I think the Sylvari need more customization on creation and armors inside game.

Hair

-Hairstlyes with flowers, flower petal like hair or vine like hair style like the old Caithe used to have.
- Some long hair maybe that goes down to his back for girls.
-Longer hairstyles for guys. So far they only have short ones and a ponytail looking one. -Guys cold use some long hairstyles made of leaves, something that cascades.
-Cactus-based hairstyles

Faces

-More Faces with plant like flowers and leaves
-and one or two more “generic” faces with less plant features, like Pale Tree face.

Armor

-Start with armor plant at lvl 1.
- More Plant armor and weapon at begin for low lvl for ppl can remodel and play.
Add Cutural tier 0 – simple armor for sylvaris can feel like they should be.
- More Plant based armor for all game, there is jut not enough for a whole race made out of plants.
-Craft: leafy armor and weapon from craft…. not only human style

Pets

-More Pets Plants like cat, bird, bug, butterfly, moth and etc.

Body and hair hehe

-Blue skin with gold freckles and blue or gold hair (blue hair with gold flakes)

There have been other plant people in scifi for years now. (not just fantasy) If I might ask they add the skin and hair options similar to that of the race called delvians, that of the well known Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan of the farscape series. (blue skin with gold freckles and blue or gold hair (blue hair with gold flakes) would be fun to play with.. Also I would love an ingame barber.

Sylvari could use one or two more “generic” faces with less plant features.

@Altariel: That old screenshot was from before the sylvari got a rewamp to what they are now. They were changed because they were not enough plant and too much human/elf. Those other 2, while very lovely are not quite…. sylvari… either.

@tigirius: Those others are however not sylvari. Sylvari are not like other plant people. Yes there are similarities, but they are definitely not the same. That said… adding head option with freckles would be cute, could be either part of body pattern or bioglow maybe. Still gotta keep it sylvari. Oh and we DO have the ability to change looks now. Just check the gemstore. Don’t think there are new options in that.

Instead of thinking hair, think plant. Think branches of different trees like willowtree. Think leaves of various kinds like maybe fern. I would actually love me some fern"hair". Although I love my sylvari just the way she is and likely will not change her, and don’t plan on making another sylvari… at least not anytime soon.

Right so: more “hair”, face, body, etc. types yes pls. More options is always good Unless it stops having that sylvari feel.

More plant armor, oh yes pls. a new tier of cultural for all races would be so nice, so it wouldn’t just be sylvari getting attention.

At least one more planty pet? Yes! Yes yes yes. I did try to draw bird and cat plant creature, but was kinda fail. Could try something again But it would be better if Anet did :P

Honestly, I’d half kill for the following:

Ivy or bramble-style hair.
Body thorns [primarily on the limbs, but YMMV]
T1 and 2 weapons that are NOT shared with Asura. :P

Overall, I like the main ideas mentioned by previous posters … why not rock more options?

I want some cactus-based hairstyles. Not just spikes which already exist and which I suppose could be viewed as cactus-like (though I consider them more thorn-like), I mean hair thats looks like pieces of cactus or a whole cactus sitting on the head even. We got branches, leaves, cattails, and even mushrooms (which aren’t even technically plants) so lets get some cacti in there.

If you’ve ever played Tales of Vesperia, think something like those cactus girls. Or something like this, but obviously in the GW2 style and not pokemon.

I love Sylvari, I prefer them being more plant than elves, i only and some love for customization, gear and skills :P

tbh i love if we could customize length of hair. I wanted to have my sylvari hair all the way down to his feet like really make him my own character. need better looking plant amour tbh i love the light t 2 set with the wings i thought that was extremely cool.

I honestly believe we need cultural armor or hairstyles made out of tree bark.

I meant more “clean” human / elvish faces. Right now Sylvari Females have one “normal” looking face that doesn’t have big disney eyes.

You can eliminate some of what you call disney eyes (I disagree to this view but whatever) by further customisation. Just make the eyes smaller with the slides. Sylvari are not humans or elves, there has to be some sort of planty features or it isn’t sylvari.

The main key to the design was developing an obvious anatomy that clearly described the race as plant rather than an offshoot of human. However, because the race tightly relates to the essence of human due to the Pale Tree’s influences from Ronan, the overall form has a human silhouette. But if you look more closely, you’ll see the forms are really quite alien. They are a collection of abstract notions the Pale Tree had about what made up the human, as she really only saw the surface. They are a tree’s interpretation of humans.

In exploring the anatomy, you can see a lot of different details. The forearms, for example, are not a human arm with leaves tacked on top, but rather a shape created by many stem tendons and long leaves coiling around one another to create the structure. The faces of the sylvari are not restricted by the anatomy of the skull as a human would, but are created by layers upon layers of plant materials that press together, forming the illusion of anatomy.

As far as the faces go, this seems to be A-Nets intention. They were going to go with more human/elvis features then intentionally steered away.

I don’t support less planty faces. What makes the Syl so great for me is that they aren’t just generic attractive elves.

Yeh i agree with this! More armor would be cool and i would like to have more faces aswell….. maybe some evil faces would be cool!

Need more racial armor, stuff that’s made to show off body glow or even adopts body glow color like it does skin color.

I’d love to see more planty styles in the game both on Sylvari and animals I was so jealous of the town NPCs until I was able to get some cultural armor. I still wish there were more choices.

You know what else I would really love? The ability to make gloves and boots invisible like you can with headgear and shoulders. I’d love to go around barefoot, and at least see my hands.

Humans who want to look distinctive have Krytan weapons, from level 1 on. Asura who want to look distinctive have Glyphic weapons, from level 1 on. Norn who want to look distinctive have Silverpeak weapons and the Germanic-named weapons, from level 1 on. Charr who want to look distinctive have Steam weapons, from level 1 on. Sylvari get … level 30+ rares that they can buy on the TP for 10 to 30 silver each and use up a stack of Transmutation Stones every 5 levels when they replace them. Frustrating! Verdant weapons should be available at the same levels that Glyphic, Krytan, Silverpeak, and Steam weapons are available.

I remember overhearing a Sylvari NPC comment about trying on some leather clothes once and feeling like they were so heavy and stiff that she couldn’t figure out how anybody fights in them. None of the Sylvari NPCs, at least that I can remember, wear the generic armor. Now, I know that they can make the generic armors look different on characters based on species. Take any of the “sexy female” armors, like Embroidered for example, and put them on an Asura female and you get not just different tailor, you get an entirely different appearance. I feel like not just the racial armors at level 35+, but all of the armors, should be either plant-themed or plant-adorned when worn by a Sylvari. Even if they did it in stages, like all of the shoulder pads one month, and then all of the helmets several months later, then all of the gloves and boots several months after that, it would be an improvement.

Yes- I agree we do need more plant themed armour.

They need sooooooooooo many more hairstyles … And the cultural armors…. well let’s say that they scrapped most of the best ones (like the one in the video for the mesmer´s portal)

+1 for more leafy armor skins, and hairstyles. And one more thing: PLEASE add like a leafy/flower umbrella than we can use together with the town clothes when it’s raining. I love how the game environment looks during the rain.

I have said this before, why have crafting profession in first place when we can’t even craft a sylvari look armor or for that matter a weapon. Take the crafted Exotic armour for instance, all of them have human theme look to them. Where is the sylvari,charr, norn, and Asura Variation. Please give as more leafy armor and weapon variation.

Yeah morrigan i bought cultural tier 1 and 2 for my sylvaris at low lvl to few like one…. my hunter at lvl 10 was already using cultural tier 1, but i can do it because i got one lvl 80. ppl dont have char hight lvl cant make it.

Just made this, sort of thinking it would be a pet of similar size as the hawk, eagle and ravens.

The devs need to see this thread. Not just to improve the Sylvari, but the principle behind it. This game as a whole would benefit from immersing players in the cultures of their characters.

I always thought there shoulda been a short-haired style for males that was made of up a lot of small leaves. I made kitten mouse-drawing to show what I mean. :P

Female Sylvari need more face variety, more bark and lines like male faces have. Also more plant armor that actually shows the glow, which was supposed to be unique feature but doesn’t come across when wearing a lot of plant armor.
I would also love more weapons that suit not only spring themed Sylvari but autumn themed aswell.

Psst I drew this the other day and I figured I’d add my two cents. From left to right: rosy updo, vine dreads, some sort of belldrop head, leafy fauxhawk, and some grassy cattail thing. Personally I’d love more flower-oriented hairdos, like actual head-plant styles: roses, daisies, venus flytraps, something ridiculous etc etc. I don’t think it’d be too outlandish, considering the pale tree has that sort of thing going and we already have a mushroom head. More modern-looking hairstyles would be interesting too, but that might be a bit too far a stretch for sylvaris.

But what I think we really need here is a whole sackful of new planty facial hair yes/yes

I like the Sylavri as they are better than most of the images in this thread.

It would be nice if Sylvari started with some racial armor. It would make sense for them to acquire human armor later in life, as they explored areas outside the Jungle.

I would love some more Sylvari armor and I love the ideas posted here for hair/faces/etc.
I’d also like to see the removal of the ‘skin-colored’-parts on the Sylvari armors.
It can be quite annoying when you try to dye your armor a certain way and the skin-colored part ruins it.

Starting out with plant armor would be nice, and the ability to make plant styled armor and weapons, they can add that in as a recipe you either buy or get from a quest. Also, I don’t know if it was mentioned before but when the Sylvari were announced a lot of people where thinking of branchlers (Antlers that look like branches). They could have some sticking out like horns.
