After being put in lion arch’s overflow channel, people were having discussions about some countries and who has what better than the other, eventually I mixed in with Belgian having good things except other people that come here get alot of benefits compared to natives. It’s not being racist, it’s stating a fact. After being called a ret*rd and other several things the same person who called me that reported me for being a racist. Now I got a 70 hour ban while he was the one calling names. Too bad I can’t recall his name.

That aside, maybe Anet should look more into the reports, reread the entire chat log before making such decisions based on clearly nothing. If I wanted bad customer support and random flaming I would’ve sticked to WoW.

Now if you had screenshots of your own, you could include them in your appeal ticket. They have chat logs of their own, but screenshots help.

I guess someone was offended by it, or more likely, someone was having a bad day and just wanted to report people for whatever.

Sucks to be banned for Christmas Eve + Christmas + Day after christmas. Kinda wish I didn’t buy $20 in gems just the other day.

Edit: Not to mention that this would be my first and only ban in the past 12 years of playing MMOs. (Including; Ultima Online, Ragnarok Online, World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, AION, Luna Online, TERA Online, League of Legends… and quite a few I can’t remember…)

Hello, I was banned today for 74 hours because my bad names Umaxer and Umaxer Cz. So terrible name I know, but ban for so many hours only for that, rly ? I have made ticket but I only let a know how anet police is absurd. Banned only for name…. Why dont you warn me first ?! I want know your opinion about it. Thanks.

I just got banned today for saying that hating Germans would be nationalism and not racism. I wasn’t the one who said he hated Germans (I am German in fact), nor did I insult anyone else. Somebody, appearantly took my statement the wrong way, or I don’t know what and I got banned for racism (almost ironically)
It really seems to me like noone looks into these reports.

My offensive line would have been censored for anyone that kept their swear filter on. Why give us the option to turn it on or off if we will simply be banned for using any sort of “dirty” word? I rather not delve into the realms of what people find offensive, because in my -12 years of online gaming- I’ve seen people report other people for the most petty of reasons. I’ve kept a pretty clean slate when it comes to gaming, and, in these 12 years, this is the first time I’ve ever been banned.

Secondly, Gaile, I recommend you contact whichever legal department you have that handles your Rules of Conduct, and possibly nudge them towards including a few extra lines in it that say something along the lines of “You are not allowed to refer to any part of your body around your hips or chest in any sort of manner that is even remotely suggestive.”

What I said was something that was ultra rare for me to ever type — usually it’s on voice with several friends and we all joke about things like that. It’s not everyones cup of tea. I get that. I sent in a support ticket yesterday attempting to get the ban lifted, acknowledging it’s something I shouldn’t have said in the open and that I had no idea you guys were so strict and gave zero warnings before proceeding with a ban.

I was playing with my RL brother when I got banned. You know what we had to do? We had to go play League of Legends together instead. I’m the one that got him into the GW2, along with several other friends that I convinced to purchase the game. I’m still talking friends into getting GW2.

My point here is that there should be some type of warning saying “Hey, what you said isn’t cool. You’ll be banned if it continues.” It’s poor form to ban without any sort of warning whatsoever.

Can you honestly tell me face to face, that you disagree with that? As someone who moderates IRC channels and someone that’s GM’ed a few small private games in the past.. I’ve never just flat out banned someone without talking to them first.

Oh, and as far as what could be done to improve the gaming community in general? Check out League of Legend’s “Tribunal” you might find that interesting.

I understand you’ve got a job to do, but try to keep your own conduct professional when talking to your customers. Try not to take things so personally, especially when they’re conveyed in a polite manner, all things considered. You created this thread of merged complaints. It’s rather silly to suggest that someone stop complaining or suggesting something in reaction to that.

We happen to slightly disagree when it comes to how to moderate a chat then. I do not pretend that what I said was acceptable to shout out at the top of my lungs in a public place (Theater/Diner/Etc that you mentioned). I’m not saying that at all.

However where exactly do you draw the line? It’s acceptable to ban paying customers without a single warning? Are you looking to lose money?

Why risk my account when some fellow will report me for offending him for nearly any reason imagineable? Don’t say that doesn’t happen. It does. Make them send in a support ticket.” It’s just so easy to click that ban button, I guess.

Are you sure that’s the name that got blocked? I talked to a few friends a couple of years ago, and while Mr. Foxworthy (who is funny a heck!) has made a living with “red neck” jokes, other folks from the south tell me it’s a little off, a bit rude and insulting. I thought it was perfectly harmless, but eh, I learned something in the conversation. Still, looking at Ned Reck, I’m just sort of surprised that would be flagged. Can you verify that was truly the name?

Not 100% sure if that’s the one, since I can’t log on for another 35hrs. I assumed that it was, since I’ve been logging on with that toon exclusively for almost 2 weeks now. The only other name I can think of is an anagram for lunatic. The toon’s name is Tunalic. And while I see where someone’s mind could wander with that name; it wasn’t my intent.

Again, I’m not even sure if that’s the name in question, I’m just guessing. Is there a way for me to see which one is flagged without logging into the actual game? Thanks.

If you’re concerned about this — and I understand your point about the confusion — please submit a ticket and explain. The agent can check chat records to see what was said, and by whom.

In fact, I did already file a ticket, but since I’ve only been blocked for three days and know the speed of the German support team, I have little hope that the issue will be resolved, before it solves itself, especially since today is still a holiday (although I’d gladly return here and state that I was wrong.)
My main point in posting in here was to raise awareness for this issue. I do not know about the methods you use for monitoring chat and punishing misbehaviour, but the speed with which I was blocked after making said remarks leaves little doubt that it happened on suspicion. Again, I don’t know about your methods and I might be the unlucky exceptional case, but in case I’m not, you might need to review your methods of filtering abusive chat language and racism.

I have a similar question to Umaxer’s above. I was banned for having an unacceptable name. At the time of creation I thought it was a funny name, not offensive to anyone and kind of fitting with the character. (The character was a hyperactive looking Asura with huge eyes called Cracky Joe.) However, looking through the Rules of Conduct more thoroughly I can see that it was technically in violation.
Obviously I have opened a ticket to hopefully resolve the issue. How quickly are tickets normally addressed/are the staff who deal with tickets working today? (That’s not meant as a snarky comment, I’m just wondering if it’s worth checking on my ticket periodically or if it’s a waste of time as there’s no one to deal with it today.)

I can’t say for sure because I’ve never tried to create a character with a truly offensive name, but if there isn’t a filter stopping people accidently creating ‘offensive’ character names, why not, as I think it’s a bit harsh to ban someone for 72 hours with no prior warning for a character name that they didn’t necessarily realise was in violation of the Rules of Conduct. Obviously they would still need to change the character name, I just think a blanket ban of 72 hours is a bit steep.

Yeah they are care about us but I would say too much… Its right ban vulgary and offensive name but this mistakes what they did isnt very fair against me. My name is vulgary and offensive ? Umaxer ? Well its not and I have still ban and my ticket hasnt opened. Same like case with sending golds. Ban for that someone sent golds to his friend. Its looks like these cases solve people what are tired from their job and have bad chrismas because have to work and dont think about who will be banned… Its not their problem huh.

And why is a 3-day suspension necessary? Look at my chat messages, nothing offensive in there, but yeah, my name causes violence according to Anet… So actually being racist and flaming other people is as much of a crime as a POTENTIALLY offensive name. I feel your pain. My advice is when you get back into the game (if u still want to play this game after such a treatment) is to report every single player for verbal abuse. You can say something stupid and people call u kitten Report them. You keep dying in dungeon, people call u stupid. Report them. You go WvWvW, you died and player jump on your corpse. Report them.

Apparently, that’s how this game works.

My account was terminated for something I did not do “botting” but that is not the question. The false accusation is currently under review. Now the question, I just logged into vent to see how guildies are doing and was informed by one of my guild mates that my account was logged in yesterday the 25th for a short period of time. I was under the impression that I was the only one with my password and at no point would an imployee of Anet or NCSoft ever have access to my password. He sent a tell to my toon to welcome me back and then my account promptly logged out. Whats up?

You will be considered logging in if you try to login to check if your acc has been unbanned. You will be logged out once you close the msg i think.

My cousin has been checking on his mistaken botting ban status for 8+ days alrdy. So I see his online and offline prompts almost everyday. Seriously idk why so many ppl are getting banned during christmas. The only relief is that I myself hasnt got it yet lol

Players have posted saying they don’t understand why they were suspended for and offensive name or for unacceptable in-game chat. Nearly always, the name or the chat is truly offensive and that is why the account is given a time-out.

Our Support Team does not enjoy blocking people, and does so only when there is a cause.

If you feel the need to complain, please confirm that to this thread. Also, please do not post your offensive name or your crude/unacceptable/racist language in the thread, because that’s just compounding the issue. If you wish to appeal the suspension, file a support ticket. If you want to vent about the suspension, post here (following my requests above, please.)

If you don’t want people complaining about “suspensions” then ban appropriately to what was done. Saying “stupid head” shouldnt mean 71hour ban no warning. I’m pretty sure people would take the hint if you guys sent a warning first. AND then your “great” customer service wouldnt have to ignore all those tickets. INSTEAD, you would get GREAT customer support ratings for treating people fair and square.

This is Angel of the Chosen, my account has just been terminated because it says I have been tampering with the game. I have no idea whats happened, but apparently my account is gone for good.

Okay, I just hope to get my account back. If it is indeed gone for good, I’m afraid I’ll probably just quit Guild Wars 2 altogether. I’ve had to start all over once before because my account was hacked and I’m not starting all over again. I have sent them a letter, so I’ll have to wait and see what happens. I told them that I’ve played the Original Guild Wars for 7+ years and have never tampered with the game in any way.

Yup, I hope so. I got kicked out of my account in the middle of a dungeon earlier today without any prior warning. Have not been able to access the game since.

I am quite upset, but there’s really nothing I can do now (besides sending in a support ticket). All I can think of is that the hacker that got into my account a while back had modified my game somehow, but I’m not sure. I’m no computer genius so I don’t know how any of that works. Okay, I am glad to hear this. It is taking a while longer for Arenanet to respond, so I was getting worried. I did change both my email and GW2 Account password a couple times since the hacking incident. Both passwords are different and contain random letters and numbers. I hope Arenanet can tell that I’m an honest person and that I am not the hacker. Thank you for giving me a little more information and piece of mind. :smile:
