Yes, this is a problem ALL Sylvari armor. Did you see HoTW Heavy?
Try wielding a Greatsword with T2 Sylvari Heavy pants on.
ANET still hasn’t fixed this bug…

Is it? Well in that case this is more pressing than I thought! We should try and bring this to their attention, maybe enough to get some sort of response.
Yeah, I dont understand why armor skirts and coats are scaled so awfully on Sylvari.
Worst thing is there are ZERO SKIRTLESS/COATLESS OPTIONS!!! ARRRRGRGGGGGGFHHHHH
Plz fix it, ANET!
Sylvari is unplayable in a game about visual-progression.
Alright guys, this is the part where we band together and keep the thread going steady to help get Anet’s attention! If there’s no word after a time, I’ll go ahead and remake this thread somewhere it might get more support.
This has been plaguing us for a long time, yet it keeps getting ignored.

Change thread name to “Sylvari skirts broken.”
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Perhaps it’s time we had a main thread for our skirt problems? Please, let’s keep this thread at the top of the forums until devs notice… Sylvari are unplayable in a game about visual progression!
We also have a problem with the flower backpiece humans do not. Compare screens with the human using the SAME sword and heavy armor-type, and you will realize the Sylvari skeleton as a whole is a mess!
Why make a Sylvari backpiece which clips SPECIFICALLY on Sylvari?
Alright, changed the title, but as Kain said, lets keep this thread alive! Come together my disgruntled Sylvari players! How can we be the most fabulous race on Tyria when there’s this annoying bug crap plaguing us specifically?
Please fix Sylvari skirts so I can finally actually enjoy the way my Thief looks in armor
I have a problem with the clipping on Sylvari cultural armour.
The skirts for light armour clipp through swords and the chest piece for t1 medium clips through the bow- It is very depressing, since Sylvari armour choices are so few to begin with
Keep it coming people! This needs to be addressed, and I doubt we’ll get anything with less than a few pages.
In a game about visual-progression rather than stat-progression, this is as important an issue as any other gamebreaking bug.
Make sure to +1 the posts demanding a fix! It will make this thread a hot topic!
And feel free to post your screenshots as well, to bring attention to this issue how bad it is. I’ll do my part, showing the ONE armor that has to work: Cultural armor!

This has been bothering me on my Sylvari for a long time. I just thought it was ugly. I didn’t know it looked this much different on other races.
If you want attention, this propably isn’t the right forum for it. Try the suggestions forum. In fact, I’ll post a link to this topic there soon and update this post with a link.

Good hustle Daecollo! Everyone make sure to post in this thread and the other, I’ll update the OP with links to both!

I did not know this was an issue..
But now that you mention it..
I actually like the puffed out look, will be really sad if it got fixed per the demands of the majority.. Sigh…

…. Well you can’t please everyone! But for all of us who play Sylvari and prefer not to have hoop skirts, let’s get this fixed.

Well, I am not going to knock down the majority for my petty preferences, but i always found that sylvari males somehow look better then other males, and now that I understand this problem, I understand that I always prefer the way clothes look on sylvari males.
The way coats frames the slender sylvari, the way they flow, and rest, i see it as making the sylvari look elegant and graceful. To me its a hallmark, rather then a bad thing.
Check out this clipping. I was thinking of trying out this setup but I realized Whisper’s skirt is so wide it makes my weapons impale my arms.

They won’t fix it as it only affects males, and if it also affected females they would only fix the female version.
Anet doens’t care about male characters.
(edited by lorazcyk.8927)
I have had non-Sylvari players mistake my male engineer Sylvari for female (usually from behind) because of how coats and the like puff out around his hips and butt. This has happened numerous times, people like to point it out to me because they always seem genuinely surprised when they see the character from the front and realize that he is, in fact, male.
I’m not even going to get into the skirt issues with my warrior and caster class Sylvari (also all male)
By the way, the engineer looks like this, from the back and front. That coat (the Noble Coat) is my favorite on him, but I’ve stopped wearing it because it looks like he’s smuggling pillows under there.

This is actually something that effects every MMO, and a lot of console games as well.
I thought GW2 was going to change that when they talked about armor pre-release but apparently not.

Still not fixed.

Can we please have an ETA for the POOF fix?
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I thought it was intentional. It looks cool on some armors, but on others… I can see why you’d want that fixed!
PLease fix thisd..

Bumping this thread, this bug really needs to be fixed. ANet is whining no one plays thair “original” races, yet they choose to ignore glitches like this which keep players from playing anything else than human.
Seriously, this should’ve been fixed in beta.
I’m not a male but am still born of the Pale Tree.
You have my sympathies and my bumping support.
Wish my HOTW skirt didn’t poof.
Dat butt!

Bump, because this is unacceptable incompetence.
I wanted to make an Drow-like male Sylvari Thief. Finally got a decent looking one and leveled to 5. Then I notice the huge behind the first crafted leather set brought and on top of that the weapons are hanging mid-air. Just look at the pictures posted by MUNMU to see an example.
Also no matter what ears i pick and redesign, they all clip on the Thief Leather starter Hood when he tilt his head. Pretty weird all this hasn’t been fixed in 10 months since it so annoying that I can’t get passed it and I’m probably switching to yet another Human.
Oh hey, it works out for us for once!
Heavy SE pants do not clip with its boots on Sylvari.
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
I think that is because of the weight of the human.
however its kind of funny.

I get clipping issues with weapons, because my skirts poof out so much…
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I’ve noticed this “poofiness” of the armor on Sylvari. I deleted my first Sylvari Mesmer at level 14 because she had a normal body type and the armor was so poofed out, it looked peculiar. The one I have now, I picked the skinniest body available because of the way the armor looks. I have crafted exotic on my Mesmer and I love it except for the way its puffed out over her butt. Her previous armor was even worse for making her look several sizes bigger.
I have seen a lot of armor bugs on my female Sylvari as well. Same poofing problems and the hall of monuments armor causes there to be brown patches on her skin. I always use the smallest body type and many armors completely change that, especially in the hips/butt and chest.
There is some hope of them being fixed eventually though. I used to be unable to use the command pants with the stalwart top because it would cause one dagger to sit between the legs when sheathed. Now the weapons sit normally one the hips, so they did fix that at some point.
My Man stopped playing his sylvari he rolled because of this problem bump for fix please!
