what i enjoy more. i do pve when i’m bored but i don’t have enough time to get all the cool pve stuff after i get my wvw fix
I think people just assume that human (key word) designers, programmers, artists, producers, and testers have the time and resources to work on new content for everything ever at the same time, all the time.

WvW is what I play this game for. February is barely 3 months away. I can wait, especially considering I spent $50 on a game that I never have to spend another real dime on again in exchange for years and years of quality content.

This is very bad idea and i HOPE for god sake they don’t make it.
Aion (Another game related to NCSOFT) had this system where dungeons was placed inside Fortresses and to be able to actually gain access you needed to hold the Fortress.
It was 2 sided Fraction war and the area called “The Abyss” full of Fortresses placed on different levels – Lower,Upper and Core Abyss. (like in GW2 – Eternal,X Borders,Y Borders and Z Borders)
So i was in a server that never had chance to take the biggest Fortress in game “Divine Fortress” for 3 YEARS.
This way the whole content was denied from us for 3 years.We was the underdogs and the weaker fraction of this server since they ruined the balance with player transfers and happily the biggest and strongest playerbase moved to other fraction knowing they wont need to care for anything and just stomp us outnumbering us 1/1000 all the time and enjoy the game while ruining ours which led to massive quit on out side and eventually enemy players quit as well since the server was empty.

I actually agree with axle here, how many wvw players buy gems from the gem store? Yes gw2 had a massive amount of game sales but they need income to keep gw2 free, and i would rather have them make new pve events all the time instead of subscription fees. I’m sure can already tell i’m broke/cheap, or both.

I don’t really know what the issue is with this, anet is doing a great job i feel, I don’t know how much changes anet can put into wvw every month, yes they need fixes here and there but the game isnt broken. I’m sure about even 70% of the people who player wvw all the time still stop to pve the new events they put out, aka halloween, fractals. There are so few that actually never even stepped into either i can’t imagine it being more than 10% of the player base.
The halloween event was extremely well done, when you take out the extreme lagfest in LA and some bugs here and there in their mini games/puzzle it was actually a huge success. Most people hate the MK clock tower jp, but i honestly loved the challenge, it took me about 2 hours to finally complete it when it came out, but man was it satisfying. My satisfaction with this JP was the complete opposite of beating Arah SM dungeon for the first time. So when the fractal jp came out i was disappointed at the lack of difficulty, yes it was still hard but it took me only 6 attempts i believe to get it. But i do understand it was extremely challenging for some players, so they need some love in that aspect as well considering if they want the halloween items.

I really hope this is a joke as WvW forums are by far the most whiny part of the GW forums. They announce major updates in February and everyone is kittening about it being on february and not earlier, but at the same time kittening on how the update will be bad.
No wonder allot of players don’t go to WvW after reading these forums.

Don’t get me wrong im a WvW focused player in a WvW guild but because we PVPers dont use the gems store or for a better word can’t for any real benefit were free loaders who don’t contribute financially.
Is it right no but you only have to see the system values PVE we cannot compete with the rewards offered by PVE content and WvW apparently is just a place to spend all the currency you gain from your daily PVE farming. Until they improve the reward gained from WvW those of us that focus on that play style are forced to run around Orr for a few hrs each day to prep ourselves for battle and for many that want to just pvp that just isn’t always possible or acceptable.
