So I run the client, a patch downloads, press log in and it gives me the message saying that since my IP address has changed an email has been sent to authorise login.

Only my IP address hasn’t changed. I use a wired connection, same computer, NOTHING is different from when I played 2 days ago.

I received the email , and it let me log in (though for some reason it listed log in location as covent garden, bit specific, bit off) but I’m still slightly concerned, has anyone else had this?

I am going to have to regularly authenticate the one and only computer I play GW2 on because my IP provides dynamic IP for my house and I don’t intend to pay for a static IP.

An annoyance for sure but I don’t know how it can be avoided.

My homeworld is Blackgate.
I am a GW2 player in New Zealand.
Check me out on the GW2 wiki.

Ah, I was just going to post the info, and you found it. Thanks for updating the thread — I know that helps other players!

You know, I’m enough of a security paranoid I don’t necessarily think that authenticating every time is a bad idea.

I find myself in the same bit of a pickle. I use only my PC from home, i have a router and dynamic IP and have to auth every time all the time. Even more, to log into the game i have to auth on the website, furthermore i have my PC running for 3 days and my IP doesnt change unless i reboot. Still i have to auth after sessions expire. I tried with “remember network” option and it doesnt work. I have the same region and city, obviously.

I’m sure you have but have clicked the box that says remember this ip right under the allow box?

Also in the same boat. Last three days in a row now i’m being prompted to authenticate. Nothing’s changed on my end. Sure…an extra 30 seconds required to log on….but still…..bit of a hassle…..and a brief moment of panic that I might have been hacked…….
