I somehow got a Machined Longbow without doing the collection for it. Maybe it dropped? Do they drop? Here is the sequence of events:
I’ve been working on the elite weapons one at a time. Typically I hold off on the Machined weapon in the hopes of getting rare Reclaimed to drop without having to shell out gold for them. For Bo and Dark Harvest I had one plate drop, then had to buy two more. Yggdrasil shared the staff with Bo, hurrah! So I focused on Ydalir next.
I did most of the Ydalir collection, keeping the Itzel Hunting Tactics for last so the bow would come to my Dragonhunter on purchase of the Itzel book. I still needed the Machined bow, of course. So I took my Reaper on a DS run once I had enough map currencies to buy the Plated bow. I forgot to bid on reclaimed rares, though, so there I was after the whole DS run, at the vendor, with one plate. I hastily set up a TP express and bought two weapons at the seller rate (ouch) because I was tired, I was hungry, and I wanted to get that done so I could get the Machined Longbow String the next time I got to the chest.
Remember I was tired and hungry, thus not thinking straight, and of course in a rush due to the short time DS gives for getting to pods after a win. So moments after I bought the Plated bow, I got the Machined Bow. I really don’t recall if I went to the chest after the vendor or before, or what proc’d the bouncy chest with the bow. I said to myself, “huh … did I screw up? Did I already buy the Plated bow for this and just waste a ton of map currency?” and then went pod hunting. I subsequently got on my DH and bought the Itzel book, so he now has Ydalir equipped.
But now I look at my collections and I have not completed the Machined Longbow. I do not have the skin unlocked. I haven’t even charged an Oiled Stave (though maybe I did? I have lost track by now as I’ve moved through the weapons. But it’s not in the collection, though I remember wincing at spending 5 of my linseed oils on it — I wince every time, I need those for Nightfury).
So how did I get credit for it towards Ydalir?
(Please don’t take my Ydalir away. I’ll cry. But if you do I can still go get all the bits needed to make the Machined Bow to re-acquire it, so I guess if some bug granted me Ydalir it’s only fair to make me spend the rest of the resources).
