Please post them in this thread if you come across any sort of bug that fits in the following categories:
- Armor/clothing art issues (textures, placement, clipping…)
- Weapon art issues (textures, placement, effects, clipping…)
- Character model issues (textures, effects…)
General Guidelines:
-Take a screenshot of the issue
-Take a screenshot of your equipment on the Hero Panel (H)
- List your Race, Sex and Class
- Be as descriptive as possible
-Take a screenshot
—If the issue relates to clothing/armor/weapons—
- List the names of every piece of armor/clothing/weapon equipped (this includes the level requirement) when you encountered the issue
- If you can, list where you acquired the item (which NPC, what map location, which dungeon, etc…)
Note on clipping issues: While we understand the desire to have all clipping issues resolved, the way our items are designed sometimes causes some small issues that cannot be fixed easily. We’re looking for severe clipping (like your shield is impaling you or your daggers are completely hidden by your coat.) Things like hair clipping or minor clipping of weapons into armor are sometimes unavoidable.
Please attach the screenshots to your forum post rather than hosting it elsewhere.
If you have a video of the issue, please upload those to YouTube (unlisted) and link that along with your other bug information here.
For more Bugging Best Practices, see this thread.
We appreciate everyone’s help with these issues. Thank you!

Okay, I’ll bite!
I found a pretty annoying glitch with the T2 Human Cultural armor chest piece for light armor wearers on males. On the inside of the sleeve on both sides, there is always this bright red and textureless mass of model that really detracts from the armor set’s aesthetic qualities.
Detail List for Clarity:
- The only item equipped is the armor piece (And my ghastly headpiece, but the issue is there without it too!)
- Male
- Human
- Necromancer
- T2 Human Cultural Armor
- Chest Piece
- Acquired from T2 Cultural Vendor in Divinity’s Reach
- Untransmuted
When I go in the water I get this white thing on the back of my pants. The only way to get rid of it is to switch to my town clothes and back to my armor.

Issue with crafted Exotic quality lvl 80 Light Shoulder armor Rampager Exalted Mantle (though I’m pretty sure that this problem is here as well with all the types of exalted mantles on that combination of character race/gender/body type)
There is a clipping on the left shoulder guard while looking at the face of the character and the same problem but with right shoulder when we look at the back of the character. Also during idle animation (when character moves while just standing and doing nothing) clipping problems are getting even worse so left shoulder guard hides almost completely inside the characters’ shoulder.
Race – Human.
Sex – Male
Class – Necromancer
Height (if it matters) – medium (middle position of the height slider at the character creation screen)/
Body type – 2-nd if we count from the most muscular to the least muscular (so somewhat muscular I would say:)
Weapon: Avenger’s Longbow (Sylvari Ranger Level 10 personal story reward)
Drawstring is too short and looks really annoying. A lot of Sylvari NPC’s use this weapon and the model is also used by the T2 cultural I believe.
The Legs of Arah, Heavy Armor Set, Have a Strap which goes along with the Chest, but if I do not want to match it with the chest it looks incomplete and cut. Can you fix it by either completing the strap or attaching it completely to the chest instead of half and half. Mix Matching this set looks weird with this piece that looks cut and missing.
Hopefully it will be fix soon, having one of the hardest armors in game that represent a title beating Arah completely being broken is kind of lame.
Also Leg Piece Front Metal Piece is Off Centered, it moves elastically instead as a whole piece.

Back slot Placement:
Asura Tier 1 Cultural Armor.
I play an Asura (Male) Engineer. After hitting 80 I decided to buy some Cultural Armor. However, a very odd placement bug with the back slot item appeared as soon as I equipped the Protean (Tier 1 Asura Cultural Armor.) Anything that shows on the back slot appears sideways and sticking straight out. This happens with any equipped back slot item such as the Mad King book, but what is most disturbing is that it appears with ALL of the Engineer weapon kits! My kits look like messed up fanny packs with a missing strap. Back slot items can be hidden, kits cannot. As I have a kit equipped 95% of the time, this is a serious graphical problem.
The screenshots below were taken after I transmuted the pieces onto L80 Exotic gear, however the issue began with the vanilla Protean pieces even before transmutation. This issue happens with any of the Protean pieces (Tier 1 Asura Cultural Armor.) The Tier 2 Asura Cultural Armor, (at least the helm,) does not cause the problem. Removing all of the Protean pieces fixes the back slot, however even one piece being equipped causes the problem.
I got a bug with my pistols on the thief. When they are not in my hands, they are IN THE BODY. See the pictures please.
My Equip is:
Berserker’s Duelist Coat of Balthazar
Berserker’s Duelist Pants of InfiltrationPenetrating Krytan Pistol of Earth
Resilient Krytan Pistol of Earth
It would be great if u guys can fix that.

The previous thread handling these issues seems to have disappeared… Reposting this just to be safe. If it wasn’t necessary, then my apologies for the redundancy.
To summarize the first image… The Cabalist Coat appears to be sheared off, majorly in part due to the way in which it combines with the Cabalist Leggings. I’ve provided a quick thought for how it could be made to feel more natural when worn with any other type of armor leggings, but it’s just a suggestion. Lowering the shear-off point would essentially accomplish the same thing, but I think adding some detail down there would really give it a nice feel. The second image is just a quick indicator of clipping that occurs in normal “idle” gameplay.
Info as requested…

EDIT: I understand that the suggestion (IMG 1) is probably never going to get attention, with all the clipping that should be taking precedence… that said, IMG 2 has some really big (and easily fixable) clipping issues.
I posted this problem a few days ago but for some reason I cannot find it anymore, so I will post it again.
Issue: Armor/clothing/art issue (texture/lighting)
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Class: Thief
Description: The “Duelist” mask skin has this weird patch of light/shadow on the left side of the mask that is very noticeable when using a bright color. The weird patch is located on the left cheek right next to where the mouth covering ends and where the bandaging starts (please see picture below). Depending on the light/angle, the color will be SUPER BRIGHT, or VERY DARK, and it seems to coincide with whatever value the right side is. This issue seems to only be regarding the Male Human, as I have not seen female humans, or any other race having this issue when they are wearing the mask.
Though this issue is not game breaking, I would like this fixed because it prevents me from really color customizing my character the way I want to. I am instead always opting to color him very dark in order to avoid seeming this weird lighting patch. Anet please fix this!!!!!!!!!
My exotic medium armor skin combo is as follows (as seen in the pictures)
head: Reyna’s Duelist mask (problem is left side with weird patch)
shoulders: Seeker’s shoulders
chest: Duelist chest
gloves: Duelist gloves
leggings: Assassins leggings
boots: Assassins boots
Weapons: Drakevenom/Brandt/Mystic Spike
Color Dyes used: Antique Gold/Midnight Ice
The Duelist exotic head/coat/gloves were purchased from the Trading Post. The Leggings/Boots were also part of the duelist set (Reyna’s) purchased from the TP, but were transmuted with Assassins Leggings/Boots skin obtained from the T3 Human cultural set in Divinity’s Reach. The shoulders are also from the TP (Reyna’s) transmuted onto a Seeker shoulder skin obtained from crafting.
Character Model Issues
Human, Female. Elementalist.
Hair Model/collering issue especially when running. When the hair model shown in attached Screen shots shows an off/oddly collored texture where the hair settles in a standing position.
While i choose a blond hair color, when running or moving it shows a reddish texture.
The same shows when equipping headgear that shows any textures outside the facial features such as eyes and nose.
Has been like this since i noticed it not long after release.
Transmuting the starter head gear for my Elementalist with another item caused the armor to become invisible. No model or effects are visible afterward, however the Flame Eye is visible at character selection screen. Have not verified this with the other Elementalist starter head gear.

Is there some way to fix weapon preview to have your character take on an attack stance as daggers, pistols, horns always get mostly lost in a Ranger’s Coat or a casters dress. We really shouldn’t have to get naked to preview weapons.
In addition to Thayel.1236’s post:
Protean armor also misplaces the shield if equipped. In my case Pact Tower Shield of Force. Equipping any of the 6 Protean pieces results in the error.
Female Asura Engineer
(first is the usual way the shield looks, followed by screens for each piece)
Weapon: Mystic Spike doesn’t glow blue like other mystic weapon, but it glow red like inquest weapon
- human, female, mesmer
- light nightmare armor (Twilight Arbor dungeon armor set)
- texture issue: Light Nightmare Armor is animated during in-game night. As shown in the lower picture, parts of its (the chest piece of armor) texture pulsate with a light glow. Prior to last game update also the Leggings part of the set used to have the same night animation with elements of it getting brighter every couple of seconds. It seems bugged now.
Sorry I couldn’t apply the listed standards however this is an issue with something I don;t use an there is no way of showing.
The Pirate spear and harpoon gun in Lion’s Arch are switched. You would use the harpoon gun to spear stuff to death and you would shoot with a spear.
(The weapons the ghost pirate sells)
It tends to throw people off guard in underwater battle. ~
Thank you,
The effect for this axe is supposed to be a glowing triangle along the edge of the blade, what actually happens is that this triangle is not rotated with the camera matrix, the result is that this triangle always face the camera, like a bill board.
hey Jason,
what happened to the other huge thread on clipping issues? it had 20+ pages i think. also, any updates on when we’ll start seeing some clipping fixes?
i would say the main issue right now is that weapons simply cannot be discerned while holstered, across most armor sets.
thanks

armor being worn: tier 1 cultural medium coat, tier 3 cultural medium shoulders, rawhide gloves (aka default medium gloves in PvP), nightmare legguards (medium), tier 2 cultural medium boots. PvP version of all of them, though i’ve experimented with the PvE versions and seen the same problems.
all of the armor is medium armor, i did not preview any armor that my weight class couldn’t wear.
.
Issue #1: the nightmare legguards, around the waste area, have this weird line delimiting the end of the piece, which can be seen in combination with any armor that doesn’t properly cover the waist area. other sylvari leggings (namely, the cultural ones) don’t have this issue, so it’s really annoying.
Issue #2: when equipping the tier 2 cultural medium boots, random, awful looking spikes appear throughout the leg, way beyond the boot’s end. this issue happens with every leg armor i tried, including the matching armor (tier 2 medium leggings). i’m not sure if it’s intentional or not though, but they just look like random things clipping through my legs.

There are bigger problems then that. At least 1 in every tier of Asuran Cultural armors will cause clipping errors if wearing ANY piece of that set and showing a backpiece. The backpiece is go and think that your hip is your back and start clipping through your stomach.
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Class: Guardian
LVL: 80
Armor: Noblemans Armor set (Caudecus Mannor Dungeon Set) lvl 80
Issues:
a- Bad clipping on the belt
b- Bad clipping on the back and front of the shoulder pads.
c- Bad clipping on the back “tail” of the armor, leg piece just cuts through.
d- Texture is cut in one of the upper arm parts.
e- Texture of the whole armor is bad and inferior to the texture quality of the same armor while being used by NPCs (comparable in attached file). The NPC’s Nobleman armor set is smooth and shiny, new and not worn off. The one we get isnt shiny, its covered in black patches that look like a bad imitation of “rust” and worn off.
For more information check the attached file with several screenshots showing each and every single one of the points listed. Please fix it, it’s a dungeon armor set that takes a lot of time and effort to get, it would be nice to have it as it is shown by NPC’s without all the bad clipping issues that it presents all over.
Thanks
1. picture
Left side seems okay, but if You’ve ever held a sword in your hand than You know that it should be held near the crossguard, not in the middle of grip. But I can live with that, since I saw many people do the middlegrip-grasp…. And as I checked other characters it is the way its intended.
The right side though… When I move forward with my character, the weapon almost slides out of its grasp. Ending up holding the weapon at the grip’s very tip, which looks awful. It happens with all the 1h weapon, holding in the right arm.
the issue simplified:
charr male, moving forward, 1h weapon slips out
2. picture:
The greatswords’ crossguard clips with chestarmor’s back. And i think the sword should be placed upper, so the level of the crossguard and the level of the shoulders should be around equal, like on the right side
simplified:
charr male, pvp plated coat, ghastly greatsword, crossguard clips.
greatswords should be placed upper
3. picture:
When the warrior uses whirlwind attack (greatsword-3), the greatsword almost ‘slips out of its hands’ during the spin. I havent checked this one with other races, but with charr male it’s quite annoying.

Armor in question: Tier 3 Sylvari cultural gloves.
I just purchased these gloves, planning on finishing the set later, and I was very upset to see that the gloves are glitched when you move.
It appears the spikes on the sides of the gloves are set in a fixed place and bend or stretch when your arms make any movement.
This makes no sense and looks terrible in combat, below is a picture of my character idle in the hero panel, and in combat pose.
Please fix this!!

Cultural T2 light “Orchid” boots do not re-dye. They were transmuted with a L80 item for stats. You can change the dye but it will not save. Sometimes taking them off will also crash.

Issue:
Sylvari Tier 1 Cultural Armor (Epaulets & Leggings) dyes look very different outside of Hero tab.
I’m not sure if this light, reflective shine was intentional—as it looks fine on the NPC I am standing next to in the second screenshot—but it makes it troublesome to dye my armor. I am using relatively dark dyes (Burgundy, Wintergreen, Midnight Rust) and they turn out extremely light and reflective, regardless of what lighting I am in. In my hero tab, the armor does look shiny/reflective but still stays true to the colour of the dyes. I’ve tested this with lighter dyes (i.e. Mint Breeze) too and it looks fine with the shine. It’s a bit frustrating since the armor looks nothing like how I dyed them. Hope this can be adjusted, thanks!
Edit: Added another image of my sylvari in the character selection screen and noticed how shiny (and blue!) the armor looks; the other dyes look darker at the least.

Armor/clothing art issue
- Weapon art issue (clipping)
Hi Arena net, my character is suffering from clipping. I sincerely hope the problem of my charcter can be resolved as this is my dream armor set which i have spent countless weeks to acquire, only to be dashed by the problem of weapons clipping to my armor.
I have posted all the information i can give below:
Description
1) In Hero , In World screen, Longbows and Greatswords are clipped and covered partially by the medium citadel of fire armor at the top right hand corner area [Fire Ring design on shoulder].
2) The Problem is severely aggravated upon running as the weapon’s middle portion is nearly covered whole as shown in screen shots taken.

And also to whomever is to read this post,
May i also know how will this clipping issue of my character be resolved(through a patch etc.)? As, (correct me if i am wrong), this is an account by account issue.
Thanks
Looking forward to your reply!
As you can see, there are two little red vertical lines that kinda “split” the skin of this armor. It’s more obvious in game, than in the pictures.
It may be a minor thing, but it’s kind of a big deal to me, since it’s my favourite armor and it ruins it.
Shouldn’t be too hard to fix…
Race – Human
Sex – Male

The armor SHOULD be a “duelist coat”, not sure ’cause I trasmuted it a long time ago. PvP version of this one has, obviously, the same problem and its the “PvP Leather Coat”.

I’m not sure if this is the right area to post this but I have just recently started a new character and noticed during the cinematics in my personal story, lot of the npcs are completely bold, including Zojja during the initial Destiny Edge meeting in LA. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of it but as it kept recurring I realised it must be a bug.
Just recently my HoM rewards got finally fixed, so I was able to access the items. I was really looking forward to the Fellblade as I really liked it in gw1. However, not only was I disappointed in the looks of it (it looks nothing like gw1 Fellblade) and the animations, but it clips really bad when using the HoM armor as well. Haven’t really checked it against all the gear but anyway this shot tells it all. So no Fellblade for me /sad face.
Don’t really know if the character details such as lvls etc matter since the HoM items are available for all lvls/classes, but I’ll at list mention the fact the picture is of my Human Mesmer.
So i bought Tier 3 Norn Shoulders and body for my engi.
My hair clips through the shoulder piece and just looks terrible.
After spending 50 gold you can bet im pretty upset by this.
Heres to hoping it can be fixed in a future patch, im aware clipping issues and polygons are pretty complicated and I wish you guys the best of luck for finding a good solution. Thankyou for having this stickied topic to post in, it means alot to me as a player.
*edit as i see this has been an issue for a while and its kinda known. there probably wont be a fix in the near future, is there a way i can get a free hair remake so i can run around with tier 3 without looking completely ridiculous. maybe it sounds like im begging for free stuff but all i want is to wear my expensive as hell gear without looking like an idiot cuz i picked a hair set with clipping issues. even if an arenanet employee had to pick one for me i dont care as long as i can wear my tier 3 in peace.
*2nd edit. oK so… i used gems and got a different hair. its too bad the hair i picked at creation had so many problems with high collars. 70 gold worth of tier 3 gear. finding out your hair from creation poops on it and having to blow more gold on a hair cut from the gem store. priceless. advice from someone who threw gold in the trashcan cuz of clipping issues. pick hairs that are short and in a bun. in fact with everything with your character try to make sure no polygon touches another polygon.

My coat is clipping through the shoulder part.
Armor:
Carrion Conjurer Mantle of the Afflicted
Carrion Cabalist Coat of the Pirate
Picture attached.
Female human mesmer here.
After today’s patch 1h swords have got almost hidden under my mesmer’s skirt. It used to be fine with “Conjurer’s pants”. The sword I’m currently using is “Legionnaire sword”, but I also tried “Steamblade” and got the same result. 1 and 3 screenshots before the patch, 2 and 4 after.
Changing chestpiece or any other piece of armor doesn’t affect at all.
Also, 1h swords look hilarious now with “Masquerade Leggins” equipped (5 and 6 screenshots).
It seems the last patch broke the model for the medium armor: Vigil Leggings
There is now a rather noticeable seam in the midsection of the character where previously there was none. I have taken a screenshot of the problem and placed it next to a screenshot taken just yesterday for comparison: (Bug.png, Bug2.png)
I’ve included a screenshot of the character panel: (Bug3.png)
Equipment is as follows:
Head: Trooper’s Mark of Balthazar
Shoulders: Berzerker’s Duelist Pauldrons of Grenth
Torso: Berzerker’s Duelist Coat of Balthazar
Gloves: Carrion Duelist Gloves of Rage
Legs: Vigil Leggings of Hoelbrak
Boots: Murmur Boots (Lvl 79 Karma armor, “Fine” rarity)

Berzerker’s Pistol of Earth
Set2:

Hello, i already made a post but i guess this is a better place for my bug. Whenever i use juggernaut and the tier 3 asura cultural heavy armor set(in metallic armor mode), the “gems” on the set(bottom right quarter in dye mode) get invisible, so it looks like i’m missing limbs.
List:

I am wearing the entire tier 3 set, except for chest piece, which is the ascalonian chest.
Issue with T1 Charr Cloth cultural armor.
- Charr
- Female
-Mesmer
- Smallest physique (I believe), smaller height scale.
-Full Invoker’s Set, Charr T1 Cloth Cultural, minus the shoulderpads. (Wearing Masquerade Mantle, tailor made Rare)
-Not transmuted. (Yet)
There’s a pretty noticeably large gap between the coat and leggings – you can see daylight through my midsection. It’s harder to notice when running on all fours, but while upright and running on two feet, it’s glaringly obvious. As you move, the gap changes in size, widening and narrowing.
I happened to first see it while traveling through Wayfarer Foothills – Suddenly I can see snow glaring through my character’s midsection…
I don’t know if this is because of my character’s physique or size, or gender. But it’s rather incredibly disappointing… I was quite satisfied with my engineer’s T1 leather set, and my warrior’s T1 heavy armor set. Excited to buy this cloth set, and finally have it all dyed, only to not want to wear it anymore, because of this bug.
Made a short video, I’ll link later, once Youtube is out of Read-Only mode.
Also not sure if it matters – but I keep the game on best performance/low settings, with added low post-process effects and Native sampling.
Edit: Here’s a youtube link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK19d5uodLw
It’s most noticable at 0:30-0:40, and 0:48-0:52.

The female Heritage Armor clips now at the waist. On human female (don’t know about other races).
I don’t remember it doing that before, but it doesn’t look too nice. It’s possibly my favourite armor funnily enough, but it niggles me to see this:
The skirt is bleeding/clipping through the top, and it shows no matter what….it’s a permanent thing. Please fix it <3
Male Norn Guardian:
The shield glow while under the effect of Aegis is misplaced and thus clips with the left character’s arm.
Happens while wielding either Greatswords and Hammers, during the idle stance, as seen in the attached picture.
While running with the weapon unsheathed, the light glow appears to be floating parallel to the forearm as intended. As soon as the character stops motion tough, it suddenly tilts to the left toward the arm, clipping through the character’s shoulder.
Male Human Warrior:
Issue with Barbaric Legplates (Heavy Armor). Armor acquired through crafting.
Since this is an armor art issue, all variants (Knight’s, Berserker’s, Carrion’s, …) are affected.
The belt around the waist of the character deforms and bends inward while moving – walking/running/attacking – exposing the untextured junction between the surfaces underneath. The result is a “crack” in the character’s right hip and a visible see-through area, as seen in the screenshot.
Human/Female & Sylvari/Female
The placement of the pieces around the hips does not function correctly. This is also an issue with at least Sylvari females as well for the PvP Heavy Plate Leggings. Rather than the plate pieces being attached to the hips they just stick out and float. I don’t believe this issue exists with at least Human males or Norn females.
Human/Female
The pieces of the legs that are flaps in front of and behind your character aren’t placed properly. They stick out as if they aren’t affected by gravity. The issue isn’t as easy to see on the Orrian Leggings but if you compare them to other races/genders then it’s a little more obvious.
This issue might extend to many other sets of armor because many greatswords and even some shields clip through a lot of different pants on human females.
Human/Female (probably every race/gender)
These leggings are the only ones that have some extra bulk added to them from the lower leg to the ankles. This causes them to clip through most of the heavy boots in the game. This kind of sucks considering they’re one of the only sets of plate leggings in the game at the moment. In the attached image the boots I’m wearing are the exotic level 400 crafted Draconic boots.
Race: Norn
Gender: Female
Profession: Warrior
The String on the longbow Ganadriva seems to be scaled for some other race.
Race: Norn
Gender: Female
Profession: Guardian and Warrior
Many, many, many of the shoulder pieces appear to be scaled for a larger body (Norn Males?). The armor is enormous and floats well away from the body. I don’t think the 80’s padded shoulder look is deliberate becase not all pieces suffer from it, and Female Norn shoulder armor for light and medium sets doesn’t display this distortion.
The aforementioned skew with the shoulders is crazy obvious when you compare Human females and Norn. Using the starting shoulders for Guardians, we see…
Weapon
Corrupted Spear and Corrupted Harpoon Gun are flip, they show the skin of each other but not theirs.
Corrupted Spear Shows Corrupted Harpoon
Corrupted Harpoon Gun shows Corrupted Spear
This only appeared after the patch. An invisible stomach line has appeared with my armor set, just like the winged armor invisible stomach line.
Armor:
Assassin’s Coat
Vigil Leggings
Noble Mask
Noble Gloves
Duelist Pauldrons
Rawhide Boots
All are transmuted.
Unsure if this would be considered a minor clipping issue, but here goes…
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Class: Thief
Armor: Honed Swindler Coat (level req 33)
Pants: Strong Swindler Pants of Hoelbrak (level req 26 w/ Minor Rune of Hoelbrak)
Boots: Strong Pirate Boots of Infiltration (level req 39 w/ Major Rune of Infiltration)
This happens when running with my daggers drawn. Running without the daggers drawn has no clipping. Happens for both legs.
Not sure where I got the equipment, unfortunately.
