Real Money Taken!
You’ll need to have him make a support account and open a ticket with information about his situation
He has done.
He is just worried that he won’t be able to get his money back.
Looks like what was feared would happen has happened. Well done devs the illegal way of not allowing people to remove their CC details has just caused this guy to suffer fraud against him. Well Done.
This is what probably happened, got details from database from whatever site to login, they bought £200 worth of diamonds, waited for the price of diamonds to rise then resold them for game gold. And transfered gold in some way to other characters to be sold.
To be honest with your friend he is best to wave a law suit in front of the dev/publisher’s noses, because they have broken the Data Protection Act for not allowing data to be removed normally within the game and also not allowing any security measures from repurchasing (it should at least ask for the 3 digit code on the back of the card, and expiration date again).
And for the fact they have known about this issue from other people reporting it and doing nothing, should have ruling bodies come down hard on them and revoke their ability to accept credit card payments etc.

Good job A-Net! Golf clap
exactly what I and others had feared has come true. Thankfully it was “only” £200 and not a life changing amount.
Now get your broken system in order and fix this amazingly bad system that is currently leaving your customer base open to actual financial harm.
With the amount of cyber criminal activity increasing over the years on I think it’s strongly recommended that MMO websites give customers a choice as to whether or not they still want their card details held on an account.
Just as easy it is to click “save details” it should just be as easy to “remove details”. Even vendors such as Amazon.com allows customers to remove card info as well as other (and surprisingly) F2P mmo sites.
In fact F2P, B2P, P2P does not matter. A customer should be allowed to"unsave" or remove their personal detail from a game-site regardless of the payment method for said services.
I say take a look at Apple. You can have an itunes account and no credit card on it, but once you register a credit card you have to delete the account to delete the card information.
How many people experience that account being compromised?

True, but they have this really neat thing called BASIC ACCOUNT SECURITY!
This is why we need a remove credit card option for the gem store, until we get such a feature I will never use it.
