Q:
Hello there,
I have few questions about banning players.
Firstly, there are rumors that some people got banned for sendind gold to each other, becouse they wanted to get “Golden” title. Is that true ? It sounds really dramatic, taking into consideration fact, thakittens team game and i can get banned for helping my friend completing his achievment.
Secondly, i’m wondering if i can get banned for borrowing gold and items from my guildmates. For example, someone borrowed about 150 gold and some t6 materials, becouse he wanted to create his legendarie earlier. BUT he gave everything back after month. He can get ban for this ?
Please tell me thakittens not true. Otherwise, why there is ‘mail’ oprion, and sending gold and items via mail.
Cheers!
Sorry for my previous topic called like this one, i dont know what happend but everything what wrote disappeared. Weird

What you’ve described is not disallowed activity. The number of false positives is very low, but if you were somehow mis-flagged, you need simply contact Support and they will resolve the issue.
I did a search and found this thread which answers your question: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Mailing-Gold-To-Partner
It might happen. If it should happen, make out a ticket and have them check it further. You will get reinstated. It is rare though. Your account probably gets some sort of flag when your bank balance rises suddenly, at a guess. It’s possible for the person who checks it to make a mistake. Lots of people have loaned each other money with no problem though.
A bit of background info. I had my account banned for gold buying/selling. Me and 2 guildies pooled our money and swapped 200 gold between our accounts to get the title. I got a ban and they didn’t. I appealed the ban and was back in the game in 27 hours.
But I’m an exception. The vast majority of people have had no problems doing this.
Edit: we used the guild bank to swap the money between us, not email.
I also got ‘permanently banned’ as a Gold Seller last week for putting 200 gold in my guild bank, and then withdrawing it again, after my guild leader used it for the Golden title. It took 4 appeals and 48 hours to be reinstated. It would be helpful if support changed the wording of their letters. It should not be a problem, but do be prepared for a possible ban.

Yeah, the wording of the ban was a nasty shock.
I got a ban!! For GOLD SELLING! Say what? Plus what was strange, my guildies said my account was showing as on line when I reported this in the guild Facebook. Made me think I gotten hacked or something.

It took you 4 appeals? That seems like 3 too many if they have all the logs on hand! It also seems strange since they state they review the account before permanently banning… What changes their mind after you log a ticket?
Here is a little advice, I can’t say it will always work but so far it did for me. I got “Spark” through the MF and sold it. I then sent 200g to two of my guildies for their “Golden” achievement. What I did was, put a message in the email that stated exactly what I was sending them the gold for and that the money was to be returned. Then when they returned it, they put a note in the email saying why I sent them the gold and that they were returning it. It may not prevent a ban, but it will provide you with documentation that support can use and they might also see it when they are reviewing the account for the initial ban.
I’m not looking for way how to dont get a ban. I’m just asking if its illegal if I send 200 gold to my guildmates to help them get “Golden”. Or if its illegal if I help someone create his or her legendarie faster by borrowing them materials.
I’m totally against selling gold or items for real money. But I’m curious if somewhere is written something like, I dont know, “You can get permanently banned for sending big amount of gold or items to anyone”.
I dont want get ban for normal guild cooperation by helping someone in his or her legendarie or borrowing 100 gold to my friend becouse he want’s to become a Commander.
I’m curious if I can do anything i want with my items in the game except selling them for real money. I mean, do anything IN the game, not OUTSIDE the game.

No, it’s not illegal.
Yes, it is possible support might make a mistake and confuse it for something else that is illegal.
Ok. I’ll rephrase what I said on my previous post.

No, it’s not illegal, it has been stated before by the developer’s that’s there is nothing wrong with helping people out. What I meant by my post is if you are sending large amounts of materials or gold to guild mates/friends, include a note in the email stating exactly what it is for. This will give the people who review the accounts for possible suspension/ban some information as to why the large transfer took place. This will not prevent the account from possibly getting flagged, if it did then the gold sellers would just do the same thing to cover what they are really doing.
As with everything else in the game, there are thresholds and actions that may place a flag on your account, Anet will not disclose how or what triggers an account to be flagged for any reason, all you can do is have the documentation to back up what you are doing. The more the better. There is a mail system in place to allow you to send things to other people, if it weren’t allowed, it wouldn’t be there.
Ok. I’ll rephrase what I said on my previous post.
- It’s not illegal to send someone gold to help get the title.
- It’s not illegal to send someone materials to help make a Legandary.
- You can get a ban for doing this even though its not illegal. Your account gets flagged and the person who looks at it can make a mistake and think you were gold selling/gold buying.
- if this happens you can contact support and get the ban lifted.
This was better than my answer but somehow I got bumped. Oh well.
And how could they hit both Astral and Inculpatus? You guys are the best!
Aww…thank you, bluestocking. =)
Unfortunately, it happens to the best of us…lol. It is scary when it happens, and letters saying your account has been thoroughly reviewed and the permanent ban will stand are very discouraging. Still, it seems persistence pays off, as well as asking for a supervisor to review the account, perhaps.
All’s well that ends well, I suppose. =)
