I came across someone ingame who was being rather unpleasant in map chat, and when I blocked them there account name was rather shocking,

Where exactly can you report these account names, as the ingame report option really doesn’t have anything on it for that.

You have to make a ticket to report an account name. You can do this from the forum at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new. If you report in game, and I’ve done that by choosing character name, they (probably) won’t check the account name.

Why they don’t have an option to report account names, guild names or pet names in game after all this time is a mystery.

One I debated is where the guy used a combination of name and guild name to make a sexual word. The guild name and character name alone were innocent.

Remember, you can’t see their Account Names. It would be Display name you wish to report. Too bad these forums aren’t like some others, where you can search by Display name, and report, etc.

It was the account name, when you right click on someone in game and select report it tells you there account name, the only time this doesn’t happen is when you are in WvW

I checked that link out, I cant believe the number of things they want for you to send a report in, CD key really, it might be easier if I just leave the person on ignore and wait for Anet to find it themselves, I cant believe they make it so awkward to report somethings.

The Account Name is the email associated with a game account. The Display Name is what you would see in-game and on the forums.

You can leave any portion blank (as advised on the web-form) when sending in a request.

I wish they would rename these things. Display name is so unintuitive and after all this time I still say account name when I mean display name.

Imo it should be email instead of account name and account name instead of display name since it confuses almost everyone the way it’s phrased now.

My point is, if one submits a request about reporting an Account Name, CS might respond that such a thing is not possible. It is best to be clear about what one requests. =)

Oh yeah, not arguing about that. Just wishing they would rename so it’s clearer.

Yes, well it’s been stated that that is something they are considering, so it may yet come to pass. =)
