Recently, I have been trying to separate my real life identity from my online identity, so I’m going back to old accounts and attempting to change my display names to something that isn’t related to me in real life. The name Liberis easily connects me to my real identity, and it’s visible in game and on the official GW2 forums.

Is there any possibility of getting this account/display name changed? I am very uncomfortable using real life information as a public account name (forums/in-game).

I just got a reply from support, and my only option is to create a support ticket to close my account (and then I’d have to buy a new account). =\

Generally they only change the display name by request if you’ve mistakenly used your real name. However, I suppose if you have a strong case for why Liberis compromises your personal privacy, you could submit a ticket to Support and lay out your case. Good luck!
