Question regarding "full" wvw maps
Bump ’cause this surely deserve at least investigations from Anet.
This could explain why maps are full, with huge queues and when you finally get into WvW, there’s almost noone there.
Did you also post in Bug section of this forum?
Actually now that you mention it this happens in our guild all the time. Though they have logged out their blue dot is still in our wvw map. I wonder if their not registering as logged out of wvw properly? It might answer the question of queue times.
Interesting, cause of all the d/c people are having lately they would get kicked to the character select screen while maybe still be counted as being in the wvw map.
Oh and all the people that get kicked for inactivity also go straight to the character select from the wvw map.

I guess its possible that there is something messed up going on with the queues. It is odd for a map to have a queue and not be able to gather a decent sized force even within the portal keep when it is being spawn camped.
It would also explain why you don’t see this problem on Friday reset, but it gets worse and worse as the week goes on.
Exactly the same “bug” in my guild. Indeed i think that i will be a good idea to report it in bug section …

The dev post states that the numbers look fine. This thread is explaining a possible reason that said number shown may be bugged and incorrectly showing more people on their end when people on the ground in game are noticing clear discrepancies.

how is that post related with this bug??
I m in JQ and i too have seen party members goes off-line but still shows a blue dot in some random area in wvw map.
also, queue time is getting ridiculous now. on tuesday night i queued 2 hours for EB.
i queued for more than an hour last night (not even server prime time), then i found out that there is like total of 30 people in there, cuz all commanders were yelling in map chat to get people to defend SMC and less than 20 showed up. few afker in other towers, but the number still didnt add up to a amont so big for an hour queue.
after we lost SMC i switched toon try to donate some siege weapon to the commander, guess what! I SAT IN ANOTHER HOUR OF QUEUE!!! i know that there were less 30 people in EB so where did this queue came from??

clearly something is going on here, anet your kitten together, you’re not looking hard enough
Same bug with my guildmate yesterday on VS, which logged out from 3W about 3 or 4 hours before I asked him.
Last night my son and I were in WvW in EB as a two man party. He logged out of the game entirely to go to bed ( I know for a fact that he did) but his dot still showed on the map where he had been when he quit. His dot went away when I left our party, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the game does not properly recognize when a player simply logs out of the game instead of leaving WvW first. Maybe it only happens when a player is in a party or maybe it happens all the time, but it’s pretty certain that something is messed up with how ANet manages player queues in WvW.

I know the blue dot has always remained. Partied with friends, and when one leaves, it always shows the dot where they logged out while they are still in party. But, if that is now affecting (or maybe always has) the number of people the game thinks are still in a borderland, that would be HUGE. I hope A-net is reading this one.

Iv experienced this very issue also iv had guild members log whilst in WvW and confused the kitten out of me when their blue icons have remained on the map.
This needs to be looked at. Habib any response from Anet?

If this indeed turns out to be the problem, the smart money says that the problem will just fade away after a “maintenance patch” with no acknowledgement from ANet. I mean, how could they not have caught this on their own if they were looking at the issue at all? Months of complaints and they didn’t even bother to check the list of players showing on the map versus the list of players logged in? How embarrassing that would be.

it’s getting to the point of 30-60min queues and then you get to the map and there’s barely anyone there, nowhere near the 166 people a map can supposedly hold :-S
Ok, payed migrations was something that needed to come and you did an Ok job at it. (Medium populated servers 500gems although they have queues 24/7….)
But kitten stop messing with the capacity of the BL, it only makes the queues worst. Fix the f. game engine. Stop attempting kittenty “ghost” shadows and just use the name of the players in stead. It will take 0 to none effort in terms of graphics and it will still make the WvW enjoyable, kittenty, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Doesn’t anyone see the connection?
They “improved” WvW culling and performance. Basically, what they actually did is probably reduce the number of players allowed on each map

This post has nothing to do with the bug discussed here…
Btw any chance that Anet will look at this?
I really hope they could say something on this issue which has been noted on many server. They probably need time to investigate, however it would be comforting to know they try to do something about it.
Some people already think it’s only a marketing strategy to make money on transfers to lower population servers involved in WvW by increasing their queues…
Correctly expiring players from a game (or map in this case) is an area where you can easily have bugs. My theory is that with the current matchup TC is in, we are switching maps a lot more often (we get wiped off one map in a short time period everyone goes to another). This is causing a scenario that wasn’t anticipated or tested well enough.
The dev post was more of a general here is how it’s supposed to work. I believe there is a bug, given the evidence I have personally seen.
at this point whether there’s a bug or not is immaterial. There’s clearly a big dissatisfaction over the act of queuing. The queue itself is not necessarily the problem but lack of knowledge about our place in it. In fact if we had more knowledge we’d be in a better position to quantify a possible bug.
Bug? I think, this is a decision, not a bug.
New transfers, with money + Population decline on the map + Increase queues + Tired people in the queues + Population will change for little server, because queues =

I’ve noticed the same thing so it sounds logical that this is an explanation for map, pops being less than what they should be. These dynamic adjustments are a recipe for disaster because anets programming simply isn’t that good. Multiple game systems that rely on some sort of dynamic adjustment are clearly bugged in some fashion, not just WvW maps.

Keep bumping this thread guys, hopefully someone from Anet sees it. People want to play Guild Wars 2 not Que Wars 2

Somethings wrong with the queue time im sure. There is NO WAY we’re going to have queue on ALL BORDERLAND today right now. I mean yea if it’s reset but this is already sunday, from the past record for weeks, that is not possible… And it’s not a simple 5min queue seems to be more than that for long long time =-=‘’’ We usually have queue only 2 map, now is like 4map WTF.
A bug on queue time for sure, Anet gotta admit this. Do their staff play WvW at all???

Been seeing this as well on Jade Quarry, we will have a queue on map yet only really be able to find around 40 people. Where the hell are the only 50 or so? Why is there a 30min-1hour Queue yet so few people on the map. I have looked everywhere and I can’t find any large number of PvE players roaming around or people in the Jumping Puzzle. It just doesn’t add up, there must be something wrong with the system.
Happens all the time at my end, when people dc or log out in WvW when I’m grouped with them. Dot stays.
Need an official statement whether those zombie dots represent players still being counted towards the map limit, although they are in fact logged out/on character selection screen.
