Please could somebody look into this for me (Request number 859035), I just keep getting the same copy paste answer from support and I have no idea why.

Searching facebook or whois for my in game name (of my main account not this one) reveals my real name, location address details etc and I still can’t get it changed.

I didn’t realise this would be visable to all when I made the account (way way way back when the game first came out) and I’ve not played for ages, and would really love to come back to the game but I just don’t feel safe with my real name out there for all to see and I do not understand why despite providing evidence from this thread :

It’s still not considdered an acceptable reason for a change.

“A display name will be changed to prevent the disclosure of personal information. For instance, the display name is the player’s real name or even email address”

Please can you explain why, even though this post was made by an official representitive I :
1. cannot get anything other than a copy paste response from the support tickets
2. your company feels it is acceptable to comprimise my security in this manner by forcing me to either buy a new account (I could but I want to keep all my HOM stuff from all the effort I put into GW1, and all the stuff from effort AND REAL MONEY I already put into GW2) or play with my real name, facebook page, address etc easily locatable by anyone with the brains to put my username into whois or facebook search.
3. I cannot for the life of me to find out who to complain to about the copy paste responses I keep getting (I dont even think they are reading my ticket respones any more just copy pasting the same “No.” response) and the fact that it is NOT SAFE AND SECURE FOR ME TO PLAY MY ACCOUNT

All I want, is for you to give me a display name that won’t bring up all my personal details if put into whois/google/facebook I don’t understand why support doesn’t view the fact that it does as a problem.

Again I re-itterate my display name can be used to easily locate my address details - I considder this unacceptable.

I’ve just recieved another response from GMs and aparently the fact that from my display name people can easily find my full name and address information is still not a good enough reason for a change. This is completely unacceptable and I’m sure most people would agree with me on this one.

ArenaNet you need to re-considder your foot stamping NO responses on this issue. I’m honestly apalled that your staff think it is alright to refuse to change something from which so much of my personal information can be obtained, especialy after the post that Gaile made which I will quote again:

MINE CAN BE USED TO FIND MY ADDRESS, SO WHY WON’T YOU CHANGE IT!?

They generally only change your display name if it is your full first AND last name. Kaida.1478 reflects only one of those and others have found the same answer as you. If people can find you based on just your first name then you likely have a larger issue at hand. Unless you had advertised here that your display name was your real first name none of us probably would have guessed.

Edit: And googling Kaida gives a whole bunch of results and does not easily point to just you.

This is not my main account, do you really think I would post complaining how easy it is to find me with the actual account I want changed?

I am the only person listed with my real name in the phonebook / online directories, its an unusual name. Once my full name is found (and it can be from my main account name) my address as well as the information of everyone who lives with me is easily obtainable.

Then you will need to discuss this matter with customer support and after 3 days if you still do not have a solution to your issue you will need to post in this thread and include the ticket number.

Question: have you been submitting the ticket through the account in question, or through the Kaida account? It wasn’t clear and I’m wondering if they’re confused by the account name attached to the ticket.

In any case, I’m sure Gaile will look into it since you’ve posted in the proper thread.

I submitted the tickets from the account in question, so there isn’t any confusion.

Aparently the issue is that my display name is not my “full” name – But it can still be used to easily find my full real name (as it is my middle name and surname and they are not common names) . Once my full name is obtained as I am the only person listed with this name, unlike more common names for example where there may be hundreds of potential matches there is no ambiguity and people can find not only my address, but also the names and personal details of the others in my household (including my parents) .

Support have at least stopped copy pasting me generic “no” replies now so I’m hoping they are taking this more seriously.

I’ve not had a new response for a while so fingers crossed the issue will be resolved with me able to safely use my main acount and ArenaNet regaining a loyal customer.
