I am now totally hooked on my Asura! I know I’m not the only one so I wanted to see why everyone else likes them.
My main reasons are:
1. When I dodge she looks like Yoda jumping around
2. The unnecessarily large vocabulary aka “structural integrity has been compromised”
3. So cute and sarcastic

*All of the above
*My Asura Ranger’s pets are all bigger than him so it looks like I should be riding them (especially my Moa)
*The way their ears perk up when you go into combat mode

I like the way they look, the way their architecture and technology looks, and their lore.

Plus humans in GW2 invariably look like plastic dolls, and I’m not that into Charr/Norn/Sylvari aesthetics.

imo, asura armors are “better fitted” than the other races, sadly we’re “hard to see” and only appreciated by our fellow peers, or really short sylvari and humans ><

Asura with a Greatsword/Hammer is hilarious. They look like they can barely hold it up.

Asura Guardian’s using Staff 4 (Empower) is the cutest thing ever. Just plant the pole and start swinging around mid-combat. Don’t mind me, guys!

Asura are tiny, and all things tiny are awesome.

Their animations
They are small.. I like small characters.
They are hilarious. ’’you’re dumb. you’ll die, and you’ll leave a dumb corpse.’’
They are both cute and ugly at the same time.

I love my Asura for the way he seems to bounce around in his animations, from the little jump he does when you stop running, to the way he wobbles on one foot when you side-step, and the adorable windmilling of his arms when you jump. Couple that with his needlessly cerebral voice acting, and you just have one adorable little murder-bunny.

I noticed my warrior channeling Al Pacino when fighting with a greatsword. Every few swings or so, she would yell, “Hooah!”

I have two Asura. One is a cute little bunny girl and the other is a cute little mouse girl.

The one thing I don’t like though is when she gets low on health and yells, “It hurts” I kind of feel like crap.

That’s still better than the male Asura’s “Why won’t anyone… help me?” … when there’s nobody else around. Of COURSE nobody’s gonna help you, you dimwit! :P

I started out launch day creating all my characters, one for each race. During the opening cutscene, I knew that my Asura would be one of the best. (The male asura voice is perfect). Sadly, I have a soul connection with my sylvari, so my asura kind of got left in the dust (I still love the way he looks, and I"ll eventually get T3 armor, but right now I’m focusing on my Sylvari)

Asura are the only race that can pull off “adorabloodthirsty”. I love killer rabbits! Nothing else like ’em.

Really, just look at her! You just wanna hug her. Even though she’ll probably tear your arm off and beat you up with it!

I get a little weak when she say that, especially because of how adorable she is

10 FEET TALL. Also, I absolutely love the jump and stagger animation and their outright “no shame” arrogance. Best race!

There’s something brilliant about those rare times when you rally and the male Asura says words to the effect of:

“Look who’s back – it’s ME, by the way.”

Baaaadassssss.

Male Asura – “And now , to destroy you !”

Because it is the funniest!
Have 2 so far (and more will come). pretty fun to fight using a weapon bigger than you!

btw, we can hide easly on PvP/WvW due small size

and Never Capitulate!

The animation, good lord, the animations. The quick start, quick stop, quick turn, and landing “tumble” animations. Everything with a hammer or greatsword.

The dialog. Like others have mentioned, I’m sad that once I join an Order I get all nice and heroic. But every part of the Asuran storyline was gold until then.

I love how my Asura…
… sniffs the air and glances around when out of combat. Occasionally gives his head a confused scratch as well.
… gives a wide-eyed look of devoted admiration at other characters when they’re standing next to him. Even better when he’s running next to someone taller whose model is selected, because then he’s running and looking sideways and upwards with his dumb grin. He looks like he’s going to end up tripping over a rock since he’s too enamored with the other person to watch his step.
… squeaks when he cheers, grunts when he jumps, and gives a tickled chuckle when he laughs.
… sounded and looked drunk in every personal story cinematic.
… is ridiculously shorter than every non-Asura. I was hiding in a keep with a pair of bookahs and only went to 1/3 their height. The purple dugong guild emblem he sports only makes him look smaller.

I love the asurans. Their humor is great and I love their sarcasm. The animations are awesome. The only thing I want changed with them is how their weapons are shown much lower on their back instead of how the weapons are shown on other races.

I love their curiosity. They will be several of my characters. Right now at least my mesmer and my ranger.

I cannot say that I am a complete fan of the Asura. When I first saw them, I thought they looked similar to the house elves from the Harry Potter movies. That being said, I have grown to appreciate them more and more. For starters, their movement is fantastic! Not only are the animations of jumping and dodging hilarious to watch, but because of their size, they appear to be moving much faster.

Plus I just love the witty banter that Asura have.

I started as Sylvari, tryed charr afterwards. Didn’t feel THIS IS IT. Then i tryed Asura, just because of the lore i read in the wiki. Their sarcasm, their personalitys, i thought “that is like me! i could immerse myself in it”.

The Beginning was “meh” and Rata Sum was “Oh god” but then all pieces fell together. Their voices are perfect. Their animations are perfect. The personal story and the whole humor is golden! That sold it for me.

Your Golem was altered to be an killer-machine.
“Aha.”
And it no more serves sweet vine, just warm beer.
“What?! NO!”

Classic.

The personal story! I loved meeting other Asura like Zojja, dealing with golems, and being considered the brainiest of the races. AH, and the heavy tier 3 cultural set is off the hook! Will have soon :-3

Pretty much every reason mentioned here so far. The story early on, the aesthetics, the animations, the voices…

Zojja is so adorable… And Mr. Sparkles is amazing.

I just love the Asura, how they can be so over-confident and self-centered in an amusing way.

They can also look so serious and threatening, even with their small size :P

I love my Asura because she is cute! I took extra care during character creation to make her into a plush cutie and now I am working on making her as lethal as she can be! Nothing like having a lethal plushie for an avatar!

Dem ears <3 Mine has huge floppy ears, that move around when shes jumps, so cute <3 I love how she’s not some kittenty tramp and how asura are non-sexualized : D just adorable. Yet deadly >:D

1. Hands down the best dodge animation. Diving into a roll is cool.
2. My asura defies gravity when using Pistol Whip.

Love the lore, and even though I have a Charr and Sylvari on the side, the Asura will forever be my favorite. Even though my reaction at Rata Sum’s loading screen being ‘OMG SO MANY DOBBY’S’. XD

The way they dance. Popping! Also, with the current armor she looks like an adorable little pirate. Pirate pimp if hat is visible.

I like the most that the female Asura have the same bossy animations as the male which makes them twice as funny when a girl performs them. The variations of “Hah” exclamations to events of no particular importance are also gold.
I also like that the vision of the race: being smart, a little arrogant, and geeky, makes no exception with the females. Females in games are often just pretty, but mindless princesses coughhumanfemalecough and I really enjoy my female Asura characters being a contrast to that stereotype (but they’re still cute :p).

I was certain to avoid this race based on the previews I had seen before beta. Then one final weekend a friend wanted to try one, and I rolled a little Asuran warrior to play with him. The dodge lured me in… a closer look at the creation made me see how adorable they can look.

The sarcasm is great. The “You’re dumb” comment is by far my favorite to hear. Watching them land after jumping is wonderful. But the one detail that made me literally shout with pure glee, much to the dismay of my guildies in vent, was when I noticed that….

I love when my Asura is riding that broom from the witch town costume set. It’s so cute! Also, Shrieksy is the cutest little raptor.

Wow, kitten your character is hella cute. I almost threw up a rainbow from seeing that level of cuteness. That’s like a cute baby + a cute Puppy combined into one. Sir you have out done yourself.

I’ve been testing asuran guardian to see if Iike it enough to actually play outside of the mists (animations, voice etc) but I have never heard that line on my female asuran. Is it male only or something?

Celestina, it’s a very rare line and as far as I know only females say it.

hmm….I assume it only happens when first entering combat right?

Could it be that it depends on your personality options? I choose charming for my Asura Necro and I’ve never heard it.

1. I’m small.
2. I’m purple.
3. I think I look awesome.

What’s not to love? Excelsior! (that actually get’s annoying though…)

I chose Asura because they reminded me of an entire race of Maxes from Sam N Max Freelance Police. What’s not to love about incredibly lethal, cute little sociopaths who muck about with 10 foot tall killer robots?

From the moment in the tutorial when my freshly created ele went:
“She is rarely wrong. Don’t tell her, I said rarely, by the way.”
And I was like:
“God, that chick has the same screwed up mindset as me.”

Also: EARS!

I absoloutly love playing on my asura because its the only time you get to be a troll and get away with it!!!! XD no i joke but it is really awesome to get into an asura mindset, ok you have golems and all the awesome history for Asura from Guildwars1 and these outstanding technically engineered weapons. but theres nothing like hanging around with a freind whos on their norn telling them that the reason you are so short is because you stopped growing to put all the effort into the brain instead which makes you a far supirior being than them! and of course you get to confuse people who didnt play GW1 by calling people Bookahs! (all in good fun of course)

Bsince i’ve played her I felt to be able to get into character more with my little Roksie than my other characters.
