i made a deal in game and even have a screen capture of a deal for a me to buy a weapon from another player for 100g he assured me he was legit even said i could have him banned if he didnt send it
so i sent the money he instantly blocked communications with me and never sent my item i clicked his name and reported him for scamming but my question is how do i open a ticket on this somehow
the support tickets only seem to cover account issues and not being scammed out of my gold as i said i have a screen capture of proof of the deal i made but that doesnt help me if i have no where to open a ticket or a report channel to have him banned

First off, you need to remove his character names. Naming and shaming are against forum rules.

Since there doesn’t seem to be a way to report by a ticket, it appears that the ingame scamming report is how they want it done. They don’t need your screenshot as they can check the chat logs and see what was said.

Well, basically support won’t help you I think. You reported the guy so he will hopefully get punished. You, unfortunately, won’t get any money back. That’s the risk you took when not using the trade post.

I’m sorry, but that’s how it works. It’s harsh, but you chose to send someone money, and that’s your loss.

ok removed the names i ddint do it to shame anyone i did it so ppl would be aware of him as a scammer and not get scammed too but if its against forum rules i will of course obey .
im more concerned about making sure he is banned so other ppl dont get scammed i have plenty more gold i knew the chance i took but i still dont think that should give him free range on scamming everyone because there is a tp
i know of plenty of players who make deals to sell things cheeper for either speed to not wait for it to sell or to avoid the listing fees and he shouldnt be alowed to pose as one of those players and prey on those who believe him

I’m not sure of the punishment for scamming. If you read the rules (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-conduct-breaches-outcomes/) it says suspension or permanent account termination depending upon the severity of the matter. So possibly it’s an increasing punishment where the first time is 72 hours and it increases up to termination if the behavior continues.

In other words he may get a ban or he may only get a suspension if it’s a first time and depending on how they handle these things.

Anet will not help you recover your Gold, nor will they give you anything to make up for your loss. You did a “Gentleman’s Agreement”, which is entirely between you and the other party. Since this was a private transaction outside of a safe and secure Trading Post, Anet doesn’t get involved.

Take this as a life lesson. Sorry for your loss. Please be more careful of who you deal with in the future.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

Nor will they ever advise you about their dealings with said person. You won’t ever know if they took action, investigated and decided to not take action, or what. You have reported the issue, and that is all you can do.

If no one traded outside the TP, the scammers would have no one to scam, and would have to take their business elsewhere. =)

I’m really sorry this happened to you. Believe me, everyone on the CS Team is very sensitive to the damage that scammers do, and they’ll go out of their way to establish what took place so that the scammer is actioned, up to and including account termination. We can’t give back the items because in many cases they were shuttled off to another account or two, then sold, traded, or given to an innocent party. It seems easy — “Just take back my stuff!” — but the stuff is seldom on the account of the scammer and that person who bought an item on the TP not knowing it was stolen property should not become a second victim — that would not be fair at all.

The devs created the Trading Post to give you a safe and secure means of trading and selling items. I consider TP fees as “insurance that the other player will play fairly” so I don’t try to avoid them. I encourage you and every player to use the TP for all transactions.
