Proposal: Duel & Attack
DUEL:
Hanging around in a corner of a city, chatting and dueling is something I really miss In GW2.
/duel <player>
if the other agrees then you have 2(-5) min time to fight each other. Duel ends after this period or with the downstate (or dead) of one of the players. To avoid being stressed by such requests an auto-deny option can be turned on. (And all blocked players are auto-denied as well.)That’s not covered by sPvP because sPvP is neither your choice of the opponent nor does it happen with PvE/WvW-clothes nor in the lvl you and opponent are currently.
It is not covered by WvW because WvW is not a fair duel nor can you talk with your opponent.Mostly it’s fun, but it’s also a possibility to test and talk about gears and skills.
It should not result in repair costs.ATTACK:
In WvW I miss a possibility to attack people from my own server.
If I am really upset about someone (e.g. the one that builds rams inside StoneMist from the supplies be worked hard for with Dolly-Escorts) from my server, I wana be able to attack him. This is in WvW-area only and this cost the declaring player money, e.g. 5 silver (~3 times the repair-costs), but it cannot be refused by the attacked player. It goes 5min or till dead as well. The dying player (being it attacker or attacked) has repair costs as usual.
As soon as the attack is declared you are “in fight”, i.e. no WP-teleposts and ALT-F4 gives repair costs, till the attack is resolved or timed out as a draw.GROUP-ATTACKS (could work cost free for group duels in cities as well):
If the attacker is in a party, every party-member is asked to join (and pay 5 silver) the attack. If the attacked player is in a party every party member is asked to support the attacked player. This has a time like instance join.
It can be extended to commanders as well: If one commander declares an attack on another commander all squad-members of both sides are asked to join in, where all that join the attackers-side pay the fee.What do you think?

Why should PvP in WvW-area be restricted to anonymous people from other servers?
If you enter WvW you risk being attacked by people.
And if you manage to make a lot people from your server upset about you. You should be attacked by them.
Of course this must not be free. It must cost the attacker more than the attacked.
Most MMOs offer such PvP-enabled servers. Some I’ve played offer “Assasin-Masks” which make you an enemy of everyone on every server/Map.

WvW is Server vs Server PvP, if Attack is implemented then people will probably be attacking eachother more than the other servers.
They can attack other server for free, whereas they have to pay to atack their server.
The reason for this proposal is: Sociological studies (e.g. look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_dilemma) proved that such a thing (Give altruistic people a way to punish egoistic people) is a essential ingredient for group-efforts (the servers WvW-Team) reach optimal results (maximum Score in WvW).

Sooo… i can transfer with group of troublemakers to other server, openly sabotage they WvW by killing commanders, yak escorters, scouts, siege operators (trebs, AC, ballystas, etc.), tower defense crews… Great idea!

If you spend enough money and server transfers remain open, yes, this can be another tactic. But you can easily make such a tactic inefficient by setting a maximum no of attacks a single player is allowed to declare per day.
And I proposed: attacking a commander allows the whole squad to fight you back for free, so you need a quite large group for that.
And yes, I think the possibility to fight your group of troublemakers is better than whats currently possible. Your “group of troublemakers” can:
- just enter WvW to block slots at main-time (if you like your server to win and like to camp in the JP, switch to the opponent and camp there during main-time),
- build useless rams from urgently needed supplies,
- start improvement during a siege to avoid wall/door repairs
- start improvement in a bad order, e.g. merchants before walls,
- being an not attackable scout/spy,
- claim a stronghold to avoid a claim that provides bufs,
- destroy golems deposited in save zone, e.g. by jumping down a wall/cliff.
- …
all the nice things currently possible to troublemakers. And the only thing you can currently do is watch and cry and maybe (if you manage to get a prove of sabotage) report to ANet.

That would be completally …well… plain stupid. Give a thief ability to disguise enemy player then, which wouldbe way more related to actual gameplay not server hoping. But that would just make ppl qq even more.

One guild comes to mind with regards to killing your own teammates. I won’t name them, but I can picture that little Asura setting off the traps in EB JP just to kill the lowbies from our own server trying to get to the top. Sadly, I did laugh a couple times.

Duels would help immensely with perfecting WvW builds between guild mates. I approve.
Attack is too much of a troll magnet. Similar reasons exist for those that wish to destroy existing siege to make way for more siege. If you want to make this applicable, the attack fee would have to be something unreasonable like 20g per person, and that 20g goes into a fund for the server for WvW purposes only. I just don’t see this happening.

Dual, yes, yes, yes. Ideally a location in the hearts of the mists, and/or special “dualing arena’s” in each BL.
Additionally I’d love the ability to set up cross server dual’s (with spectator mode) in the mists, or a new map where there is a “ticket” purchased that allows you to invite a player from another server to meet you in this area for a dual. For a higher costs 5vs5, 10vs10 and 15vs15 guilds could invite other guilds to dual. No points, no amour repair costs. But these must have some sort of spectator mode.
