i have been having a bug with the contacts list where it just shows up as “…”
this bug makes its impossible to whisper, party, or even see if any friends are online.
Friends who are online are shown only their character name but player ID are “…” in contact list. Offline friends have only “…” that make me unable to recognize who is who.
I see this in the ‘game messages’ data in the chat window when I have that box selected. There were also a couple of items on the trading post labeled as such recently.

The same issue happens on guild roster as well.
having this issue as well, tho for me it seems to be limited to the contacts only, i can see the tag/ID of people in guild fine
Same problem here. Contact list is messed up with “…”
However if friend is online then name is displayed either correctly, or with … at the end of their name.
Hi guys, this one had me stumped as well for a while. The “…” is actually the loading of the name. If you leave the friend/guild list open long enough they should load eventually. You can also notice this when looking guild info for influence, roster, etc.

Hmm. I have it happen for the same players on friend/guild lists consistently, so it did not occur to me to try leaving the list up longer to have the names load in. I’ll give that a try.
If it is the case that the names do load in after a while, does that mean the issue is with the accounts of those specific players, or with my account? Other people in my guild can see the display names even when I can’t.
Edit: left the list up for about 30 minutes with no change. If it is a matter of loading the display name slowly, then it is very slow.
I have been having this problem too. I have submitted a bug report a couple times and an official support ticket. No word yet. Mine seems to get worse each day I log in and it has started to affect guild roster lists too, making it really difficult to tell who is online and interact with friends.
Mine has become so bad my contacts and one guild roster is completely useless as nearly everyone on it but myself, my husband’s account, and maybe 1 friend at a time show up at all. Everyone else is “…”. Even says “… has come online or gone offline.”
