Backpacks are not salvagable at the moment.
In case if you put in a jewel/orb in a wrong backpack, there is no possibility to salvage the backpack to re-gain your jewel.

I think the developers forgot to make these items salvagable…it would be nice if this issue will be fixed soon.

Backpack items useless now at all. It cant be put to Mystic Forge and cant be salvaged.

Agreed, must be an oversight.
