Hello!

I’m one of those players who farmed Ascalonian Catacombs exploreable mode to buy one of these weapons, it costed me 390 Ascalonian Tears.

However, the weapon vendor guys’ weapon starts to glow at night, and I thought ‘’Hey! I want that Greatsword, it will glow so awesome at night!’’ but that is not the case, nothing happens to it. It looks the same all the time, and I got a bit sad.

I remember the old concept art, as you can see, all weapons have a counter part, even that Greatsword.

But then it comes to, does it glow at night?

What I got so far

• Only starts to glow if you are in the zone and it goes over to night.
• If you enter a zone where it already is night, the weapons wont start to glow.
• If you already are in a zone, and your weapon is glowing, you can’t change zone where it is night, the glow will disappear anyway.
• Changing from a day-zone to a night-zone changes nothing, the weapon will not glow.
• The weapon never glows in dungeons.

So basically, the weapon only starts to glow if you are in a zone and it goes over to night.

Update: It seems like you can’t change zone where it is night and then make it glow, it must become night on itself, and then it starts to glow.

When you got it glowing, it seems you can’t change zone without the glow disappearing, even if it is night.

The glow also disappeared when I transmogged it into a high-end stat weapon. I will have to wait and see if the transmogged version actually got the glow or not.

It seems like when you change zones, aka, going to another waypoint far away, the glow stops, even if it is night.

That would be something to fix.

I bought the Ghastly Greatsword a week ago and transmuted it to a high stat one, it has never glowed until now, still waiting, that has to be a bug.

So dissapointed, 390 tokens wasted :/

Wow sounds really annoying :/. Transmuted my Ghastly to my L80 weapon and it still glows as it should.

I just got this weapon as well, and it doesn’t glow at night, which is disappointing. Maybe it’s a bug.

Since I have had this weapon for some time now I finally know how it works. Basically, you have to stay in the zone and wait for it to turn night time, you can’t enter a zone when it already is night.

One way to fix this is that ArenaNet can make it start glowing when it becomes dark, as in, if you enter a cave or places where the sun can’t reach the sword.

Going to bump this one up since people seem to be making new threads instead of posting in current ones.

It seems this patch didn’t fix this bug. I hope they will fix this bug some time in the future at least, until they are done with the current bigger bugs.

It’s ridiculous that this is still an issue. All of that effort for an item that doesn’t even do what it’s suppose to do.
