As the title said, i was stupid enough the buy the wrong item which i can’t even use with my dungeon tokens, i wanted to buy a shield but bought a focus instead, is there a refund policy regarding dungeon tokens like other mmorpgs? if there is one could you please restore my Symbols of Kodan(s)?

edit: as you can see in the image below, that’s the item i bought from the token vendor.

It’s not possible right now to restore anything that is deleted or mistakenly bought. The support team simply doesnt have the facility to do it.

The devs are aware of it though and we’ve been told a feature is coming soon to allow them to do this.

Actually, i’ll edit this post, as the mods seem to be pretty strict today for some reason.

Here’s some info on account restorations. To be quite honest, I don’t imagine account restorations will ever be used to “re-do” a purchase, as roll-backs/restorations are very labor-intensive and involve a lot of verification steps even to begin.

The devs may make changes to the interface that will help with purchase errors, although a lot of purchases already do require an “are you sure” type of confirmation, so I’m not sure how they would enhance that. But hey, they’re the devs and they’re good at figuring out these things.

It is beyond atrocious that an alleged AAA mmo, launching in 2012 does not have sufficient infrastructure in place to deal with these kinds of mistakes. It doesn’t matter that there is an ‘are you sure’ confirmation, people will always make these mistakes, it’s going to happen.

I as a paying customer, do not care that it’s ‘labor intensive’ (nor do I for one second believe it). You should have a system in place that allows the customer to submit a ticket, and have GM (IN GAME) inform the customer of what will happen, remove the item from thier bag and refung the currency. It’s your own fault for not creating a ‘sell back’ feature.

If you had either (or both) of those systems in place, imagine all the ‘labor intensive’ tickets you wouldn’t be stressing over, and your customers can actually go back to enjoying your game.

All that aside, it’s very disturbing that ArenaNets attitude is one of ’it’s too much work, so we aren’t gonna do anything about it’. I guess we are all learning just what a subscription get’s us, and what happens we aren’t paying every month.

See Galie’s post below. It’s from another thread, and related to what you posted:

Please, do not make assumptions like “It wouldn’t take much coding at all” or “(it) could easily be hotfixed in.”With all due respect, no one has the ability, externally, to assess such situations, to know how much code it would indeed require, whether it could be hotfixed in, or if indeed either of those suggestions is the best in the overall game programming.
It’s nice to share your suggestions, but we want to avoid uninformed statements-as-fact, for they are not helpful and may lead to further misunderstandings.

You may be a paying customer, but it doesn’t mean Anet is forced to follow each and every demand players make. You can make a suggestion, and they’ll take it into consideration. That’s more than enough for a majority of the players here. It’s even better when the Devs actually make adjustments to tone down enemy AI and HP, fix exploits, and ban hackers in an attempt to make the game more enjoyable.

Remember, you paid to play their product, not to own it. If you aren’t happy, you’re free to play something else.

Side note – People will make mistakes when buying stuff, and I agree that having a buy back option would be nice. But there needs to be a rule in place to prevent people from abusing such a system (i.e. No buy backs if the item is equiped, used, etc. or buy backs only allowed if done within “x” minutes from purchase). That way, it doesn’t reduce the value of the Karma/Token items from people selling back stuff constantly.

Your comments are accurate. A “buy back” feature needs to be carefully and thoughtfully designed. If the team wanted to implement this feature, they would not want to rush it out as a stop-gap measure, only to find that it wasn’t designed as well as it could be. Any feature that is implemented into a game should be well-thought and carefully designed, which is something that the team is fully capable of… and somewhat well-known for doing.
